Abstract One of the main problems of forestry is increased number of fellings and deforestation. Development of promising technologies in woodworking industry is one of the solutions to this problem. These technologies make it possible to reduce the production cost through the use of cheap and non-scarce materials and improve the quality of the resulting products to the level of premium products by improving the quality of the adhesive bond. The aim of the study is to obtain high-quality glued timber from non-grade oak wood (Quercus Robur L.) based on urea formaldehyde (resin, subsequently treated with ultrasound and constant magnetic field. The studies have shown that strength values of the adhesive bond based on the resin, subjected to shear testing along the wood grain, are significantly higher than that of the control specimens obtained using standard technology. Also, additional studies of internal stresses in the glue line and analysis of the microstructure were carried out. They enable obtain an explanation of the strengthening effect of adhesive joint.

AbstractThis study was developed to evaluate the quality of plywood produced from Melia azedarach in combination with Pinus taeda, glued with urea-formaldehyde resin (UF) and phenol formaldehyde (PF). Panels were produced using five veneers of Melia azedarach only, five veneers of Pinus taeda and also with faces made of Melia azedarach and core with Pinus taeda. The panels were evaluated by glue line shear tests and by static bending in parallel and perpendicular directions. The higher contents of extractives in Melia azedarach wood did not reduce the glue line shear strength between the layers. For both UF and PF glues, panels produced with veneers of Melia azedarach showed better results on static bending and glue line shear tests. The results indicate great potential of Melia azedarach wood in plywood production, both for internal use (UF), and for external use (PF).Keywords: Cinamomo; wood veneer; glue line. ResumoQualidade de painéis compensados de Melia azedarach em combinação com Pinus taeda produzidos com resina uréia-formaldeído e fenol-formaldeído. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a qualidade de painéis compensados de Melia azedarach em combinação com Pinus taeda, produzidos com resina ureia-formaldeído (UF) e fenol-formaldeído (FF). Foram produzidos painéis com todas as cinco lâminas de Melia azedarach e de Pinus taeda, e capas de Melia azedarach e miolo de Pinus taeda. Os painéis foram avaliados por meio de ensaios de cisalhamento da linha de cola e flexão estática paralela e perpendicular. Maiores teores de extrativos presentes na madeira de Melia azedarach não prejudicaram a resistência da linha de cola entre as lâminas. Tanto para a colagem uréica, quanto para a fenólica, os painéis produzidos com lâminas de Melia azedarach apresentaram melhores resultados nos ensaios de flexão estática e de cisalhamento da linha de cola. Os resultados obtidos indicam grande potencial da madeira de Melia azedarach para produção de painéis compensados, tanto para uso interior (UF), quanto para uso exterior (FF).Palavras-chave: Cinamomo; lâminas de madeira; linha de cola.

This study aimed to evaluate the quality of particleboard panels made with wood from Pinus caribaea var. caribaea and Pinus caribaea var. bahamensis, as obtained from forest stands. Experimental panels were produced with a nominal density of 0.70 g/cm³, using urea-formaldehyde resin and wood particles of Pinus caribaea var. caribaea and Pinus caribaea var. bahamensis, at rates of 100%x0%, 75%x25%, 50%x50%, 25%x75% and 0%x100%. Pinus taeda wood was used as control sample. Panels were compressed at a specific pressure of 40 kgf/cm² and temperature of 160ºC, for 8 minutes. Analysis results of water absorption, thickness swell, internal bond, modulus of elasticity and modulus of rupture properties indicated feasibility of using wood from Pinus caribaea var. caribaea and Pinus caribaea var. bahamensis for production of particleboard panels, individually or combined at rates of 75%, 50% and 25%.

ABSTRACT This research aims to evaluate the quality of particleboard produced with particles generated from discarded furniture, both in its pure form or mixed with industrial particles of Pinus. The material was collected in the region of Curitiba City (Paraná) in the form of chips processed in an industrial chipper of a company specialized in waste wood recycling. The experimental plan consisted in producing panels with 10%, 25%, 50% and 75% of particles obtained from discarded furniture mixed with particles of Pinus, and panels with 100% of such materials. Panels were produced with nominal density of 0,70 g/cm3, using the urea-formaldehyde resin in a proportion of 10% solids - dry basis weight of the particles and 1% paraffin emulsion. The panels were pressed with a specific pressure of 4,0 MPa, temperature of 140ºC and pressing time of 10 minutes. The results of internal bond met the requirements of the standard EN 312, which indicates that there was an adequate bonding of these particles obtained from discarded furniture. The results of physical and mechanical properties of the panels demonstrated the feasibility of using particles from discarded furniture when producing particleboard, with the possibility of full use of these particles from waste without mixing it with industrial particles of Pinus free from contamination.

The objective of this work was to evaluate the quality of particleboard produced with 100% of wood of Cupressus torulosa and in different mixing proportions with Pinus taeda. The experimental panels were produced with wood particles of Cupressus torulosa/Pinus taeda, in proportions of 100/0%, 80/20%, 60/40%, 40/60%, 20/80% and 0/100%, totaling six treatments. The panels were produced with nominal density of 0.75g/cm³, 8% urea-formaldehyde resin and 1% paraffin emulsion. The quality of the panels was evaluated by water absorption and swelling thickness 2 and 24 hours, static bending (MOE and MOR), perpendicular tension (internal bonding) and screw withdrawal. The comparative evaluations of the results of this research, with the Pinus taeda, others species referenced in the literature, and normative requirements of EN 312-2003 for commercial panels, indicated great potential of the wood of Cupressus torulosa for the particleboard production.

Esta pesquisa teve como objetivo avaliar a qualidade dos painéis compensados multilaminados produzidos a partir de lâminas de madeira de cinco espécies de pínus tropicais e nove espécies de eucalipto. Foram produzidos em laboratório painéis compensados com cinco lâminas de 2,0 mm de espessura, coladas com resina ureia-formaldeído (UF), com gramatura de 360 g/m². Os painéis foram prensados com pressão específica de 10 kgf/cm², temperatura de 110 ºC e tempo de prensagem de 7 min. Foram avaliadas as propriedades de resistência da linha de cola aos esforços de cisalhamento (RLC), teste seco e úmido e flexão estática (MOE e MOR) paralela e perpendicular. Entre as espécies de pínus tropicais, o P. oocarpa e P. tecunumannii foram as que apresentaram melhor desempenho. Já para as espécies de eucalipto, os melhores resultados foram obtidos para E. saligna, E. viminalis e E. dunnii. Todas as espécies de pínus tropicais e de eucalipto avaliadas neste estudo apresentaram resultados de propriedades mecânicas estatisticamente iguais ou superiores em relação à espécie referencial – Pinus taeda. Os resultados obtidos indicam a viabilidade de uso de lâminas dessas espécies para fabricação de painéis compensados para uso interior.Palavras-chave: Lâminas de madeira; compensados; pínus tropicais; eucalipto. AbstractEvaluation of potential use of species of tropical pine and eucalyptus for UF plywood manufacture. This research was developed in order to evaluate the quality of plywood manufactured from veneers of five species of tropical pine and nine species of eucalyptus. The plywood was manufactured with five veneers of 2.0 mm thickness, using urea-formaldehyde resin with amount of glue spread of 360 g/m². The boards were pressed at pressure of 10 kgf/cm², temperatures of 110 ºC and pressing time of 8 minutes. It was evaluated the properties of glue line shear strength (RLC) and static bending (MOE and MOR), parallel and perpendicular. Among tropical pine species, P. oocarpa and P. tecunumannii presented the best results in relation to mechanical properties of the boards. For the eucalyptus species  best results were obtained by E. saligna, E. viminalis and E. dunnii. All the  tropical pine and eucalyptus species evaluated in this research presented boards mechanical properties statistically equal or greater when compared to referential species - Pinus taeda. The results revealed the feasible use of such species veneers for plywood manufactures to internal applications.Keywords: Veneers; plywood; tropical pine; eucalyptus.

ABSTRACT This study aimed to evaluate the quality of particleboards manufactured with forest exploitation waste from Pinus taeda. The material in the form of branches, tree tops, stumps and roots, was obtained from a forest plantation located in the Municipality of Mafra -SC. All the material was processed into wood chips for biomass and transported to the place of studies. The Pinus industrial particles were used as control and mixed with the waste in different proportions. The experimental plan consisted of the panels manufacture with 100% of each type of material and mixture of these com proportions of 75/25%, 50/50% and 25/75% with Pinus industrial particles, in addition to the mixture in equal parts, of the three types of materials. Experimental panels were manufactured with nominal density of 0.75 g/cm3, using the urea-formaldehyde resin, in the proportion of 8% of solids -dry weight basis of the particles. The panels were pressed with specific pressure of 4.0 MPa, temperature of 160ºC and pressing time of 8 minutes. The results of the internal bond tests met the requirements of the standard EN 312, is indicative that there has been a proper bonding of these particles originating forest exploitation wastes. General evaluations of the physical and mechanical properties results of the experimental panels indicate the possibility of use of particles obtained from branches, tree tops, stumps and roots, mixed com the industrial Pinus particles, in proportion of, up to, 50%, for particleboard manufacture.

The priority in improving the existing methods of processing fish is salting with the use of food additives with different functional orientations. The aim of the study was the development of preserves with the introduction of lactate-containing additives and using sonochemical technologies; examination of the quality of the products obtained according to organoleptic and microbiological safety indicators. The article proposes a resource-saving technology for the production of fish products with prolonged shelf life due to the use of a complex food additive consisting of lactic, acetic, propionic acids and their salts in different proportions with subsequent ultrasonic treatment using the ultrasonic generator of the Wave series model UZTA-0 2/22-OM. There was established the optimal mode of using the ultrasonic processing power of 75 W / m2 in the manufacture of fish preserves from herring. Organoleptic and microbiological quality indicators were studied during storage of preserved products with the addition of additives and ultrasonic treatment compared to the control. Organoleptic assessment was carried out on a five-point scale, microbiological indicators were studied by standard methods. The Dilactin Forte Plus dietary supplement in the composition of preserves in the amount of 3% and in combination with the use of sonochemical technologies makes it possible to obtain a safe high-quality fish product. Manufactured preserves at a storage temperature of 0 ± 2 ° C can maintain their high quality for 5 months.

Reactions between CaCO3 and CH2O2 during polycondensation of UF resin produce Ca2+. Ionic bond complexation binds Ca2+ with UF resin. The UF resin crystalline percentage decreases from 26.86% to 22.71%. IB strength of resin bonded fiberboard increases from 0.75 to 0.94 MPa.
