This article discusses the issues of ensuring the power quality. An analysis of the higher harmonics arising from the operation of photovoltaic power stations is made. The results of experimental research are presented. Based on the measurement and calculation data, time diagrams of changes in the parameters of the electrical system mode for the studied periods of time were constructed.

Problems of power quality and electric energy accounting often occur in networks with large pervasion of photovoltaic (PV) elements on rooftops of household and office buildings. In smart grids, including PV arrays electricity, which is sold back to the distribution network, requires approval of its parameters and quality control. Distributed power inverters generate higher harmonics which affect relay protection, automation systems, smart meters and power system’s reliability. In this article the influence of photovoltaic elements on the accuracy of electric energy metering and power quality questions are analysed.

Renewable energy sources are being actively penetrated in the global energy sector, with the main growth being achieved by new photovoltaic power stations. At the same time, the influence of photovoltaic power stations on the operation of power systems is known. This is primarily due to the inconstancy of the weather, which leads to a decrease in the output of each specific photovoltaic panel and power station as a whole. To study the effect of partial shading of photovoltaic panels on the parameters of its operation, various models of the current-voltage characteristics of photovoltaic cells are used in the world, while detailed two-diode models show the best results. The use of detailed models allows to get complete information about the processes in a variety of photovoltaic panels of a power station, as well as other elements of it, such as a voltage converter. This makes it possible to assess the impact of these processes on the external power system. However, for detailed modelling of large photovoltaic power stations as part of power systems, it is necessary to use powerful software and hardware systems. Such systems include the Hybrid real-time power system simulator. This simulator is a multiprocessor installation that provides a solution to the aggregate model of the power system through the use of three approaches to modelling: digital, analogue and physical. The article presents the results of experimental studies of software and hardware tools for modelling a photovoltaic power station, developed on the basis of a hybrid approach to modelling electric power systems.

Smart Grid is one of the hot research directions of power system. How to interconnect the new energy power generation with power system safely and reliably is a major challenge in the development of Smart Grid. New energy power generation interconnection standards are the technology base, which will push the development of smart grid. This paper compares the photovoltaic power generation interconnection standards of home and abroad mainly. It points out the inadequacy of existing standards and that the photovoltaic power generation interconnection standards should focus on power quality, protection and control. This paper can be provided as a reference to improve existing standards and establish interconnection standards of other form new energy generation.

Now a day the power demand has a major problem for developing countries due to the growth of population, industries, IT companies and other needs. In this present situation the fossil fuel-based power generation alone does not support the consumer needs, poor power quality due to nonlinear function and very harmful for environment. The main objective of this paper is improving the power quality of grid connected photovoltaic power system through a new cascade H-bridge multilevel inverter. The proposed research work has been modelled and controlled by ANFIS intelligence in MATLAB simulation environment. The simulation results are analysed under various operating conditions for improve the performance of proposed system. Finally, the proposed system THD value of simulation results is compared with IEEE 1547 standard for prove the effectiveness of proposed research work.
