ABSTRACT Helicobacter pylori is a gram-negative pathogen that colonizes the stomachs of over half the world's population and causes a spectrum of gastric diseases including gastritis, ulcers, and gastric carcinoma. The H. pylori species exhibits unusually high levels of genetic variation between strains. Here we announce the complete genome sequence of H. pylori strain G27, which has been used extensively in H. pylori research.

Helicobacter pylori ATCC 43504 is a type strain isolated from a gastric cancer patient in Australia and is commonly used for pathogenicity studies. In this study, we report the complete genome sequence of a strain that can infect gerbils. The data provide a basis for future H. pylori research.

We present here the first complete genome sequence of Helicobacter pylori strain GD63, isolated from a 72-year-old male Vietnamese patient with a chronic gastric ulcer. The genome consists of a 1.6-Mbp chromosome and an 8.9-kbp plasmid.

Helicobacter pylori -induced gastritis is a risk factor for developing gastric pathologies. Here, we report the complete genome sequence of a multidrug-resistant H. pylori strain isolated from a chronic gastritis patient in Mexico City, Mexico. Nonvirulent VacA and cag -pathogenicity island (PAI) genotypes were found, but the presence of a potential mobilizable plasmid carrying an IS 605 element is of outstanding interest.

Helicobacter pylori infection is a risk factor for the development of gastric cancer and other gastroduodenal diseases. We report here the complete genome sequence of H. pylori strain 29CaP, isolated from a Mexican patient with gastric cancer. The genomic data analysis revealed a cag -negative H. pylori strain that contains a prophage sequence.
