Abstract Under the background of “carbon neutralization”, the power transmission quality of power grid transmission lines becomes more and more important. This paper discusses the mechanical properties of aluminum conductor steel reinforced(ACSR), the main medium of electric energy transmission. This test simulates the real environment, takes the stress-strain curve and elastic modulus as the starting point, divides the test process into four stages, and compares the mechanical properties of the same conductor under different loads in detail. On this basis, the data difference and performance comparison of three different sections of ACSR are obtained. Finally, the commonness and difference of different cross-section conductors are analyzed, and the precautions in the test process are given. The conclusion of this paper can promote the quality improvement of power transmission conductors.

This paper addresses the thermal-mechanical properties and performance characteristics of full tension splice connectors under high temperature operation, in particular those used in overhead transmission and distribution lines. Due to the increase in power demand existing overhead power transmission lines often need to operate at temperatures higher than those originally considered for their design. This has led to the accelerated aging and degradation of splice connectors. The compressive residual stresses induced by the crimping process within the splice connector provide the clamping forces to secure the conductor and therefore, the determination of the state of compressive residual stresses in splice connectors is a necessary requirement to provide an accurate estimate of their service lifetime. This paper presents a protocol for integrating analytical and experimental approaches to evaluate the integrity of a full tension single-stage splice connector assembly.

In the process of the smart grids formation a special attention is started to be paid to the issues of power engineering facilities safe functioning and reduction in their negative impact on personnel and environment. One of the important factors of such an impact is the generation of significant levels of strength of electromagnetic fields (EMF) by high-voltage overhead power transmission lines (OPL). In the context of the electric power industry digitalization, in order to improve the electromagnetic safety of service personnel, development of methods and means for digital modeling of EMF created by power lines of various designs is required, including traction networks of electrified railways. Computer models providing an adequate determination of the OPL EMF can be implemented on the basis of methods and tools designed for determining the parameters of the modes of electric energy systems in phase coordinates, developed at the Irkutsk State University for Railroads Communications. As an example of using these methods, the solution to the problem of constructing pictures of the distribution of EMF in the space surrounding the intersection of a flexible symmetrical conductor and a 25 kV traction network is given.

Sustainable operation of the power grid complex is impossible without reliable and high-quality operation of 10/0.4 kV electrical distribution networks, which are the final link in the system for providing consumers with electric energy and are in direct interaction with a specific consumer. The study of statistical information on the composition of distribution networks makes it possible to draw conclusions about electrical network state, to implement recommendations for their development and to compare distribution electrical networks in different regions. This information is especially relevant for analyzing the reliability of power supply to consumers connected to the considered electrical distribution networks. Such indicators of network structure as the length of electric transmission lines of different voltages and power transmission schemes are studied. It also analyzes the number of damages in networks, the causes of these damages, data on the time of planned and emergency outages. This paper considers the structure of 10/0.4 kV electrical distribution networks located on the territory of one of the districts of the Kaluga region. The sample for distribution networks was: 1190 overhead transmission lines and 536 transformer substations. Consumers in the district are 21671 subscribers of individuals and 1986 subscribers of legal entities, that is, a total of 23657 metering points. On the lines of 0.4 kV and 10 kV, the percentage of their isolated design was revealed. The share of single-transformer and two-transformer versions of transformer substations is analyzed.

The present paper describes research on the mechanical properties and related dislocation structure of CdTe, a II-VI semiconductor compound with a wide range of uses in electrical and optical devices. At room temperature CdTe exhibits little plasticity and at the same time relatively low strength and hardness. The mechanical behavior of CdTe was examined at elevated temperatures with the goal of understanding plastic flow in this material and eventually improving the room temperature properties. Several samples of single crystal CdTe of identical size and crystallographic orientation were deformed in compression at 300°C to various levels of total strain. A resolved shear stress vs. compressive glide strain curve (Figure la) was derived from the results of the tests and the knowledge of the sample orientation.
