Background and purpose: The prevalence of obesity among youth in Indonesia was increasing. Obese young people have risk of having non-communicable disease and also affect the intelligence quotient. This study aimed to determine the association between nutritional status and intelligence quotient among junior high school students. Methods: Study was cross sectional with a sample of 176 respondents determined by simple random sampling. Data were collected through an IQ test using Standard Progressive Matrices method, weight and height measurement, and self-administered questionnaires. Data were analysed using Stata. Bivariate analysis using chi-square test and multivariate by poisson regression test. Results: Mean age of respondents was 12.2 years and mean of IQ was 105.8. There were 77 obese students, consisting of 48 (62.3%) males and 29 (37.7%) females. 47 students (26.7%) indicated a below average IQ, consisting of 24 (51.1%) males and 23 (48.9%) females. Bivariate analysis indicated that 55.8% of obese students had below average IQ meanwhile students with a normal nutritional status of 4,0%. On below average IQ 4.0% students never had obesity; 56.8% students <6 years of being obese and 67.5% students ?6 years of being obese. Multivariate analysis found that respondent’s intelligence quotient was associated with obesity (APR=6.6; 95%Cl: 2.0-21.5).Conclusion: Intelligence quotient was significantly associated with obesity and the period of obesity. The longer the period of being obese more likely had a below average IQ.

The aim of this study is to investigate the anxiety levels of high school students towards mathematics lesson according to gender variable. A total of 89 ninth grade students (29 females and 60 males) from various high schools were enrolled in Van province center in the 2017-2018 academic year. In the study, the data were collected by using the developed “Mathematical Anxiety Scale” of the researcher. In the analysis of the collected data, frequency and percentage values were taken and independent sample t test was used. According to the results of the study, high school students' mathematics anxiety levels were at medium level. In addition, there were no statistically significant differences in the anxiety levels of female and male students. While the test anxiety levels of the students who participated in the study were higher than the other anxiety levels, the lowest anxiety level was seen as lack of curriculum subjects.

Mathematics anxiety impacts to the learner tremendously especially his scholastic performance, mastery of learning competencies and skills, and even the career choice. This study investigated the different factors causing mathematics anxiety in Calculus of senior high school students. The research design employed was mixed method. Qualitative techniques were used in determining the factors that caused the anxiety of the participants and descriptive design in determining the anxiety level of the students. The study was conducted in five (5) senior high schools offering Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Strand in a province in the Southern Luzon, Philippines. Sixty- nine(69) participants took the Mathematic Anxiety Inventory (MAI) developed by Plake and Parker. The results revealed that almost all of the participants have either high or moderate mathematics anxiety level. The paper concludes that the abstract mathematical concepts of Calculus, the teaching style and attitude of the teacher, and the poor comprehension and analytical skills of the students were the major factors that caused the mathematics anxiety of the participants.

THE EFFECTIVENESS OF REALITY COUNSELING TO OVERCOME ANXIETY EXPRESSING OPINIONS FOR JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS. This study aims to test the effectiveness of reality counseling to overcome the level of anxiety express opinions of students in junior high. This research uses pre experimental pre-test type post test one group design. The data analysis used is paired test of T-test, to see the change of anxiety level in experimental group between pretest and post test by looking at t table price at degrees of freedom (dk), that is the magnitude is N-1, and at a significant level α = 0,05 (95%) then we get t-table = 1,833, assuming if t count> t-table then Ha “received”. From the test results using T-Test proves that effective reality counseling in overcoming anxiety expressed the opinion of junior high school students. Because t arithmetic 16,628> t table 1,833 on the significant level α = 0,05, then Ha “accepted”. Based on the findings of the research, for the next researcher, with the findings of reality counseling implementation to overcome the level of anxiety to express the opinion of the students, should be an inspiration in doing further research by applying counseling with other therapies, especially in an effort to overcome the anxiety level express opinion to the students.
