This paper proposes an integrated photovoltaic (PV) and proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) system for continuous energy harvesting under various operating conditions for use with a brushless DC motor. The proposed scheme is based on the incremental conductance (IncCond) algorithm combined with the sliding mode technique. Under changing atmospheric conditions, the energy conversion efficiency of a PV array is very low, leading to significant power losses. Consequently, increasing efficiency by means of maximum power point tracking (MPPT) is particularly important. To manage such a hybrid system, control strategies need to be established to achieve the aim of the distributed system. Firstly, a Matlab/Simulink based model of the PV and PEMFC is developed and validated, as well as the incremental conductance sliding (ICS) MPPT technique; then, different MPPT algorithms are employed to control the PV array under nonuniform temperature and insolation conditions, to study these algorithms effectiveness under various operating conditions. Conventional techniques are easy to implement but produce oscillations at MPP. Compared to these techniques, the proposed technique is more efficient; it produces less oscillation at MPP in the steady state and provides more precise tracking.

In order to improve the efficiency of photovoltaic generation as well as the power quality, grid-connected inverters for PV generation research was carried out for photovoltaic maximum power point tracking. Based on some current studies on the incremental conductance method, an advanced incremental conductance control algorithm was proposed, which can track maximum power point rapidly and accurately. The oscillation phenomenon, which exists near the maximum power point, was improved at a great extent, so to the efficiency of photovoltaic cells generation electricity. The inverter control system has an advantage in its high speed and flexibility by applying advanced control algorithm. And the source harmonic current is remarkably reduced. In addition, the power factor is enhanced and the power quality is improved. Finally, according to the principle of inverter control system and based on the analysis on the mathematical model of photovoltaic inverter, a simulation model of that is established based on MATLAB/SIMULINK.

Solar energy is a potential energy source in India. A photovoltaic is a efficient way to cure the energy in a huge amount and keep to gather that kind of energy for future, and the PV must have good efficiency. The maximum power point tracking (MPPT) is a process that tracks one maximum power point from array input, in which the ratio varies between the voltage and current delivered to get the most power it can. Several algorithms have been developed for extracting maximum power. To increase its efficiency many MPPT techniques are used. Incremental conductance is one of the important techniques in this system and because of its higher steady-state accuracy and environmental adaptability it is a widely implemented tracked control strategy. This research was aimed to explore the performance of a maximum power point tracking system that implements the Incremental Conductance (IC) method. The IC algorithm was designed to control the duty cycle of the Buck-Boost converter and to ensure the MPPT work at its maximum efficiency. From the simulation, the IC method shows better performance and also has a lower oscillation.

The extensive usage of solar has extended the opportunity of research to increase the efficiency of PV module. Maximum Power Point Tracking technique plays an important role. In P & O and Incremental conductance the power produced is less. In this paper a Fuzzy based P & O and Fuzzy based Incremental Conductance MPPT techniques are presented to extract the maximum power from the photovoltaic system by considering the dynamic variation in irradiations and temperature also. Here the 100 kW PV array is considered and it is connected to the utility grid via a DC-DC boost converter of 500volts with a 3 phase three level voltage source converter. The result is obtained by the MAT LAB Simulink and the same is appraised with the traditional P & O and Incremental conductance. The PV System produces the maximum power by the application of Fuzzy based incremental Technique compared to conventional methods.
