For any image identification based applications, edge detection is the primary step. The intention of the edge detection in image processing is to minimize the information that is not required in the analysis of identification of an image. In the process of reduction of insignificant data in the image, it may lead to some loss in information which in turn raise some problems like missing of boundaries with low contrast, false edge detection and some other noise affected problems. In order to reduce the effects due to noise, a modified version of popular edge detection algorithm “Canny edge detection algorithm” is proposed. Artix 7 FPGA board set up is used to implement, by using Xilinx platform the image that is obtained as output is displayed on monitor which is connected with FPGA board using connector port DVI. MATLAB Simulink is used for algorithm simulation and then it is executed on FPGA board using Xilinx platform. The results provide good motivation to use in different edge detection applications.

Early warning of floods is an essential part of disaster management. Various automatic detectors have been developed in flood mitigation, including cameras. But reliability and accuracy have not been improved. Besides, the use of monitoring devices has been employed to monitor water levels in various water building facilities. The early warning flood detector was carried out with a sensor camera using an orange ball that floats near the water level gauge in a bounding box. This approach uses the integration of computer vision and image processing, namely digital image processing techniques, with Sobel Canny edge detection (SCED) algorithms to detect quickly and accurately water levels in real-time. After the water level is measured, a flood detection process is carried out based on the specified water level. According to the results of experiments in the laboratory, it has been shown that the proposed approach can detect objects accurately and fast in real-time. Besides, from the water level detection experiment, good results were obtained. Therefore, the object detection system and water level can be used as an efficient and accurate early detection system for flood disasters.

Various origami works are distributed as origami books in which a succession of collapsing operations with basic outlines is portrayed. In any case, the origami book reader often will give up the instruction of the book middle, because it is too difficult to understand a way to fold in accordance with the diagrams. This paper proposes an approach to find the next step how to do the folding operation, especially for origami beginners. First, a method of detecting the folding operation based on camera images is been detected by canny edge detection. Then, in order to get the next operation camera image is been compare with the database images with the help of Bag of a visual word and Speed up robust features(SURF) detector to detect the key points by finding out the nearest neighboring distance ration (NNDR) measures to find out the similarities.

Dalam menentukan luas objek persegi, persegi panjang, dan lingkaran diperlukanlah sebuah penggaris untuk mendapatkan nilai luasannya, agar lebih mudah dan praktis dapat dibantu dengan sebuah web camera dengan cara mengcapture gambar sampel objek yang ingin diketahui luasnya. Image Prosessing adalah suatu proses yang digunakan untuk mengolah citra atau gambar untuk mendapatkan citra yang lebih bagus mengunakan perangkat sistem komputer. Untuk mendapatkan perolehan panjang (X,Y) dari gambar dapat diukur setelah melewati beberapa tahapan di image prosessing yaitu dengan konversi citra dari RGB, HSV dan deteksi tepi canny, lalu terdapatlah nilai luasan dari hasil pengukuran objek. Metode Canny sendiri merupakan deteksi tepi paling baik ketika digunakan untuk mendeteksi tepi objek,  sehingga hasil deteksi tepi tersebut dapat diambil informasi yang berguna dari citra tersebut. Dengan pengukuran luas secara manual dan secara otomatis terdapat presentase error kurang lebih 5%, hasil luas objek tersebut sudah cukup akurat namun terdapat masalah jika dalam pembuatan objek kurang presisi, peletakan objek yang miring/kurang tegap dan pencahayaan yang kurang mengakibatkan kurangnya tingkat akurasi.In determining the area of a square, rectangle, and circle object a ruler is needed to get the area value, so that it can be easier and more practical to be assisted by a web camera by capturing the image of the object sample that you want to know the area. Image Prosessing is a process used to process images or images to get better images using computer system devices. To get the long gain (X, Y) from the image can be measured after passing through several stages in image processing that is by image conversion from RGB, HSV and canny edge detection, then there is an area value from the object measurement results. The Canny method itself is the best edge detection when used to detect the edge of an object, so that the useful information of the edge detection can be retrieved from the image. With the area measurement manually and automatically there is a percentage error of approximately 5%, the object's width results are quite accurate but there is a problem if the object is less precise in making objects, sloping / less robust object laying and less lighting result in a lack of accuracy.

Thresholding is perhaps one of the most basic techniques in image processing. The Insight Toolkit (ITK) includes several threshold filters ranging from simple ones to Otsu based thresholding. Deep into the implementation of the Canny edge detection filter, ITK includes an implementation of hysteresis thresholding, but unfortunately this method can not be used as a generic filter. This paper presents an implementation of the hysteresis thresholding filter that can be used as a standalone ITK filter.

Edge detection is an important field in image processing. Edge detection is in the forefront of image processing for object detection, it is crucial to have a good understanding of edge detection techniques. Various image edge detection techniques are introduced. These techniques are compared by using MATLAB7.0. The qualities of these techniques are elaborated. The results show that Canny edge detection techniques is better than others.

Fractal dimension (FD) is a critical parameter in the characterization of a rock fracture network system. This parameter represents the distribution pattern of fractures in rock media. Moreover, it can be used for the modeling of fracture networks when the spatial distribution of fractures is described by the distribution of power law. The main objective of this research is to propose an automatic method to determine the rock mass FD in MATLAB using digital image processing techniques. This method not only accelerates analysis and reduces human error, but also eliminates the access limitation to a rock face. In the proposed method, the intensity of image brightness is corrected using the histogram equalization process and applying smoothing filters to the image followed by revealing the edges using the Canny edge detection algorithm. In the next step, FD is calculated in the program using the box-counting method, which is applied randomly to the pixels detected as fractures. This algorithm was implemented in different geological images to calculate their FDs. The FD of the images was determined using a simple Canny edge detection algorithm, a manual calculation method, and an indirect approach based on spectral decay rate. The results showed that the proposed method is a reliable and fast approach for calculating FD in fractured geological media.

Abstract. The determination of the cattle price is generally agreed through bargaining, it is not based on the weight of the cows being sold. Most people mainly use rough calculation. There are formulas to calculate the weight but they require perimeter information of chest size and body length. It is necessary to measure the cow manually, but in reality it is not easy to do because the cow is difficult to control. Therefore, it requires a tool that can help measure easily. This article represents the early stages of research to determine the weight of cows from the cow image acquisition. It focuses on segmentation and image processing. The image acquisition results are processed using five scenarios. The results of the evaluation show that scenario 3 (Median Blur and Canny) has the best result with the value of 230,051 MSE and 24,524 dB PSNR.Keywords: Edge Detection, Canny, Segmentation, Cow, Image Processing Abstrak. Penentuan harga sapi umumnya disepakati melalui tawar menawar bukan didasarkan pada bobot sapi yang dijual. Kebanyakan menggunakan perhitungan secara kasar maupun secara kira-kira. Terdapat rumus untuk menghitung bobot sapi, rumus yang ada memerlukan informasi terkait lingkar dada dan panjang badan. Untuk mendapatkan nilai lingkar dada dan panjang badan perlu dilakukan pengukuran secara manual, namun di lapangan hal tersebut tidak mudah dilakukan karena sapi sulit dikondisikan. Oleh karena itu diperlukan alat yang dapat mengukur secara mudah. Tulisan ini merupakan tahap awal dari penelitian untuk menentukan bobot sapi dari hasil akuisisi citra sapi. Oleh sebab itu pada tahap awal ini difokuskan pada segmentasi serta pengolahan citra sapi untuk menentukan deteksi tepi terbaik yang nantinya digunakan pada penelitian selanjutnya. Citra sapi hasil akuisisi diproses menggunakan lima buah skenario deteksi tepi. Hasil evaluasi menujukkan bahwa Skenario 3 (Median Blur dan Canny) memiliki hasil yang terbaik dengan nilai MSE sebesar 230.051 dan PSNR sebesar 24.524 dB.Kata Kunci: Deteksi Tepi, Canny, Segmentasi, Sapi, Pengolahan Citra Digital.
