The aim: Is to determine the tactics and methods of treatment of bezoars of the gastrointestinal tract. Materials and methods: From 2001 to 2019, 17 patients were diagnosed with “bezoar”. Results: Due to the “weariness” of the clinic, the diagnosis was made in the first 3 days only for 3 (17,6 %) patients. On the basis of the obtained average pH values for 4 (23,5 %) patients established moderate hypoacid, for 4 (23,5 %) - pronounced hypoacid, for 6 (35,3 %) - anacid. For 5 (29,4 %) patients, the bezoars were withdrawn on the first attempt, while the other 5 (29,4 %) were “lumped”. In the course of fibrogastroscopic examination, all patients were diagnosed with impaired motor-evacuation function of the stomach: gastroesophageal and duodenogastric refluxes, presence of passive discharge of the contents of the stomach into the esophagus. Conclusions: Therefore, the preconditions for the development of bezoars may be: hypo- and anacid, impaired motor-evacuation function of the stomach, chronic gastric ulcer, cognitive impairment. Endoscopic method should be preferred in the treatment, on condition of its failure - laparoscopic gastrotomy with bezoar extraction.

The carrot plant (Daucus carota) and its components are traditionally reported for the management of gastric ulcers. This study was performed to evaluate the role of carrot when administered concurrently with a conventional antiulcer treatment, pantoprazole, in alleviating gastric and duodenal ulcers in female experimental animals. The study involved standard animal models to determine the ulcer preventive effect using pylorus ligation, ethanol, and stress induced acute gastric ulcer models and duodenal ulcer models involving cysteamine. Acetic acid-induced chronic gastric ulcer and indomethacin-induced gastric ulcer models were used to evaluate the ulcer healing effect. Carrot fruit (500 mg/kg) and its co-administration with pantoprazole produced significant protection in an ethanol- and stress-induced acute gastric ulcer and cysteamine-induced duodenal ulcer. The healing of the acetic acid-induced chronic gastric ulcer was also augmented with this combination. Both total proteins and mucin contents were significantly increased in indomethacin-induced gastric ulcers. Similarly, in pylorus ligation, the pepsin content of gastric juice, total acidity, and free acidity were reduced. Overall, both ulcer preventive effects and ulcer healing properties of the pantoprazole were significantly enhanced in animals who received the co-administration of carrot fruit (500 mg/kg).

Objective: To explore the effect of targeted nursing based on basic living care on patients with chronic gastric ulcer. Method: Ninety patients with chronic gastric ulcer treated in our hospital from August 2018 to August 2019 were selected and divided into observation group (n = 45) and control group (n = 45) randomly. The control group was given routine care. On the basis of the control group, the observation group was given targeted care based on basic living care. Compare the compliance behavior in two groups. Results: After the intervention, the compliance score of the observation group was higher than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion: The use of targeted care based on basic living care for patients with chronic gastric ulcer can improve their compliance behavior, which is worthy of clinical application.

We present here the first complete genome sequence of Helicobacter pylori strain GD63, isolated from a 72-year-old male Vietnamese patient with a chronic gastric ulcer. The genome consists of a 1.6-Mbp chromosome and an 8.9-kbp plasmid.
