The purpose of the work was to experimentally evaluate the operation of the domestic ORC micro power plant that uses a commercial biomass boiler fueled with wood pellets. The boiler, with a maximum thermal power output of 45kWt, uses a heating jacket and thermal oil as a working medium. The prototypical domestic ORC micro power plant was equipped with a multistage radial-flow microturbine that can generate electricity (2.5kWe at a rotational speed of 24,000 rpm). The microturbine is a key component of the turbogenerator, which was manufactured in oilfree technology. The turbogenerator’s high-speed bearings are lubricated with the low-boiling medium’s vapour. The HFE7100 fluid was used as a working medium in the ORC installation. The paper discusses the thermodynamic conditions to be met for effective operation of the boiler and the results of experimental research. The operating characteristics of the ORC installation and the biomass boiler were presented. Problems that occurred while testing the micro-cogeneration power plant with the boiler and their impact on the electric and thermal efficiency of the cycle were discussed.

The study is made and compared with actual situation of the thermal power plant, for the failure in belt of conveyor due to the deviation under load from its axis. Analyze technical characteristics causing the deviation in the belt and the operating characteristics of relevant machinery causing deviation. Based on the research, failure in belt due to deviation during use, analysis the cause of failure, proposed some method to reduce it are summed up.

Thermal power plant (TPP) - Bitola is the largest electricity producer in the Republic of Macedonia with installed capacity of 691 MW. It is a lignite fired power plant, in operation since 1982. Most of the installed equipment is of Russian origin. Power plant's cold end comprised of a condenser, pump station and cooling tower is depicted in the article. Possible way to raise the efficiency of the cold end by changing the operating characteristics of the pumps is presented in the article. Diagramic and tabular presentation of the working characteristics of the pumps (two pumps working in paralel for one block) with the pipeline, as well as engaged power for their operation are also presented in this article.

Optimizing the operation of thermal power plant auxiliaries can effectively reduce the power consumption rate and improve production efficiency. This paper establishes the optimal operation model for variable-speed pumps and fans, which are the main auxiliaries in thermal power plant. The model is based on the operating characteristics of pumps and fans and considers parallel and series operation. The object is to minimize the power of auxiliaries; the constraints contain the requirements of system flow or head, speed limits, flow limits, power limits and pipeline performance. Because of the complexity of the model, the pumps and fans operating performance curves are transferred to piece-wise linear curves at first, then a new 0-1 variable is introduces to characterize the choice of a different Q-P curve at a different speed. The model has been converted to mixed integer linear programming problem and uses commercial modeling tools to solve. The case is to verify the effectiveness of this method.

The Oberhausen gas turbine plant now under construction is designed as a fossil-fired heating power station to produce a net electrical output at terminals of 50 MW. Helium as a working medium is employed for the first time in a closed-cycle industrial power plant system. A report is given on the layout of the circuit parameters, on the physical size of the turbomachines and heat exchangers as well as on the design of the gas-fired helium heater. Moreover, the arrangement of circuit components is discussed. The Oberhausen plant was projected under the aspect of a commercial thermal power station. Besides, the plant is of considerable importance concerning the German program for developing high-temperature reactors with helium turbines (HHT). Its significance is, on the one hand, based on the fact that the turbomachines and heat exchangers are constructed in many details to meet the requirements which occur in nuclear helium turbines of high output. Some of these components closely resemble dimensions and stresses as in a HHT-power plant. On the other hand the operational behavior of component parts will be tested under real conditions of a commercial power plant.

To synthesize the surface of the metal bodies, a thermal spray coating is used. There is a great need for this new coating technology in today's progressive world where modification of the substrate material is carried out a great deal. Thermal spray covering, electroplating, powder metallurgy and other metallurgical processes are used very quickly in the field of surface modification. We have presented the summary of all different types of thermal spray coating in this review paper and the advantages of high-speed oxy fuel coating. There is a literature review and an experiment was conducted on behalf of that to demonstrate the effect of coating on mild steel plate. Through Robot, we present a proposed optimization of the spraying process in a thermal power plant. We will explore the thermal spraying and oxidation effect on deposited aluminium and bronze in this research work. We present a detailed assessment of the robot kinematics and optimize the generation of the robot trajectory with a focus on the constant relative scanning speed. The results show that the motion behavior of each axis of robot permits to identify the motion problems in the trajectory. This approach enables the generation of robot trajectories in a limited working envelope to be optimised.

In order to reduce the pressure drop increase caused by self-rotating plastic twisted-strips in heat transfer tubes of vacuum condensers in thermal power plant, the twisted strips structure is optimized. There are holes distributed in twisted strip uniformly. The holes diameter and interval are optimized through experimental research. The results show that when holes diameter is less than 6mm, holes can reduce the pressure drop increase at low flow velocity while the pressure drop with holes is greater than that without holes at high flow velocity. The holes diameter is 4~5mm when the pressure drop is the lowest. The pressure drop with holes is always larger than that without holes when holes diameter is more than 6mm. The pressure drop will increase as holes interval decreases at high flow velocity, while it will reduce at low flow velocity.

Transverse cracking occurred in the blade body of the last stage of the low pressure rotor of a 200MW unit in a thermal power plant. The causes of blade cracking were analyzed by means of macro morphology, SEM, microstructure, mechanical properties, chemical composition and energy spectrum analysis. The results show that the corrosive Cl- accumulates on leaves, and then combined action of tensile stress is formed with the static load and dynamic load during the blade operation, and the stress corrosion microcracks had been conceived in the Cl- corrosion region. Under the long period cyclic excitation stress of the blade during the rotor rotation at high speed, the crack source extends in fatigue mode, finally resulting in cracking.
