A 12 years 6 months old Indian male presented with a chief complaint of irregular upper and lower front teeth. Patient exhibited a mild convex profile on Class l skeletal base with slightly decreased vertical proportions. This was complicated by severe upper and lower labial segment crowding. Also the molar relationship was half unit class ll bilaterally. Since the patient did not want to go for extraction of premolars, treatment involved use of Pendulum appliance along with upper and lower pre-adjusted edgewise appliance (0.022x0.028” slot) with MBT prescription. Various elastics and overlay wires were used along with proximal stripping for the correction of severe crowding in upper and lower anterior teeth.: Clinically Angle’s Class I occlusion was achieved bilaterally with good intercuspal relationship. Vertical growth continued throughout the treatment.

Abstract Background: The azygos lobe is a rare anatomical variant seen in the upper lobe of right lung. It occurs during embryological development due to the failure of posterior cardinal vein to migrate supero-medially. It is often an incidental finding on imaging and is asymptomatic in majority of cases. Tuberculosis involving the azygos lobe is extremely rare. Only a few cases of tuberculosis involving the azygos lobe have been reported in literature.Case presentation: We present a rare case report of tuberculosis infection involving the azygos lobe in a 57-year-old Indian male with history of chronic cough, fever, haemoptysis and weight loss. Conclusions: The azygos lobe is usually asymptomatic, but it may be misdiagnosed as bulla, lung cyst or abscess. In rare cases it may be associated with certain pathology such as tuberculosis, other infections, and lung cancer. Hence, it is pertinent for a radiologist to be aware of this variant when reporting chest imaging cases.

Background: Data on relationship between serum testosterone and endothelial dysfunction measured by brachial artery flow-mediated dilatation (BAFMD) in Indian subset are scarce. The present study was envisaged to assess the correlation between serum testosterone and endothelial dysfunction measured by BAFMD.Methods: From October 2013 till September 2014, 92 Indian male patients aged 40-60 years who underwent investigation of flow-mediated dilatation of the brachial artery using ultra sonography were included. The association between serum testosterone and BAFMD percent-measured endothelial dysfunction was examined. Results: Multivariate regression analysis in 92 Indian male patients (mean age 53.12±6.3 years) revealed that low levels of total serum, serum free and serum bioavailable testosterone were significantly associated with BAFMD% and were independent of age, hypertension, diabetes, body mass index (BMI), current smoking and hyperlipidaemia (p<0.001). The total serum, serum free and serum bioavailable testosterone were positively correlated with BAFMD% with Pearson correlation coefficients of r=0.572, r=0.525 and r=0.547, respectively (p<0.001).Conclusions: Low levels of total serum, serum free and serum bioavailable testosterone were significantly associated with BAFMD%-measured endothelial dysfunction, irrespective of cardiovascular risk factors.

Buddhist protectionism in contemporary Myanmar revolves around fears of the decline of Buddhism and deracination of the amyo (group/“race”). Buddhist protectionists and Burmese nationalists have declared Islam and Muslims the greatest threat to race and religion, and Myanmar has witnessed widespread distribution of anti-Islamic and anti-Muslim content, as well as massive violence against Muslim minority communities, the Rohingya in particular. The Indian neologism “Love Jihad” has scarce reference in contemporary Burmese Buddhist discourses, but, importantly, the tropes of aggressive male Muslim sexuality and (forced) conversion through marriage (“love jihad”) have been one of the core issues in Buddhist protectionism in Myanmar. The article shows that such tropes of the threatening foreign male have strong historical legacies in Myanmar, going back to colonial Burma when Burmese concerns over Indian male immigrant workers resulted in both anti-Indian violence and anti-miscegenation laws. Importantly, however, compared to colonial Indophobia and military era xenophobic nationalism, contemporary constructions are informed by new political realities and global forces, which have changed Buddhist protectionist imaginaries of gender and sexuality in important ways. Building on Sara R. Farris’ concept of “femonationalism”, and Roger Brubaker’s concept of civilizationism, the article shows how Global Islamophobia, as well as global discourses on women’s rights and religious freedom, have informed Buddhist protectionism beyond ethnonationalism in the traditional sense.

Purpose: To present the clinical features of a rare case of varicella zoster infection following one dose of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination in an elderly Asian Indian male. Methods: Retrospective observational case report. Results: A 71-year-old gentleman presented to us with complaints of reduced vision associated with redness and pain in his right eye for 1 week. On examination he revealed a right eye pan uveitis picture with circumcorneal congestion, multiple fine keratic precipitates, anterior chamber cells and flare, vitritis and widespread areas of acute retinal necrosis. His left eye was within normal limits. Ten days prior to the presentation he had received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine following which he had developed fever for 2 days that preceded the red eye. The patient’s aqueous sample tested positive for varicella zoster virus (VZV) by nested polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method. Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) in reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) assay from the aqueous and also from the nasopharyngeal swab was negative. Conclusion and significance: To the best of our knowledge this is the earliest description of a case that has a viral reactivation following COVID-19 vaccination. Elderly people with pre-existing comorbidities, may be at a risk of both primary coronavirus infection and unconceivable risk of aberrant immune reactions leading to a different virus infection or reactivation need to be kept in mind. We present a possible link between SARS-CoV-2 virus vaccination and varicella zoster reactivation in this patient.

Background: SARS-COV-2 pandemic is one of the biggest health challenges for modern era and this type of pandemic was never witnessed in recent past. To control the pandemic various measures were taken by various authorities like lockdown and shutdown. This study was meant to find the effect of this new way of social isolation during lockdown on Indian male population.

Methods: The study was conducted in IMS and SUM hospital, Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Those having routine blood check-up before lockdown in the hospital were again re-evaluated for their lipid profile after lockdown. Only male between age group of 20 to 59 included in the study who were mostly confined to home during lockdown. Female, front line workers and people already having deranged lipid profile were excluded from the study.

Results: It was found that there are significant variations in the triglyceride and cholesterol level in men before and after lockdown whereas the level of HDL did not show any significant variation.

Conclusions: From above study it may be concluded that though lockdown is somehow able to control the rapid spread of the virus but it has negative effect on the lipid profile and indirectly cardiovascular health of a man.
