SummaryCumulate apatite crystals with infilled tube-like cavities parallel to the c-axis are described from a layered gabbro intrusion in Northern Norway. These are considered to be skeletal crystals produced by rapid growth in the supercooled roof zone of the magma chamber. At least two stages of growth are suggested on the basis of the morphology of the apatites. The interiors of the crystals contain phases representing the trapped magma or the cumulus mineral phase within which they are enclosed. Recirculation of the apatite primocrysts by convection currents is indicated by the interrupted form of some of the tubes.

During the growth of plant, the very distinct increase of enzymatic activity of peroxidase and catalase was observed, but in case of acid phosphatase in smaller degree. An irrigation caused the decreasing of activity of all tested enzymes in both stages of cabbage growth. However, in case of leeks leaves sprinkling irrigation stimulated activity of catalase and acid phosphatase in both stages and peroxidase in the second stage of growth. The effectiveness of the mineral nutritive was differentiated, and often correlated with a level of soil moisture, kind of plant and its stage of growth.

Pea-wheat bi-crop silages were reported to have moderate nutritive value when the proportion of peas in the sward was less than 200 g/kg (Adesoganet al., 1999). These authors also suggested that improvements in the digestibility, intake and nitrogen (N) balance of the forages may result from increasing the proportion of peas in the sward. This experiment was designed to examine this theory by determining thein vivoapparent digestibility, N retention and voluntary feed intake (VFI) in sheep of pea-wheat bi-crop silages containing different ratios of peas to wheat and harvested at two stages of growth.

AbstractDetailed remapping of the Palaeogene Ardnamurchan Centre 3 gabbros, NW Scotland, suggests that this classic sequence of ring-intrusions forms a composite layered lopolith. The area mapped by previous studies as the Great Eucrite gabbro intrusion comprises 70% by area of Centre 3. Field observations suggest that most of the other smaller ring-intrusions of Centre 3 (interior to the Great Eucrite) constitute either distinct petrological facies of the same intrusion, or included country-rock or peridotite blocks. These observations, together with syn-magmatically deformed inward-dipping modal layering, are used here to support the interpretation that significant central sagging occurred in the intrusion at a late stage in its crystallization history.

Forage sorghum presents tall plants, what makes mechanicalseed harvesting a difficult task. Plant hormones can reduce plant height andfacilitate the harvesting. Thus, the objective of this study was to evaluatethe effect of the growth regulator trinexapac-ethyl on plant height and seedyield in forage sorghum. This research was carried out at Embrapa Maizeand Sorghum, in two seasons (2017 and 2018), in a randomized completeblock design, four replications and three varieties (BRS Ponta Negra, 1141574and 0947216) under application of Trinexapac-ethyl in two stages of the plantgrowth (V8, V12, V8 + V12). The characteristics evaluated were: plant height,seed yield and mass of 1000 seeds. The effect of the hormone was significantin both stages of growth, with a significant reduction in plant height. Thehormone applied twice at growth stages V8 + V12 had a greater effect inreducing plant height. However, the hormone reduced seed yield in the threevarieties, what implies the need for further studies comparing the advantageof plant height reduction and the loss in seed yield.
