This work describes a multi-stage continuous flow polymerisation process for the synthesis of block copolymers using the RAFT polymerization method. The process retains all the benefits and versatility of the RAFT method and has been adapted for a series of monomer combinations, including acrylates, acrylamides, and vinyl monomers. It resulted in polymers with molecular weights between 13500 and 34100 g mol–1, and dispersities typically between 1.21 and 1.58. Different architectures were prepared (including combinations of hydrophilic and hydrophobic blocks) which are soluble in a range of different solvents including aqueous and organic media.

We demonstrated a facile reaction route, visible-light induced reduction followed by an anion exchange, to prepare one-dimensional (1D) Z-scheme Ag2CO3/Ag/AgBr ternary heterostructured nanorods (HNRs) with tunable chemical compositions at room temperature. The as-obtained 1D Ag2CO3/Ag/AgBr HNRs exhibit significantly enhanced photostability and photocatalytic activity.

RAFT polymerization using only tertiary amines under visible light or sunlight is studied, to determine the kinetics of polymerization, and the system is applied to various monomers giving well-defined homo and block copolymers.

PET-RAFT polymerization was successfully carried out under irradiation of various LED lights at room temperature by using two novel organic agents 4-methoxybenzaldehyde and 2,4,6-tri-(p-methoxyphenyl) pyrylium tetrafluoroborate for the first time.
