The alkali–silica reaction (ASR) causes internal corrosion of concrete. The aim of this work is to verify the possibility of ultrasonic method in detection of concrete internal structure changes, which were initiated by the alkali-silica reaction. For this purpose, we prepared samples that contained aggregates of two types, namely one with 98% of SiO2 content and one with a greywacke. The dependence of ultrasonic impulse propagation velocity on the changes in the structure of mortars containing aggregates from these rocks was researched. The results of this work are not unambiguous yet and therefore it is necessary to carry out more extensive investigation with using of other methods that will allow to examine changes in the internal structure of composites more detailed.

Using the LAMP model for nuclear quark structure, we calculate the binding energy and quark structure of a B meson merging with a D meson. Our variational calculation shows that a molecular, deuteron-like state structure changes rather abruptly, as the separation between the two mesons decreases, and at a separation of about 0.14 fm, the hadronic system transforms into a four-quark bound state, although one maintaining an internal structure rather than that of a four-quark "bag." Unlike the deuteron, pion exchange does not provide any contribution to the ≈ 150 MeV binding.

AbstractThe paper presents a method of analysis of bone remodelling in the vicinity of implants. The authors aimed at building a model and numerical procedures which may be used as a tool in the prosthesis design process. The model proposed by the authors is based on the theory of adaptive elasticity and the lazy zone concept. It takes into consideration not only changes of the internal structure of the tissue (described by apparent density) but also surface remodelling and changes caused by the effects revealing some features of “creep”. Finite element analysis of a lumbar spinal segment with an artificial intervertebral disc was performed by means of the Ansys system with custom APDL code. The algorithms were in two variants: the so-called siteindependent and site-specific. Resultant density distribution and modified shape of the vertebra are compared for both of them. It is shown that this two approaches predict the bone remodelling in different ways. A comparison with available clinical outcomes is also presented and similarities to the numerical results are pointed out.

The paper gives the overview of the policy of urban planning in CEE and Southeast Europe during the socialist period. That policy was based on centralistic system which caused specific type of internal structure of the cities. Besides that, the paper compares the changes in the urban planning that took place during the 1990s as the results of global and integrational processes, market rules and privatization, decentralization deindustrialization, commercialization, social segregation etc. These changes are already obvious in urban areas. At the end of the last century unstable policy and economic crisis in Serbia slowed down these processes both the changes in the functional-spatial structure of the cities and especially the changes related to the institutional policy in urban planning.
