Abstract Brown tumor (BT) is the pathological expression of osteitis fibrosa cystica owing to primary and secondary hyperparathyroidism (HPT). It is a rare benign lesion of skeletal system that usually affects the facial bones, clavicles, ribs, pelvis and extremities. The purpose of this case report is to present the clinical, pathological and radiological findings of BT, rarely seen in adults, originating from the giant parathyroid adenoma and emerging as the first clinical sign of HPT. The patient underwent a successful parathyroidectomy operation and on the first postoperative day, the patient was discharged without any complications. Continuous...

Fibrous dysplasia is a benign condition that can affect the skull and facial bones and cause a broad spectrum of otolaryngologic conditions. We present the case of a boy with polyostotic fibrous dysplasia with involvement of the temporal bone that was first diagnosed when he was 9 years old. His condition eventually became complicated by cholesteatoma and thrombophlebitis of the left transverse and sigmoid sinuses, and he died of his disease at the age of 19 years. We discuss these and other complications of fibrous dysplasia of the temporal bone and their management.

Latar belakang. Background. Ameloblastoma can destruct the facial bones both the maxilla and mandible. The appearance of recurrent tumor is occured if the tumor is not totally removed. The resection of the affected bone is the common treatment of the tumor. These treatment lead complications such as malocclusion, abnormaldental and jaws development especially in children and adolescents, aesthetic problems, and psychological depressions. Therefore, the alternative treatment of it tumor is dredging method. Objection. This case report describe that dredging method treatment on recurrent ameloblastoma on male patient aged twenty seven years old, can eliminate patients’s psychological depressions. Case. Male patient aged twenty seven years old has a lump problem in mouth, painless, and has progressive enlargement, asymmetry on the right face, no change in skin color. Patients admitted to surgery seven years ago. On intra oral examination found a lump in the mandible in buccal area of the tooth 42 to 46. On palpation examination, there were fluctuations, mild pain and normal color mucosa. The panoramic photograph was found radiolucent area with clear boundaries of the region 42 to 46 by engaging aspect of teeth 42 and 43. The results of hispathology examination assessed a unicystic amelobastoma follicular type. Treatment. Dredging method was done by performing enucleation and consecutive curettage. Second month after the first treatment, the enucleation and the curettage was repeated then need histopathological examination. The treatment was repeated again in fifth month after the first treatment repeated every three months until histopathological examination declared free of tumor cells. Conclusion. Dredging has been performed on two patients with ameloblastoma with satisfactory results and continued observation.

Gardner syndrome (GS) with odontogenic sinusitis is rare but should be suspected in patients with multiple osteomas of the skull and facial bones, excess teeth, impacted teeth, and odontomas. Early diagnosis of GS and treatment for familial adenomatous polyposis may improve prognosis.

Introduction: Gorham-Stout disease is a rare idiopathic condition of the bone that is characterized by a massive and spontaneous osteolysis, with a vascular or lymphatic proliferation in bone, which is then replaced by fibrous tissue. Observation: a 16-year-old patient was referred to the maxillofacial surgery department to remove ectopic teeth bilaterally in the ramus. He had Gorham-Stout disease, managed for many years in orthopedic surgery department for a lower limb lesion and in neurosurgery department for a breach of the meninges. He was treated for 4 years with bisphosphonates. The removal of the ectopic teeth went well, with a simple postoperative course. Discussion: Gorham-Stout disease physiopathology remains unknown. Facial bones are often involved, especially the mandible. There are many possible treatments, but, due to the rarity of the disease, no therapeutic consensus exists. Bisphosphonates seem to be a good way to control this condition. So far, no case of bisphosphonates related osteonecrosis of the jaw has been reported in children. Conclusion: Gorham-Stout disease can involve the mandible and may lead to ectopic teeth.

Abstract Introduction. Bisphosphonates represent a class of anti-resorbable bone care drugs that inhibit the function of active osteoclasts and reduce bone resorption. They are used in the Oncology and Hematology specialties as adjuvants in the treatment of osteolytic bone metastases and associate osteonecrosis of the maxillo-facial bones, most commonly of the mandible, as an adverse reaction. Material and method: case report. We present the case of a 65-years-old female patient, with breast cancer and bone metastasis, under chronic treatment with bisphosphonates. She presented a chronically odontogenic suppurative maxillary rhinosinusitis induced by maxillary post-extraction osteonecrosis on the background of bisphosphonate treatment and fistula in the upper right vestibule. Surgery under general anesthesia and sequestrectomy were performed. Discussion. The patient also associated coagulation disorders with mixed mechanism, adding an element of major surgical difficulty requiring a massive intraoperative transfusion with fresh refrigerated plasma to control hemostasis. Conclusions: The side effects of bisphosphonates used in the treatment of bone metastasis on the maxillofacial bones are significant. For this reason, the dental extraction in patients treated with bisphosphonates should be done with great caution and maxillary suppurative inflammation in post-extraction context in these patients should raise the suspicion of underlying bone necrosis.

Desmoplastic fibroma is a rare benign and locally aggressive myofibroblastic tumour, frequently seen in the second or third decades of life. The mandible and the maxilla are infrequently involved, and the mandible is the most commonly affected of the facial bones. Nevertheless, reports of desmoplastic fibroma affecting the mandible are scarce in the literature. This article reports a rare case of desmoplastic fibroma affecting the angle of the mandible in a 10-year-old Indian male. In addition, a review of literature relating to desmoplastic fibroma affecting the angle of the mandible is presented.

Covid-19 is an infection caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2. During second wave in India a serious fungal infection known as black fungus, mucormycosis has been increasingly found in covid -19 recovered patients. It causes necrosis in the head and neck region including nose, paransal sinuses, orbits and facial bones and intracranial spread. If not diagnosed early this disease progresses rapidly causing high mortality and high morbidity. A case of 60 year old female patient of post covid home isolation with very mild symptoms only of red lesion on the palate. We are presenting this rare case for its clinical ndings and awareness.
