Spectrum of Neurological Symptoms in Glycosylphosphatidylinositol Biosynthesis Defects: Systematic Review

Background: Mutations of genes involved in the synthesis of glycosylphosphatidylinositol and glycosylphosphatidylinositol-anchored proteins lead to rare syndromes called glycosylphosphatidylinositol-anchored proteins biosynthesis defects. Alterations of their structure and function in these disorders impair often fundamental processes in cells, resulting in severe clinical image. This study aimed to provide a systematic review of GPIBD cases reports published in English-language literature.Methods: The browsing of open-access databases (PubMed, PubMed Central. and Medline) was conducted, followed by statistical analysis of gathered information concerning neurological symptomatology. The inclusion criteria were: studies on humans, age at onset (<18 y.o.), and report of GPIBD cases with adequate data on the genetic background and symptomatology. Exclusion criteria were: publication type (manuscripts, personal communication, review articles); reports of cases of GPI biosynthesis genes mutations in terms of other disorders; reports of GPIBD cases concentrating on non-neurological symptoms; or articles concentrating solely on the genetic issues of GPI biosynthesis. Risk of bias was assessed using Joanna Brigs Institute Critical Appraisal Checklists. Data synthesis was conducted using STATISTICA 13.3.721.1 (StatSoft Polska Sp. z.o.o.). Used tests were chi-square, Fisher's exact test (for differences in phenotype), and Mann-Whitney U test (for differences in onset of developmental delay).Results: Browsing returned a total of 973 articles which, after ruling out the repetitions and assessing the inclusion and exclusion criteria, led to final inclusion of 77 articles (337 GPIBD cases) in the analysis. The main outcomes were prevalence of neurological symptoms, onset and semiology of seizures and their response to treatment, and onset of developmental delay. Based on this data a synthesis of phenotypical differences between the groups of GPIBD cases and the general GPIBD cases population was made.Discussion: A synthetical analysis of neurological components in clinical image of GPIBD patients was presented. It highlights the main features of these disorders, which might be useful in clinical practice for consideration in differential diagnosis with children presenting with early-onset seizures and developmental delay. The limitation of this review is the scarcity of the specific data in some reports, concerning the semiology and onset of two main features of GPIBD.

Digital Transformation in Higher Education Institutions as a Driver of Social Oriented Innovations

Higher education institutions have in the digital transformation an opportunity to facilitate access to education for individuals of different social backgrounds. At the same time, it will provide them with the necessary tools and skills to face current global problems (poverty, health quality, income disparities, environmental crises, among others) from a transdisciplinary perspective. Progress in the digitalization of higher education has been significantly accelerated by the onset of a pandemics in early 2020 (in European conditions). Such a rapid and massive transition to distance (online) education with comprehensive support for digital technologies is unparalleled. The survey conducted reflects the consequences of this change. Results shows that digital transformation improves some of the most demanded skills in the new knowledge society (searching and processing information, digital communication and socialization or working with text). Likewise, it has an important role in reducing costs related to education, but also in degradation of abilities in personal communication.

The Role of Continuous Professional Development Workshops in the Technological-Pedagogical Skills Development of Teacher Trainers

University instructors' technological-pedagogical knowledge receives much attention in the current professional discourse. This chapter introduces a case study based on a workshop series organised by the members of the language pedagogy department of a Hungarian university for the technological-pedagogical development of the instructors owing to COVID-19-triggered emergency remote teaching. Ten participants took part in the workshops and the study, including the two researcher-participants. Through semi-structured interviews, triangulated with field notes and personal communication, it was found that the members of the department welcomed the workshop series, especially because it was tailored to their needs. The first remote teaching period posed many challenges, but because of the workshops, the instructors felt more secure to experiment with online teaching possibilities and were able to teach higher quality lessons. Participants also reported that the workshop series resulted in feeling a sense of community and that its affordances broadened their technological-pedagogical repertoire.

Development Trends of Digital Infrastructure

The goal of this chapter is to analyze the main trends in the development of information communication technology (ICT) infrastructure and to discuss ICT strategies for decision-making in the 21st century. The chapter begins with a discussion of the development of the internet and its impact on civilization and human society. Next, the chapter considers the development of smartphone applications as well as other technologies used for personal communication. After this, developments in hardware and machine software platforms are considered. The chapter concludes by analyzing three trends: developments in computer architecture, developments in computer design, and developments in IT design.

Facets of interaction between the Ministry of National Education and the Ministry of Culture of France in the musical and educational space

The problem of research. The relevance of the research is due to the urgent need to find new approaches to the musical development of students in general education, which makes it significant to refer to the experience of France in connection with the existence in the country of an original model of musical education with an established system of multifaceted partnerships controlled by the bodies of the Ministry of National Education and the Ministry of Culture of France. The purpose of the article: scientific and practical justification of the need to develop a Russian strategy of musical development based on the interaction of educational and cultural organizations. Materials and methods. As a methodological basis, a system-structural approach was used, which made it possible to conceptualize the data obtained as a result of the analysis of sources, as well as in the process of personal communication with French colleagues. The results of the study. The mechanism of the studied interaction in various forms of educational, extracurricular and out-of-school musical activities is based on a clearly structured scheme of cooperation between schools and partner structures in the field of culture and art at the state (conceptual), academic (coordination) and local (performing) levels. The impetus for the construction of this system of partnerships was the recognition by the pedagogical community and the authorities of France of the priority of musical education as a powerful stimulant for the development of personal, intellectual and creative abilities of students necessary for successful implementation in any field of activity. Discussion and conclusion. The initial impulse to the emergence of the concept of attracting artistic and cultural structures in the musical and educational field was the introduction in the early 80s of the twentieth century of the original system of professional and amateur musical training of students in the framework of general education in college and lyceum. In the future, the experience of partnership interaction in the field under study gradually spread not only to academic, but also to extracurricular and out-of-school activities. As an important "breakthrough" of the French musical and educational project, a significant contribution to the educational activities of musical and cultural centers of global importance should be recognized. The far-sighted policy of the French authorities aimed at substantial support of artistic, especially musical culture as the basis for the development of the whole society can serve as a strategic guideline for the modernization of the music education system in Russia in terms of developing management schemes and educational technologies based on the interaction of educational institutions with cultural and art institutions.

A Contrastive Stylistic Study of Some Selected Commercial Advertisements in English and Arabic

Publication is only one of the tools used by public relations, like advertising is one-way communication. Advertising , as a tool, has a great importance and influence in various business processes. It is a means of communication that based on the influence of one or more individuals; by the use of one of the means of promotion available to build communication between consumers and products; advertising is the method used by the trader to effect the buyer. A range of non-personal communication means and methods ; to convey ideas and promote products and services. The Declaration is an important means of media used by different enterprises to communicate with the public and the target customers of their business; so that , to advertise great importance in the work environment. Advertising or publicity is an indispensable information activity for economic activities such as industry, trade, services and other economic activities, as well as for charitable and non-profit organizations and organizations, without announcing their efforts, they will not receive the social and financial support necessary to continue their work and performance of their mission. The aims of this paper are to examine and identify the aspects of advertisements and to clarify the linguistic features by explaining all issues which are related to it with examples and giving a detailed account about the grammatical issue of ‘A linguistic study of advertisement in English and Arabic’ hoping to would be more interesting for English students and those who are specialized in English linguistics.

YULII MYKOLAIOVYCH YATCHENKO (1928–2020). MEMORIES OF THE ARTIST [publication of the document]

The article is a publication of the memories of Yulii Mykolaiovych Yatchenko, a Ukrainian painter, graduate of the Kyiv State Art Institute (KSAI), student of S. Hryhoriev, M. Sharonov, H. Melikhov, and K. Ieleva. Yulii Yatchenko dedicated almost his entire life to pedagogical and organizational work: Director of the Republican Art Secondary School named after T.H. Shevchenko, Professor of the Department of Drawing and Vice-Rector for scientific work of the KSAI, as well as he headed the Directorate of Art Exhibitions of the Ministry of Culture of the USSR. The manuscript work «Memories of the Artist» of Yulii Mykolaiovych Yatchenko was prepared by him for printing in 2014. The manuscript contains two parts: «Memories of the Artist. The Story» and «Work on the Images of Princes and Kings». Now the first part is published, in which the author recalls both his training at the KSAI (now — «the NAFAA») and the methods of work and education of the teachers; describes moments of the creative process over the painting «With the Dream of Peace. Rescuing Works of Dresden Art Gallery by Soviet Troops in 1945» (1959) and other major paintings; revives in memories trips to Dresden and communication with the management of the Dresden Gallery, visits of the Ukrainian delegation for culture to Portugal, creative trips to Lithuania and Latvia, stay in Sedniv and Kanev; as if relives the pleasant moments associated with personal exhibitions in the halls of the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture. Yulii Yatchenko also draws attention to the issues of pedagogy, drawing teaching methods, reflects on the needs of creative youth. Finally, the author dives into his childhood memories, verbally describing his family and his ancestors. The feature of «Memories of the Artist» of Yulii Yatchenko is the absence of a rigid chronology and informality of presentation; the artist wrote down his own memories in the sequence in which they surfaced in his memory. After reading the «Memories», there is a feeling of personal communication with Yulii Mykolaiovych Yatchenko. The publication is a unique original testimony of the artist, a representative of that generation, whose creative path began in the difficult postwar period, in times of severe ideological constraints. The material of his memories is useful for teachers, graduate and undergraduate students, as well as connoisseurs of art in general and the creativity of Yulii Mykolaiovych Yatchenko in particular.

Institutional Teaching Innovation under the Demand of Internet + PE

In order to study the effectiveness of student-based teaching methods, this study uses open-ended and closed-ended questionnaires to collect qualitative results and studies by collecting different types of data, including quantitative data of the body mass index. The results show that the biggest difference from the traditional teaching strategy is that the internet teaching model can help to improve personal communication ability and better develop interpersonal relationship. At the same time, through social interaction in e-learning, learners can cultivate their ability to find and solve problems, collect, analyze, and use information, and learn to share and cooperate. The research of the project can provide some reference ideas and theoretical basis for follow-up research.

Roles of Christian campus fellowships in the fight against cultism in Nigerian universities

Cultism is prevalent in most tertiary institutions in Africa. There is no gainsay that this vice is generally unacceptable from both socio-cultural and religious viewpoints. Unfortunately, despite the detrimental tendencies associated with it, some students actively engage in it. Hence, various governmental and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) have risen to campaign against cultism in tertiary institutions. The thrust of this research, therefore, is to investigate the roles of Christian campus fellowships in the fight against cultism amongst students of Nigerian universities, with reference to the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN). It also explores the challenges which the activities of cult groups pose to the university community. Utilising the descriptive method of data analysis, this work discovered that Christian campus fellowships are both a significant and a veritable tool in the fight against cultism in the UNN. As part of her primary and social responsibilities, Christian campus fellowships preach and teach against cult activities in tertiary institutions. They also intervene through some philanthropic gestures and other ecclesiastical activities which are primarily geared towards inculcating right values and godly characters in students, encouraging students who are members of cult groups to denounce their membership and also discouraging students from joining cult groups. The data for this research were drawn from both primary (personal communication) and secondary sources (books, journals and internet materials). The major finding of this article reveals that Christian campus fellowships in the UNN, have made remarkable strides in the campaign against the involvement of students in cultism.Intradisciplinary and/or interdisciplinary implications: The article explicitly lays bare the contributions of Christian campus fellowships in order to bring cult practices to a barest minimum amongst students of the UNN. The study contributes to modern discourses on juvenile delinquency with respect to disciplines such as religion, sociology, social work and psychology.

Qualities of Effective EFL Teachers in the 21st Century: A Reflection From Ecuador

English Language Teachers (ELTs), to be effective in the teaching and learning process in contemporary society, need to be not only competent with qualities of instructional skills but also with qualities of personal traits. This paper aims to offer ELTs reflection around the most vital qualities of personal traits, which are required to contribute to the design of more effective EFL teaching and learning milieus. To that end, and supported by a pilot study carried out to construct a master´s degree program in Teaching Local and Foreign Languages in an Ecuadorian Public University, we gathered, in four major categories, the scattered and unclassified qualities of personal traits which are available in the related literature. In this framework, the qualities of personal traits that ELTs must possess are bound with virtues such as perpetual learning, humanism, instructional-personal communication, and cross-culturalism. In general, this article may be helpful for ELTs to visualize the qualities of personal traits, which are needed to face the English as a Foreign Language (EFL) education of the 21st century.
