A preliminary study about the development of Electrical Capacitance Volume Tomography (ECVT) for determining moisture, calorie and the flow of coal mass real-time on the conveyor has been done. This study aims to examine the capability and sensitivity of ECVT as a capacitance measurement system to investigate the correlation between moisture in coal and its dielectric property. The ECVT system comprises of a 2-channel rectangular sensor, data acquisition system and a computer system to control the measurement, process data and display the data of normalized capacitance of coal as the result. The linear correlation between moisture in coal and data of coal relative capacitance is obtained and presented in this paper. The results have shown that ECVT has good capability and sensitivity as a system to monitor the dielectric property and behavior of coal which are affected by the moisture content

Flotasi adalah proses pemisahaan mineral berharga dari pengotornya berdasarkan perbedaan sifat permukaan partikel. Saat ini monitoring proses flotasi kolom di Industri menggunakan machine vision, yaitu teknologi pemindaian flotasi yang dapat mengekstrak karakteristik froth. Teknologi monitoring ini hanya terbatas pada pengambilan gambar di permukaan froth zone, sedangkan proses pemisahaan terjadi pada sumbu aksial di collection zone. Electrical Capacitance Volumetric Tomography (ECVT) merupakan teknologi yang menghasilkan citra tiga dimensi dengan memanfaatkan perbedaan kapasitansi listrik dari tiap material. Oleh sebab itu, teknologi ini mampu memonitor proses flotasi kolom pada sumbu aksial di collection zone. Performa metalurgi flotasi kolom dipengaruhi oleh faktor kimia diantaranya dosis collector dan frother. Dosis collector dan frother mempengaruhi interaksi partikel mineral dan gelembung udara. Percobaan monitoring proses flotasi dilakukan untuk mengetahui interaksi partikel mineral dengan gelembung udara saat proses berlangsung dan perbedaan citra yang dihasilkan pada setiap variasi yang dilakukan dengan kaitannya terhadap recovery. Percobaan monitoring proses flotasi kolom dilakukan dengan variasi dosis collector 150, 500, 850, 1200 g/ton dan dosis frother 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 ppm. Proses monitoring dilakukan menggunakan ECVT 32 channels dengan konfigurasi 8x4 channels secara realtime. Hasil percobaan menunjukkan bahwa terjadi perubahan citra selama proses berlangsung dan terjadi perbedaan citra pada setiap variasi yang dilakukan terhadap recovery yang dihasilkan. Dominasi partikel mineral di dalam sistem meningkatkan kapasitansi normalisasi yang direpresentasikan oleh citra berwarna kemerahan sedangkan dominasi gelembung udara menurunkan kapasitansi normalisasi yang direpresentasikan oleh warna kebiruan.

Tomography is a non-invasive, non-intrusive imaging technique allowing the visualization of phase dynamics in industrial and biological processes. This article reviews progress in Electrical Capacitance Volume Tomography (ECVT). ECVT is a direct 3D visualizing technique, unlike three-dimensional imaging, which is based on stacking 2D images to obtain an interpolated 3D image. ECVT has recently matured for real time, non-invasive 3-D monitoring of processes involving materials with strong contrast in dielectric permittivity. In this article, ECVT sensor design, optimization and performance of various sensors seen in literature are summarized. Qualitative Analysis of ECVT image reconstruction techniques has also been presented.

The tomographic imaging of process parameters for oil-gas-water three-phase flow can be obtained through different sensing modalities, such as electrical resistance tomography (ERT) and electrical capacitance tomography (ECT), both of which are sensitive to specific properties of the objects to be imaged. However, it is hard to discriminate oil, gas and water phases merely from reconstructed images of ERT or ECT. In this paper, the feasibility of image fusion based on ERT and ECT reconstructed images was investigated for oil-gas-water three-phase flow. Two cases were discussed and pixel-based image fusion method was presented. Simulation results showed that the cross-sectional reconstruction images of oil-gas-water three-phase flow can be obtained using the presented methods.
