The study of extreme, strongly exposed points of closed, convex and bounded sets in Banach spaces has been developed especially by the interconnection of the Radon–Nikodým property with the geometry of closed, convex and bounded subsets of Banach spaces [5],[2] . In the theory of ordered Banach spaces as well as in the Choquet theory, [4], we are interested in the study of a special type of convex sets, not necessarily bounded, namely the bases for the positive cone. In [7] the geometry (extreme points, dentability) of closed and convex subsets K of a Banach space X with the Radon-Nikodým property is studied and special emphasis has been given to the case where K is a base for acone P of X. In [6, Theorem 1], it is proved that an infinite-dimensional, separable, locally solid lattice Banach space is order-isomorphic to l1 if, and only if, X has the Krein–Milman property and its positive cone has a bounded base.

In this paper we study the existence of strongly exposed points in unbounded closed and convex subsets of the positive cone of ordered Banach spaces and we prove the following characterization for the space l1(Γ): A Banach lattice X is order-isomorphic to l1(Γ) iff X has the Schur property and X* has quasi-interior positive elements.

AbstractWe prove new characterisations of exponential stability for positive linear discrete-time systems in ordered Banach spaces, in terms of small-gain conditions. Such conditions have played an important role in the finite-dimensional systems theory, but are relatively unexplored in the infinite-dimensional setting, yet. Our results are applicable to discrete-time systems in ordered Banach spaces that have a normal and generating positive cone. Moreover, we show that our stability criteria can be considerably simplified if the cone has non-empty interior or if the operator under consideration is quasi-compact. To place our results into context we include an overview of known stability criteria for linear (and not necessarily positive) operators and provide full proofs for several folklore characterizations from this domain.

We study the Bishop-Phelps-Bollobás property for numerical radius (in short, BPBp-nu) and find sufficient conditions for Banach spaces to ensure the BPBp-nu. Among other results, we show thatL1μ-spaces have this property for every measureμ. On the other hand, we show that every infinite-dimensional separable Banach space can be renormed to fail the BPBp-nu. In particular, this shows that the Radon-Nikodým property (even reflexivity) is not enough to get BPBp-nu.

In the paper we establish some conditions under which a given sequence of polynomials on a Banach space X supports entire functions of unbounded type, and construct some counter examples. We show that if X is an infinite dimensional Banach space, then the set of entire functions of unbounded type can be represented as a union of infinite dimensional linear subspaces (without the origin). Moreover, we show that for some cases, the set of entire functions of unbounded type generated by a given sequence of polynomials contains an infinite dimensional algebra (without the origin). Some applications for symmetric analytic functions on Banach spaces are obtained.

In this paper we introduce and study the M-hypercyclicity of strongly continuous cosine function on separable complex Banach space, and we give the criteria for cosine function to be M-hypercyclic. We also prove that every separable infinite dimensional complex Banach space admits a uniformly continuous cosine function.

AbstractLet B be an ordered Banach space with ordered Banach dual space. Let N denote the canonical half-norm. We give an alternative proof of the following theorem of Robinson and Yamamuro: the norm on B is α-monotone (α ≥ 1) if and only if for each f in B* there exists g ∈ B* with g ≥ 0, f and ∥g∥ ≤ α N(f). We also establish a dual result characterizing α-monotonicity of B*.

In this paper we investigate analytic functions of unbounded type on a complex infinite dimensional Banach space X. The main question is: under which conditions is there an analytic function of unbounded type on X such that its Taylor polynomials are in prescribed subspaces of polynomials? We obtain some sufficient conditions for a function f to be of unbounded type and show that there are various subalgebras of polynomials that support analytic functions of unbounded type. In particular, some examples of symmetric analytic functions of unbounded type are constructed.

AbstractThe notion of the frame of the unit ball of Banach spaces was introduced to construct a new calculation method for the Dunkl-Williams constant. In this paper, we characterize the frame of the unit ball by using k-extreme points and extreme points of the unit ball of two-dimensional subspaces. Furthermore, we show that the frame of the unit ball is always closed, and is connected if the dimension of the space is not less than three. As infinite dimensional examples, the frame of the unit balls of c 0 and ℓ p are determined.
