A possible Laurentian volchoviid ophiocistioid from the Katian of southwestern Ohio

The Cincinnatian (Katian) of the Cincinnati Tri-State area is widely regarded as one of the most fossiliferous sections known (Meyer and Davis, 2009). Echinoderms from these strata include well-described asteroids, crinoids, cyclocystoids, edrioasteroids, glyptocystoids, mitrates, and ophiuroids. John Pope discovered a partially articulated echinoderm in float from the Fairview Formation that does not correspond to any known Cincinnatian echinoderm. Although mentioned in Ubaghs (1966, as a presumable personal communication from Pope, 1960), Haude and Langenstrassen (1976), Reich (2001), and Reich and Haude (2004), this specimen at the Cincinnati Museum Center (CMCPIP 51316) has neither been described nor illustrated; yet, these authors attributed it to Volchovia Hecker, 1938 in the Class Ophiocistioidea. Questions swirl around this fossil: what is its complete morphology; does it belong to Volchovia; whether or not it can be assigned to Volchovia, is it an ophiocistioid? The first step to understand this enigmatic echinoderm is to illustrate and describe the specimen, which is the objective of this note.

Daunomycin, an antibiotic used in the clinical management of acute leukemia, produces a delayed, lethal cardiac toxicity. The lethality is dose and schedule dependent; histopathologic changes induced by the drug have been described in heart, lung, and kidney from hamsters in both single and multiple dose studies. Mice given a single intravenous dose of daunomycin (10 mg/kg) die 6-7 days later. Drug distribution studies indicate that the rodents excrete most of a single dose of the drug as daunomycin and metabolite within 48 hours after dosage (M. A. Asbell, personal communication).Myocardium from the ventricles of 6 moribund BDF1 mice which had received a single intravenous dose of daunomycin (10 mg/kg), and from controls dosed with physiologic saline, was fixed in glutaraldehyde and prepared for electron microscopy.

A survey study examined the attitudes of interdisciplinary team members toward public school speech-language programs. Perceptions of clinicians' communication skills and of the clarity of team member roles were also explored. Relationships between educators' attitudes toward our services and various variables relating to professional interactions were investigated. A 64-item questionnaire was completed by 346 randomly selected respondents from a two-state area. Classroom teachers of grades kindergarten through 3, teachers of grades 4 through 6, elementary school principals, school psychologists, and learning disabilities teachers comprised five professional categories which were sampled randomly. Analysis of the results revealed that educators generally had positive attitudes toward our services; however, there was some confusion regarding team member roles and clinicians' ability to provide management suggestions. Implications for school clinicians were discussed.

Bovine Factor X is eluted in two forms (X1and X2) from anion exchange chromatographic columns. These two forms have indistinguishable amino acid compositions, molecular weights and specific activities. The amino acid sequences containing the γ-carboxyglutamic acid residues have been shown to be identical in X1 and X2(H. Morris, personal communication). An activation peptide is released from the N-terminal region of the heavy chain of Factor X by an activator from Russell’s viper venom. This peptide can be isolated after activation by gel filtration on Sephadex G-100 under nondenaturing conditions. The activation peptides from a mixture of Factors X1 and X2 were separated into two forms by anion-exchange chromatography. The activation peptide (AP1) which eluted first was shown to be derived from Factor X1. while the activation peptiae (AP2) which eluted second was shown to be derived from X2 on the basis of chromatographic separations carried out on Factors X1 and X2 separately. Factor Xa was eluted as a symmetrical single peak. On the basis of these and other data characterizing these products, we conclude that the difference between X1 and X2 are properties of the structures of the activation peptides. Today there are hundreds of papers published on the problem of labor migration from Central Asian countries, its political, social and economic aspects, as well as on the problem of integration and adaptation of migrants in the Russian society. However, the topic of migrant poetry is still poorly studied in Russia. At least there is no such research on Tajik labor migrants. The genres of Tajik migrant poetry vary significantly and include such forms as love poems, political songs, songs about migration hardships, religious poems. This paper is based on the results of monitoring social networks «Odnoklassniki», «Facebook», as well as on the results of personal communication and interviews with poets. In the paper we use the poems of three authors written in Tajik, Russian and Shugnani languages. The semantic translation from Tajik and Shugnani was done by the author of this paper

Globalization, commodity parity, consumer sovereignty, super competition and a broad variety of other factors, including the roll-out of the mass media, the emergence and rapid rise of the new media formats and platforms as well as the exchange of information provided by social networks pose new challenges for the advertising industry. Throughout its 150 years of history, since we have known it as a distinct occupation and practice, advertising shows adaptive sustainability quality and greatly enhance its capacity as features, forms, user approaches and distribution channels. Nevertheless, by its very nature, advertising retains the constant of an asymmetric pattern of communication in which, in nowadays environment, the success of effort is expressed in the formula of understanding others and the willingness they to understand us in return. In practice, beyond the abstract of this formula, the effort of advertisers in the process of creating and planning a certain campaign would be greatly facilitated by putting the basic principles of empathy theory. Numerous experiments and studies of this human ability establish working models to achieve effective contact both at the level of personal communication and in the cases of direct and indirect communication with huge quantity and variety of audiences with specific composition. Synthesized and brought to a universal level of application, the basic principle of empathy is the ability, rather cognitive than emotional, to understand and to feel the feelings of others. The achievements in this psychology field currently apply mainly to psychotherapy, clinical psychiatry, pedagogy and political rhetoric theories and ractices. Experience proves that empathic skills help the communicator for faster, easier, more effective and more properly understood and accordingly more efficient as a moderator. This article provokes a new paradigm for advertisers in communicating with the public - about the content, forms and planning of communication activities of the principles of empathy. The goal of the effort is clear - creating more effective communication and achieving a sustainablecompetitive advantage.

In this paper, we studied on spreading code for wireless communication, their performance analysis, applications and its implementation. Spread-spectrum systems have found important commercial applications in CDMA cellular networks and wireless personal communication networks. Implementation is complex, mainly because spreading the baseband (by a factor that can be several orders of magnitude) forces the electronics to act and react accordingly, which, in turn, makes the spreading and dispreading operation necessary. In spread spectrum the transmission signal bandwidth is much higher than the information bandwidth. The signal occupies a bandwidth much larger than what is necessary to send the information in spread spectrum technology. CDMA uses unique spreading codes to spread the baseband data before transmission data. The performance of a CDMA system gets controlled by two types of interference, namely ISI and MAI which are the function of auto and cross correlation values of the spreading codes respectively. The existing codes using Additive White Gaussian Noise channel under multi-user has been compared with the Bit Error Rate(BER) performance.

Mobile devices have diffused into work by transitioning from being organizational assets to personal communication tools. This chapter examines the perceptions and practices of diverse types of workers, located around the globe, and reveals the often-hidden complexities surrounding mobile use at work. People can use their mobiles to be productive and connected on the job, but they also face challenges. The shift in control over communication means that organizations have reacted by creating bring-your-own-device-to-work policies, banning their employees from using personal mobiles, and practically forcing workers to provide their own devices and be accessible 24/7. Along the way, workers have had to negotiate with co-workers, managers, clients, friends, strangers, and family concerning how and when they use their mobiles. As they try to build bridges between work and personal life, struggles with self-management and temporal mismatches in the form of reachability can emerge.
