Abstract To study fire after the mechanical performance of steel girder node special-shaped concrete-filled steel tube column, based on standard ISO - 834 litres of cooling curve, the node temperature field model was established based on finite element software ABAQUS, the compute nodes in the overall uniform temperature field under fire as a result, the reasonable choice of fire after the steel and concrete constitutive model, the temperature field results into the node stress model, considering the factors that influence the whole effect of fire loading in low cycle, the nodes of the finite element model, and contrast analysis of the temperature after the fire of the node and hysteretic performance and ultimate bearing capacity. The results show that the failure modes of special-shaped CFST column-steel beam joints at room temperature and after fire are the same, and the ultimate bearing capacity of the joints after fire decreases significantly by 14.88% compared with that at room temperature.

As Chinese architecture masterpiece, ancient Hui-style architecture is the admiration for Chinese and foreign master builders. According to the bending test, the theoretical calculations and Abaqus finite element analysis on 5 Hui-style architecture beams, this paper points out the differences between un-reinforced beams and reinforced beams on ultimate bearing capacity, deflection and other performance indicators. The reinforcement methods of embedding steel bars, embedding CFRP bars and pasting CFRP plate can respectively improve the ultimate bearing capacity by 20.2%, 32.6% and 37.0%. Based on the plane section assumption and considering thereduction of tensile strength causedby wood knots and defects in tension zone, this paper predicts failure modes of the test beams may occur, and gives the ultimate bearing capacity of different failure modes. In addition, this paper uses the Abaqus finite element software for simulating test beams, and the development trend of load-deflectioncurve between the test and numerical simulation are in good agreement, providing reference for further research of Hui-style architecture.

Nonlinear numerical analysis for the force performance of frame middle joint is processed in this paper with the finite element software of ABAQUS. Compared with experimental results, numerical analysis results are found to be reasonable. Then the influence of factors such as shaped steel ratio and axial-load ratio are contrastively analyzed. The results show that shaped steel ratio has a greater influence on the bearing capacity and hysteretic performance of the structure, but the axial-load ratio has less influence.

Utilizing general finite element software ANSYS, the finite element computing model of the steel spatial tubular joint is built, which is used to analyze the mechanical properties under dead loads through changing its design parameters. According to the obtained and compared consequences, the different design parameters including stiffening ring thickness, cross-shaped ribbed plate thickness and stiffening ring length exert different influence on ultimate bearing capacity of the steel spatial tubular joint. Specifically, the ultimate bearing capacity under dead loads is affected by setting stiffening ring and changing cross-shaped ribbed plate thickness significantly. In contrast, if the thickness and length of stiffening ring are changed, the impact is insignificant. The results and conclusion can provide reference which is useful to optimize the design of steel spatial tubular joint in such category.

This article established the oblique beam system supported by knee brace in portal frame by using finite element software ANSYS. We analysed the ultimate bearing capacity of the system, and discussed the effects of purlin stiffness and knee brace layout on the bearing capacity of the structure. Preliminary analysis shows that, increasing the number of knee brace or improving purlin stiffness can improve ultimate bearing capacity of the system.

According to the basic idea of the finite element method, using the finite element software ANSYS to establish the finite element model of the reinforcement FRP pipe concrete under axial compression, introducing the unit selection in the process of building model ,based on the principle of meshing boundary conditions and constitutive relations selected; The significant degree of the model verified by compare with the test results. Analyzed by finite element reinforcement ratio, concrete strength and other factors on the mechanical properties of concrete under axial compression reinforcement FRP pipe, the analysis of the results shows: The increase of reinforcement ratio to improve the point load of the specimens and improve the composite column ultimate bearing capacity, but the reinforcement ratio increase will reduce the binding effect of the FRP pipe; The whole component be improved the strength of concrete can improve the ultimate bearing capacity, but it reduces the mechanical properties of the specimens.

The dissertation taked the ZBS2 straight-line tower in the UHV line project as the object, used the finite element software ANSYS to establish finite element model and did a analysis about its dynamic characteristics. Considering width and thickness of large width angle steel, the section area of large width angle steel is larger than normal angle steel, and the application of large width angle steel can increase bearing capacity of the member. Therefore, this article taked large width angle steel to replace double combined angle steels in the main members of the tower, and calculated the ultimate bearing capacity. Analysis of comparison indicate that the ultimate bearing capacity increases by 13% when large width angle steel is used. Therefore it is feasible and advantageous that large width angle steel uses in the UHV transimission tower, and it provide a reference and basis for future design of the UHV transmission tower with large width angle steel.

This article researches seismic performance of the joint of cellular steel column and steel beam through simulation of the finite element software. With the change of axial force, we can attain the load-displacement hysteretic curves, skeleton curves under the different axial compression ratio, and then analyze their bearing capacity, ductility, energy dissipation and other mechanical properties. Results show that, the decrease of axial compression ratio is helpful to improve the bearing capacity of specimens. The joints of cellular steel column and steel beam have full hysteretic curve, good ductility and seismic performance.

In this research, response of steel beam-to-column bolted connections to blast loading is investigated. Nonlinear analyses of the connections are performed using the finite element software ABAQUS. In order to demonstrate the accuracy of the finite element modelling, an experimental test of a steel beam-to-column bolted connection is modelled. Comparison of the obtained result from the modelling with that of the corresponding experimental test verifies the modelling. Then, a 5-storey steel building is designed using ETABS software from which a beam-to-column connection of the ground floor is selected for the nonlinear analysis in ABAQUS. Thereafter, the components of the selected connection are designed. Finally, the connection is nonlinearly analysed considering parameters as the distance from the blast centre (2.5 m, 5 m, and 10 m) and blast power (500 kg, 1000 kg, and 2000 kg TNT equivalent mass of explosive). Effects of these parameters on the response of the connection are evaluated. Failure modes of the connections are assessed, too.

In this paper, nonlinear analysis of arch plate ultimate bearing capacity and the process of nonlinear ultimate failure were conducted by ABAQUS finite element software. The numerical failure simulation of steels, arch plate under different external loads and the separation of concrete as well as the whole slippage of concrete were operated. A reference for the further design calculations of reinforced concrete arch plate structure is provided as well.
