I explored the relationship between forgiveness and subjective well-being (SWB), and the mediating effect of social support in this relationship. Participants were 443 college students from Henan, China, who completed the Heartland Forgiveness Scale, Perceived Social Support Scale, and Subjective Well-Being Scale. The results show that both interpersonal forgiveness and self-forgiveness were significantly correlated with SWB. Moreover, social support partially mediated the effects of both self-forgiveness and interpersonal forgiveness on SWB. These findings extend prior research and elucidate how forgiveness can influence SWB in college students.

In order to explore the specific influence mechanism of professional commitment on subjective Well-being, this paper makes a research questionnaire based on professional commitment scale, subjective Well-being scale, academic Self-efficacy scale and social support scale, and surveys 356 college students nationwide. The obtained data are analyzed empirically using SPSS22.0 and Amos22.0. The results show that: (1) Professional commitment and academic Self-efficacy can positively predict subjective Well-being; (2) Academic Self-efficacy has a partial mediating effect on the relationship between professional commitment and subjective Well-being; (3) The moderating effect of social support occurs in the direct path of professional commitment’s influence on subjective Well-being and the indirect path of professional commitment’s influence on academic Self-efficacy. By constructing a moderated mediation model, this study reveals the mechanism of professional commitment on subjective Well-being, and provides reference for analyzing, predicting, shaping and correcting college students’ cognition and behavior, as well as helping to solve their psychological problems.

Social support has been linked to numerous adaptive psychosocial health outcomes. The Brief Perceived Social Support Questionnaire (BPSSQ) is a newly developed measure of general social support. This study aimed to test the psychometric properties and dimensionality of the BPSSQ in Turkish language and tested the mediating effect of resilience in the relationship between social support and satisfaction with life. Participants included 202 college students (69.3% females), with a mean age of 22.58 years (SD=1.26) who completed online measures of social support, resilience, and satisfaction with life. As expected, the BPSSQ provided a one-factor structure with a satisfactory internal consistency. Social support significantly predicted resilience and satisfaction with life. Resilience also predicted satisfaction with life. Furthermore, the results supported the hypothesis of mediating role of resilience in the relationship between social support and satisfaction with life. These results are important in terms of providing evidence of the underlying mechanism between social support and satisfaction with life. Future intervention efforts aimed at increasing social support and satisfaction with life may benefit from resilience.

Prior studies have found an inconclusive relationship between social networking site (SNS) usage and users’ subjective well-being. Passive SNS usage may be detrimental to subjective well-being, because it cannot provide social support and may evoke envy and jealousy. Conversely, it is also possible that lower subjective well-being may predict higher passive SNS usage, which can be used as a means to relieve stress. To examine this reciprocal process, a two-wave study among a sample of Chinese college students was conducted ( N = 350 at Time 1, 265 at Time 2). Data were analyzed with structural modeling. Cross-lagged analysis indicated that passive SNS usage at Time 1 predicted a decrease in subjective well-being at Time 2. Lower subjective well-being at Time 1 also predicted an increase in passive SNS usage at Time 2. These findings deepen our understanding of the complicated association between SNS usage and well-being and has implications for how to help individuals use SNS healthily.
