The effects of NAA application, cincturing and shoot-tip removal on the incidence of premature fruit drop were investigated in orchard-grown trees of Macadamia integrifolia cv. Kakea. A single, post-anthesis application of NAA (1 ppm) increased (P < 0.05) the final set of macadamia fruit by 35%. Limb cincturing combined with shoot-tip removal increased (P < 0.05) initial fruit set and possibly final set. Cincturing alone was less effective and shoot-tip removal had no effect alone.

The plant cuttings is one of the most common methods of vegetative reproduction which is, today, used extensively due to low cost. In order to study the effect of various concentrations of Naphthalene acetic acid (NAA) and Indole acetic acid (IAA) on the rooting of semi- hardwood cuttings of Dalbergia sissoo , an experiment was carried out in a private field in Koya city in 2014. In this research, the treatments were prepared to include hormone of Naphthalene acetic acid in four levels of: (0, 100, 300 and 500 ppm) and Indole acetic acid in four levels of: (0, 100, 300 and 500 ppm), and the bottom part of the cutting was dipped into above solutions for 30 seconds. The results showed that the maximum percentage of the shooted cuttings, shoot length, number of main branch, diameter of main branch, leaf area, number & length of root, dry weight & biomass &dry matter of shoot, fresh &dry weight of root, biomass &dry matter of root and chlorophyll a belonged to IAA treatment with concentration of 500 ppm, NAA treatment with concentration of 500 ppm. Nitrogen and protein increased with concentration 300 ppm for IAA amd NAA auxins. The highest length of root belonged to IAA treatment with concentration of 500 ppm. All growth parameters were increased up to the highest concentrations of IAA 500 ppm. IAA was the most effective in promoting growth of Dalbergia sissoo cuttings.

The present experiment was conducted to optimize protocols for in vitro propagation of banana (Musa sp.) cv. ‘Patakpura’ (AAB), supplemented with different growth regulators. Shoot tips obtained from sword suckers were cultured aseptically on MS medium supplemented with different concentrations of cytokinins like 6-Benzylaminopurine (BAP) and Kinetin (KN) for multiplication of shootsand auxins such as indole acetic acid (IAA) and naphthalene acetic acid (NAA) for induction of roots. The best result from the initial culture was obtained from MS medium supplimented with 4 mg/l BAP + 0.5 mg/l IAA. The highest shoot fresh weight, shoot length and number of shoots per explant were recorded from MS medium supplemented with 4 mg/l BAP + 0.5 mg/l IAA + 0.25 mg/l NAA. Therefore, the MS medium supplemented with 4 mg/l BAP + 0.5 mg/l IAA + 0.25 mg/l NAA was found to be most effective and productive combination for shoot multiplication and proliferation of the culture in vitro. IAA at a concentration of 1 mg/l was found to be most suitable for rooting of the shoots. Bangladesh J. Agril. Res. 44(4): 641-648, December 2019

ABSTRACT Carbaryl or the mixture of carbaryl with NAA (naphthalene acetic acid) or BA (benzyladenine) are the post-bloom chemical thinners most widely used in apple thinning in Brazil. The marketing restriction of carbaryl demands new options of apple post-bloom thinners, requiring the evaluation of others compounds for this purpose. Metamitron is one of the substances that may be used in chemical thinning of apples. Metamitron was evaluated at two concentrations, alone or in mixture with BA, in ‘MaxiGala’, ‘Fuji Suprema’ and ‘Fred Hough’ apple cultivars. Applications of metamitron at 384 mg L-1 and at 768 mg L-1 in a mixture with BA, ranging from 40 mg L-1 to 80 mg L-1, sprayed on fruits with diameter ranging from 5 to 25 mm were compared with the standard treatment and hand thinning. The experimental design was a randomized complete block with 4-6 repetitions of a single plant. The variables analyzed were: fruit set (%); percentage of floral clusters with 1, 2, 3, 4 or more fruits; fruit yield (kg); average fruit fresh mass (g) and percentage of dropped fruit after thinning. Metamitron alone or in combination with BA reduced production per plant and significantly increased the fresh weight of fruits in all cultivars tested. Metamitron at 800 mg L-1 resulted in excessive fruit thinning, especially in ‘MaxiGala’ cultivar. Metamitron or metamitron + BA have potential to compose the program of chemical thinning of apple trees to replace carbaryl.

Jumlah jenis positif 20 jenis (91%) dan konsentrasi IAA yang dihasilkan mencapai kisaran 0,96-115,63 mg/L.Kata kunci: bakteri endofit; IAA; ubi jalar; L-triptofan ABSTRACTPlant-bacteria associations, can promote plant growth by both direct and indirect mechanisms. One of direct mechanisms is that bacteria can produce and secrete indole-3-acetic acid (IAA, auxin) growth regulators. This study aims to examine the ability of sweet potato endophytic bacteria to produce IAA. The detection of IAA production was conducted by colorimetric technique. IAA production analysis was carried out with addition and without addition of L-tryptophan. Without the addition of L-tryptophan, a total of 19 species produced IAA with a concentration range of 0.29-7.21 mg/L. With the addition of L-tryptophan, the number of positive species and the concentration of IAA produced increased significantly. The number of positive species was 20 species (91%) and the concentration of IAA produced reached a range of 0.96-115.63 mg/L.Keywords: endophytes bacterial; IAA; sweet potato; L-tryptophan
