Recent theoretical studies of the molecular and electronic structure of tetra[(phosphine)gold(I)]- phosphonium cations, [(H3PAu)4P]+, gave contradictory results favoring either a classical tetrahedral or a unique square-pyramidal structure of the PAu4 unit. A tetrahedral structure had previously been confirmed for the corresponding ammonium cations [(Ph3PAu)4N]+, while a square-pyramidal structure was discovered for the corresponding arsonium cations [(Ph3PAu)4As]+, but there is as yet no unequivocal experimental evidence for the structure of phosphonium cations like [(Ph3PAu)4P]+ in an innocent environment. - In this account the structural chemistry of this class of onium salts and related species is reviewed. The data accumulated to date provide virtually compelling evidence that the phosphonium cations should have a ground state with a square pyramidal PAu4 core unit, provided that no external constraints are imposed. For large central elements (P, As), aurophilic interactions appear to drive the reorganization from tetrahedral to square-pyramidal skeletons in which a maximum number of short Au---Au contacts can be maintained. For the small central element N, similar interactions are already realized in the tetrahedral structure.

Abstract Connections between the units of the mental lexicon store information as complex networks, where nodes represent words. With the emergence of network science characteristics of this mental network can be quantified. Present paper investigates the network structure of the mental lexicon of a non-Indo-European language, Hungarian, using a word association database which collected word association data online. The data is examined with statistical measures of networks: path length and degree centrality are calculated. Comparing the network characteristics of the database to the English South Florida Word Association Database we found that both networks display similar characteristics. We show that the central elements of the two databases are the same words (5 out of 7) and that the most central element in the Hungarian database is money, regardless the used centrality measure. The Hungarian database possesses a single, highly connected core, which defines the network properties of the whole database. This connected core is responsible for the short paths inside the lexicon.

A nearlattice S is a meet semilattice together with the property that any two elements possessing a common upper bound have a supremum. It is well known that if n ? S is a neutral and upper element then its isotope Sn = (S; ?) is again a nearlattice, where x ? y = (x ? y) ? (x ? n) ? (y ? n) for all x, y ? S . In this paper we have discussed the central elements in a nearlattice and also in a lattice. We included several characterizations of these elements. We showed that for a central element n ? S, Pn(S) ? (n]d × [n), where Pn(S) is the set of principal n-ideals of S. Then we proved that for a central element n ? S, an element t ? S is central if and only if it is central in Sn. We also proved that for a lattice L, Ln is again a lattice if and only if n is central. Finally we showed that B is a Boolean algebra if and only if Bn is a Boolean algebra with same complement when n is central. Moreover, B ? Bn.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.3329/ganit.v31i0.10312GANIT J. AbstractIt is proven that the dimensions of the homogeneous summands of a nontrivial Z graded module for an infinité dimensional Heisenberg algebra on which a central element acts as nonzero scalar are unbounded. This result is then applied to show that the central elements of an affine Lie algebra act trivially on any indecomposable diagonalizable module whose weight spaces are of bounded dimension.

For a variety with weak existentially definable factor congruences, we characterize when the properties “[Formula: see text] is a central element” and “[Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] are complementary central elements” are definable by [Formula: see text]-formulas and by [Formula: see text]-formulas.

Abstract:The sharing of knowledge worldwide using hypermedia facilities and fast communication protocols (i.e., Mosaic and World Wide Web) provides a growth capacity with tremendous versatility and efficacy. The example of ExPASy, a molecular biology server developed at the University Hospital of Geneva, is striking. ExPASy provides hypermedia facilities to browse through several up-to-date biological and medical databases around the world and to link information from protein maps to genome information and diseases. Its extensive access is open through World Wide Web. Its concept could be extended to patient data including texts, laboratory data, relevant literature findings, sounds, images and movies. A new hypermedia culture is spreading very rapidly where the international fast transmission of documents is the central element. It is part of the emerging new “information society”.

The paper considers monitoring of environmental change as the central element of environmental regulation. Monitoring, as each kind of principalagent relations, easily gives rise to corruptive behavior. In the paper we analyze economic models of environmental monitoring with high costs, incomplete information and corruption. These models should be the elements of environmental economics and are needed to create an effective system of nature protection measures.

Abstractthe paper continues the research started in the paper “Conception and fabrication using knowledge management principles”. The theoretical guidelines found in the mentioned paper crystallises at a practical level in an original product – a software solution. The proposed solution has as a central element notion concerning the design and manufacturing of straight axes in the automotive industry. The application field for the proposed example regards the educational area; the software guides the user by theoretical concepts, examples, problems through practical aspects concerning the design and manufacturing of a part belonging to the axes family specific to the automotive industry. The software was developed using the Access work environment.

Abstract: Solidarity, a modern word and concept, has old roots in the concept of koinonia (fellowship) as it is understood in the New Testament. David G. Horrell even maintains that what we now call solidarity, functions as a meta norm in Paul’s ethics, since phenomena of solidarity are clearly present in the central elements of Paul’s community building. Reference is made to the two basic rituals, Baptism and the Lord’s Supper, which build unity in diversity; to the most frequently used form of address, adelphoi/brothers, which asks for familial treatment of one another; also to the special way in which Paul often tries to restore unity in the middle of conflicts; and especially to his metaphor of the Church as the one body of Christ with many different parts that need and support one another. When speaking about the collections as a sign of the Greek community’s solidarity with the poor community in Jerusalem, Paul refers to Christ’s solidarity as the source of solidarity within and among communities. Keywords: Solidarity, fellowship, David Horrell, Paul, Ethics, baptism, the Lord’s Supper, brothers, Body of Christ, Christ’s solidarity. Kata-kata kunci: Solidaritas, persekutuan, David Horrell, Paulus, etika, baptisan, Perjamuan Tuhan, saudara-saudara, Tubuh Kristus, solidaritas Kristus.
