The advantageous material properties that arise from combining non-polar olefin monomers with activated vinyl monomers have led to considerable progress in the development of viable copolymerization strategies. However, unfavorable reactivity...

Graft copolymers of natural polysaccharides chitosan (Chs), gummi-arabic (GA) and arabinogalactan (AG) were synthesized with N-vinylpyrrolidone (VPr) (4-vinylpyridine and N-vinylpyrrolidone used as comonomers for chitosan grafting), and then pH-sensitive hydrogels were designing by cross-linked them with N,N-methylene-bis-acrylamide. Effective sorption of doxycycline from aqueous solutions with water-swelling gels has been studied experimentally. The effect of gel dose, initial concentration of doxycycline, pH medium and solution ionic strength of the sorption rate and capacity of the antibiotic was systematically studied. The surface and volume absorption kinetics and isotherms of the process have also been investigated. It was found that the max sorption capacity for swellable gels varies between Chs-graft-VPr/4VPAG/graft-VPrGA/graft-VPr. It has been shown that the sorption mechanism is mainly dominated by physical sorption and to some extent hydrogen bonds and electrostatic interactions.

This paper gives a short overview of homogeneous post-metallocene catalysts based on group 4 metal and vanadium complexes bearing multidentate ligands. It summarizes the catalytic behavior of those catalysts in copolymerization of ethylene with 1-olefins, with styrenic monomers and with a,w‑alkenols. The review is focused on finding correlations between the structure of a complex, its catalyst activity and comonomer incorporation ability, as well as the microstructure of the copolymer chains.

In this study, we coated the surface of glass slides with nanoprotrusion, nanoparticles, and nanofilm structures by one-step plasma deposition of three vinyl monomers. Three functional vinyl monomers with symmetrical polarity sites were used: methyl methacrylate (MMA), trifluoro methylmethacrylate (TFMA), and trimethylsilyl methyl methacrylate (TSMA). The TSMA/MMA (80/20, mol-%) nanoprotrusion-coated surface of slide glass was superhydrophobic, with a 153° contact angle. We also evaluated the transmittance (%) of the slide glass with nanoprotrusions in the infrared (IR) (940 nm), ultraviolet (365 nm) and visible light (380–700 nm) regions. The obtained nanoprotrusion structure surface of slide glass created by plasma deposition transmits more than 90% of visible light.
