After Globalisation and Financialisation: Logics of Bargaining in the German Automotive Industry

The article is focused on actual and future importance of collective bargaining at plant and company level in the German automotive industry. The impacts of restructuring of business processes, which are connected with trends towards globalisation and financialisation, are described and analysed. Empirical evidence is based on case studies in German based automobile companies. It is argued, that globalisation and financialisation are changing the balance of power within enterprises, the issues over which bargaining is taking place and the significance of certain arenas for negotiation. The paper concludes that collective bargaining still matter, and the locally embedded collective skills and cooperation play an important role in strategic choices of corporate management towards restructuring and globalisation and thereby give room to maneuver for employees' representation.

Purpose: The objective is to understand how the manager's behavior and action in relation to risk influence and shape the internationalization processes.Methodology/Approach: A meta-synthesis study of qualitative case studies was carried out jointly involving the manager's influence and the action in relation to risk.Originality/Value: The literature recognizes that the different relationships established with risk can cause managers to overestimate or underestimate situations. However, there is little empirical evidence of how the manager's behavior in these situations changes his strategic choices and background, and a study emphasizing the individual level is significant.Findings: It can be said that the manager and his background influence the involvement and organizational development throughout the internationalization process. It is still possible to highlight that there is a predecessor to risk action, which is the perception of risks. In addition, it appears that the cognitive characteristics of these managers must also be considered when analyzing their perception of risks.Theoretical/Methodological contributions: As a contribution to the research, it is suggested that the manager's action in relation to risk is complemented by his/her perception of risk. It is believed that with this perspective of risk perception, research in the area can expand the theoretical scope of explanation, where this perception presents itself as a predecessor and a frame for future decisions and actions.

Purpose This paper is a continuing exploration into facilities management (FM) strategy through the arrangement of its decision choices. The purpose of this paper is to identify the existence of FM operation strategy and to add empirical evidence to this subject to the field of FM and property management. Its main objectives are to gain insights into the arrangement of the FM strategic choices in operation and its relationship with business strategy. Design/methodology/approach The study investigated the configurations of operational approaches and activities that should reflect strategic decisions. The investigation was undertaken through a study of four reputed shopping malls located in Bangkok. The relevant data were collected through semi-structured interviews with the key FM persons of each case study, plus archival document searches, and observations of operational processes. Subsequently, the data were examined in a cross-case analysis to identify the key patterns of relationships between the FM operational arrangements and the business strategy of the mall. Findings This study found that the functional scheme of FM adopted in operations was deliberately related to the needs of business strategy and the operations of the given shopping mall. A range of strategic choices for FM operations was also found. Certain choices are shared among the case studies, while their arrangements varied according to the particular business strategy and context. Research limitations/implications The number of case studies was rather limited, while the results were predominantly involved with a single type of facility. Originality/value The study identified the pattern of strategic choices entailed in the FM operations in shopping malls. The findings add to the understanding on FM strategy by widening the perspectives about the strategic choices of FM operations and how they are connected with the business strategy and operation model of retail estate. It adds empirical evidence and case studies regarding FM operations and its strategic features.

Цифровые технологии существенно влияют на мировой рынок, внося коррективы в расстановку сил на нем. Используемые ранее подходы к управлению бизнес-процессами становятся не актуальными в современных условиях. Без цифровизации наукоемкие производства будут не способны выдержать конкурентную борьбу, и вынуждены будут уйти с рынка. В то же время современные условия хозяйствования диктуют необходимость постоянного совершенствования бизнес-процессов наукоемких предприятий, их оптимизации. Данные принципы являются основой концепции бережливое производство, реализация которых становится более эффективной при условии использования цифровых технологий. В статье рассмотрены вопросы интеграции концепции бережливое производство и цифровых технологий на наукоемких предприятиях. Показан пример успешной реализации принципов данной концепции с использованием цифровых подходов к оптимизации бизнес-процессов наукоемкого производства. В современных условиях важнейшим активом любого предприятия, в том числе и наукоемкого производства, являются данные. Реализация принципов бережливого производства требует обработки значительного объема информации. Цифровые технологии позволяют анализировать информационные потоки в режиме реального времени, моделировать бизнес-процессы и тем самым, способствуют более качественному и оперативному принятию решений по оптимизации бизнес-процессов наукоемких производств. Только объединив принципы концепции бережливое производство и возможности, которые дает цифровизация, наукоемкие предприятия смогут не просто удержать свои конкурентные позиции на рынке, но и перейти на более качественный уровень своего развития. Previously used approaches to business process management are no longer relevant in modern conditions. Without digitalization, high-tech industries will not be able to withstand competition and will be forced to leave the market. At the same time, modern business conditions dictate the need to constantly improve the business processes of high-tech enterprises and optimize them. These principles are the basis of the concept of lean manufacturing, the implementation of which becomes more effective when using digital technologies. The article deals with the integration of the concept of lean manufacturing and digital technologies in high-tech enterprises. An example of successful implementation of the principles of this concept using digital approaches to optimizing business processes in high-tech production is shown.
