Now a day the power demand has a major problem for developing countries due to the growth of population, industries, IT companies and other needs. In this present situation the fossil fuel-based power generation alone does not support the consumer needs, poor power quality due to nonlinear function and very harmful for environment. The main objective of this paper is improving the power quality of grid connected photovoltaic power system through a new cascade H-bridge multilevel inverter. The proposed research work has been modelled and controlled by ANFIS intelligence in MATLAB simulation environment. The simulation results are analysed under various operating conditions for improve the performance of proposed system. Finally, the proposed system THD value of simulation results is compared with IEEE 1547 standard for prove the effectiveness of proposed research work.

The use of different control techniques has become very popular for controlling the performance of grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) systems. Although the proportional-integral (PI) control technique is very popular, there are some difficulties such as less stability, slow dynamic response, low reference tracking capability, and lower output power quality in solar PV applications. In this paper, a robust, fast, and dynamic proportional-integral resonance controller with a harmonic and lead compensator (PIR + HC + LC) is proposed to control the current of a 15-level neutral-point-clamped (NPC) multilevel inverter. The proposed controlled is basically a proportional-integral resonance (PIR) controller with the feedback of a harmonic compensator and a lead compensator. The performance of the proposed controller is analyzed in a MATLAB/Simulink environment. The simulation result represents admirable performance in terms of stability, sudden load change response, fault handling capability, reference tracking capability, and total harmonic distortion (THD) than those of the existing controllers. The responses of the inverter and grid outlets under different conditions are also analyzed. The harmonic compensator decreases the lower order harmonics of grid voltage and current, and the lead compensator provides the phase lead. It is expected that the proposed controller is a dynamic aspirant in the grid-connected PV system.

The increased use of electricity-dependent devices has posed many concerns to the power industry. The devices like electric motors, printers, generators, transformers, computers, etc are widely used in today’s world. The electronic devices increase the non-linear load to the power system which leads to the power quality (PQ) issues by which the electrical devices may get affected with fluctuation causing equipment failure, power system failure, etc. In order to resolve the PQ related issues and harmonics mitigation occurred due to nonlinear load power filters were introduced in decades ago. This paper deals with the review of existing researches that uses power filters and other methods for power quality improvement. The paper also gives gaps and the current state of the art in the recent researches which have futuristic scope in the research domain.
