The acoustic signal of low-altitude aircraft shows regular distribution in frequency and has obvious harmonic crest of both fundamental frequency and double frequency. Therefore, this paper presents a low complexity algorithm of acoustic location based on feature sub-band extraction for low-altitude aircraft. The algorithm firstly searches the eigenfrequency points which occupy the main energy in the sound signal. Then the cost function is constructed based on the MUSIC method by the sub-band corresponding to the eigenfrequency point. Finally, the amplitude is weighted by the maximum ratio combination principle to obtain the spectral function of array space, by which DOA estimation is realized for the spatial spectrum. Simulation results show that the algorithm is less complex than traditional wide-band DOA algorithm, and its main lobe is easier to recognize and has better spatial resolution.

In order to improve the angle measurement performance of a coprime linear array, this paper proposes a novel direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation algorithm for a coprime linear array based on the multiple invariance estimation of signal parameters via rotational invariance techniques (MI-ESPRIT) and a lookup table method. The proposed algorithm does not require a spatial spectrum search and uses a lookup table to solve ambiguity, which reduces the computational complexity. To fully use the subarray elements, the DOA estimation precision is higher compared with existing algorithms. Moreover, the algorithm avoids the matching error when multiple signals exist by using the relationship between the signal subspace of two subarrays. Simulation results verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

The Multi-View extension of High Efficiency Video Coding (MV-HEVC) has improved the coding efficiency of multi-view videos, but this comes at the cost of the extra coding complexity of the MV-HEVC encoder. This coding complexity can be reduced by efficiently reducing time-consuming encoding operations. In this work, we propose two methods to reduce the encoder complexity. The first one is Early Coding unit Splitting (ECS), and the second is the Efficient Reference Picture Selection (ERPS) method. In the ECS method, the decision of Coding Unit (CU) splitting for dependent views is made on the CU splitting information obtained from the base view, while the ERPS method for dependent views is based on selecting reference pictures on the basis of the temporal location of the picture being encoded. Simulation results reveal that our proposed methods approximately reduce the encoding time by 58% when compared with HTM (16.2), the reference encoder for MV-HEVC.

A low-complexity algorithm is presented to dramatically reduce the complexity of the multiple signal classification (MUSIC) algorithm for direction of arrival (DOA) estimation, in which both tasks of eigenvalue decomposition (EVD) and spectral search are implemented with efficient real-valued computations, leading to about 75% complexity reduction as compared to the standard MUSIC. Furthermore, the proposed technique has no dependence on array configurations and is hence suitable for arbitrary array geometries, which shows a significant implementation advantage over most state-of-the-art unitary estimators including unitary MUSIC (U-MUSIC). Numerical simulations over a wide range of scenarios are conducted to show the performance of the new technique, which demonstrates that with a significantly reduced computational complexity, the new approach is able to provide a close accuracy to the standard MUSIC.

This paper proposes a super-resolution-based direction-of-arrivals (DOA) estimation with wide array distance and extrapolation for vital frequency-modulated continuous-wave (FMCW) radar. Most super-resolution algorithms employ the distance between adjacent arrays of half a wavelength, i.e., λ/2. Meanwhile, in the case of narrow field of view of FMCW radar, the resolution of the angle is maintained by increasing the spacing between the arrays even if the number of arrays decreases. In order to employ these characteristics of array spacing and resolution, the proposed algorithm confirms whether or not to use the case where the distance between the adjacent arrays is greater than λ/2. In the case of an array distance >λ/2, a super-resolution algorithm is performed to obtain the enhanced DOA resolution. Moreover, the proposed algorithm virtually generates data between antennae by using extrapolation in order to further improve the performance of the resolution. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm achieves the results of root-mean-square error similar to conventional super-resolution algorithms while maintaining low complexity. In order to further verify the performance of the proposed estimation algorithm, we demonstrate its employment in practice: experiments in a chamber room and an indoor room were conducted.

In this paper, based on the research of the Continuous Phase Modulation (CPM) receiver, we conclude that the coherent demodulation can achieve better frequency efficiency than the non-coherent demodulation, at the cost of higher design complexity. Hence, this paper proposes a novel differential soft decision scheme to reduce the complexity of the CPM receiver. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme can reduce the complexity of the CPM receiver significantly, while causes a slight performance loss

Direction of arrival (DOA) estimation is of great interest due to its wide applications in sonar, radar and many other areas. However, the near-field interference is always presented in the received data, which may result in degradation of DOA estimation. An approach which can suppress the near-field interference and preserve the far-field signal desired by using a spatial matrix filter is proposed in this paper and some typical DOA estimation algorithms are adjusted to match the filtered data. Simulation results show that the approach can improve capability of DOA estimation under near-field inference efficiently.
