The article deals with the love of Zygmunt Krasiński to Delfina Potocka. The point of departure is the poet's definition of love as looking and reads Krasiński's relationship with his beloved in the context of two phenomena that fascinated him at the time: daguerreotype and magnetism. The invention of the daguerreotype in which the history of photography and spiritism comes together becomes a pretext for the formulation of a new concept of love and the loving subject. In the era of painting the woman was treated as a passive object of the male gaze; photography reverses this scheme of power. Love ceases to be a static relationship of the subject in love and the passive object – the beloved. The philosophy of developing photographs (and invoking phantoms) allows Krasiński - the writing subject to become like a light-sensitive material that reveals the image of the beloved.

The reproduction of NDV in chick-embryo-fibroblast cultures was studied with 6-Azauridine, 8-Azaguanine, Parafluorophenylalanine (FPA) and Puromycine as inhibitors. The results suggest that no virus initiated FPA-sensitive material is needed for the uncoating of the infecting particles, and that viral parental RNA is able to induce the formation of protein (s) needed for viral RNA-synthesis (“RNA-protein“) as well as the production of viral structural antigen (s). Further antigenic material appears after the beginning of new viral RNA-synthesis. The “RNA-protein (s)“become (s) detectable between 2 and 3 hours after infection and is (are) stable in its function over several hours. According to the formation of viral antigenic material parental viral RNA can act as a messenger longer than 9 hours. The capacity for the production of hemagglutinating units appears after the viral antigen producing capacity, when viral RNA can already be synthesized. This capacity is separated from that to produce plaque forming particles by a FPA-sensitive phase. The character of the corresponding FPA-sensititve material is unknown.

In this paper, the effect of strain rate has been considered in the simulation of forming process with a simple form combined into the material law. Quite a few researchers have proposed various hardening laws and strain rate functions to describe the material tensile curve. In this study, the strain rate model Cowper-Symonds is used with anisotropic elasto-plastic material law in the simulation process. The strain path evolution of certain elements, when the strain rate is considered and not, is compared. Two sheet materials, Cold-reduced Carbon Steel (SPCC) JIS G3141 and Aluminum alloy 6112 are used in this study. Two yield criteria, Hill 48 and Hill 90, are applied respectively to improve the accuracy of simulation result. They show different performance when strain rate effect is considered. Strain path of the elements in the fracture risk area of SPCC (JIS G3141) varies much when the strain rate material law is used. There is only little difference of the strain distribution of Al 6112 when the strain rate effect is included and excluded in the material law. The simulation results of material SPCC under two conditions indicate that the strain rate should be considered if the material is the rate-sensitive material, which provides more accurate simulation results.

According to hot compressive test date, relationship between flow stress, temperature, strain rate and strain is studied. Material constant value is researched through single regression, such as activation energy Q, stress level parameters and structure factor A. The results show dynamic recovery is principal in the softening process of .titanium and Ti-6Al-4V-Rare Earth Titanium is positive strain rate sensitive material.

There is a need for low-cost immunoassays that measure the presence and concentration of multiple harmful agents in one device. Currently, comparable immunoassays employ a one-analyte-per-test format that is time consuming and not cost effective for the requirement of detecting multiple analytes in a single sample. For instance, if a spectrum of harmful agents, including E. coli O157, cholera toxin, and Salmonella typhimurium, should be simultaneously monitored in foods and drinking water, then a one-analyte-per-test would be inefficient. This work demonstrates a platform capable of simultaneous detection of multiple analytes in a single, low-cost, microvalve array-enabled multiplexed immunoassay. This multiplexed immunoassay platform is demonstrated in a prototype COC (cyclic olefin copolymer) device with a 2×3 array in which 6 analytes can be detected simultaneously. In order to contain and regulate the flow of reagents in the multichannel device, an array of microfluidic valves actuated by a thermally expandable material and microfabricated resistors have been developed to direct the flow to the necessary assay sites. The microvalve-based immunoassay is shown to be reliable, easy to operate, and compatible with large-scale integration. The all-plastic microvalves use paraffin wax as the thermally sensitive material which drastically reduces power consumption by latching upon closing so that pulsed power is required only to close and latch the microvalve until it is necessary to re-open the valve. The multiplexed detection scheme has been demonstrated by using three proteins, C reactive protein (CRP) and transferrin, both of which are biomarkers associated with traumatic brain injury (TBI) as well as bovine serum albumin (BSA) as the negative control. Since there are no external bulky pneumatic accessories required to operate/latch the microvalves in the device, this compact, thermally actuated and latching microvalve-enabled multiplexed immunoassay has the potential to realize a portable, low power, battery operated microfluidic device for biological assays.

Reactions of 2,3-dihydro-1,3-diboroles 6a–h with (C3H5)2Νi lead to µ,η5-2,3-dihydro-1,3-diborolylnickel triple-decker complexes 7a –h. By slow heating these oily, diamagnetic complexes in a rotating flask polycondensation with formation of black 8a–h as well as of bis(allyl)nickel and hexadiene occurs. The latter can be removed under reduced pressure. The constitution of the polymeric material follows from EXAFS studies. The Ni–Ni distance is 3,35 A, the ring atom Ni bonds are in the range of 2,13 to 2,15 A. Thermogravimetric measurements between 200 and 400°C show a mass loss of 20-40%, depending of the alkyl substituents of the heterocycle. In dynamic difference calorimetry an endothermic process occurs near 420°C. The powder conductivity of the amorphous, air-sensitive material is in the range of 10-2 S • cm-1. Doping with iodine or oxygen causes a decrease in the conductivity of these semi-conductors.
