Abstract Using Microsoft Teams, the students from Psychology and marketing at Upper Iowa University, create a marketing plan focused on proposing a product or service targeting older adults. The Michigan LEND program, engages a minimum of 4 disciplines in practice online simulation approaches to respond to a case study. At Wayne State University and University of Detroit Mercy, during a zoom visit with community dwelling 50+ old adults, students from 9 disciplines collaborate on recommendations, referrals, and resources to improve health and/or quality of life. Marquette University students from 10 health professions participate in a series of four half-day workshops, designed in alignment with the Interprofessional Education Collaborative (IPEC) core competencies.

Background: Interprofessional learning is a key aspect of improving team-based healthcare. Core competencies for interprofessional education (IPE) activities have recently been developed, but there is a lack of guidance as to practical application. Methods and Findings: Cancer Forum is a weekly multi-professional meeting used as the case study for this report. Power was identified as a critical issue and six questions were identified as the basis for a structured reflection on the conduct of Cancer Forum. Results were then synthesised using Habermas’ delineation of learning as instrumental, normative, communicative, dramaturgical, and emancipatory. Power was a key issue in identified obstacles to inter professional learning. Leadership emerged as a cross-cutting theme and was added as a seventh question. The emancipatory potential of interprofessional learning benefited from explicit consideration of the meeting agenda to promote competencies of sharing role knowledge, teamwork and communication. Modelling of required skills fulfils a dramaturgical and normative role. Conclusions: The structured reflection tool highlighted the relationship between power and IPE competencies. It was essential to walk the walk as well as talk. The process followed provides a practical guide for using team meetings to promote interprofessional learning competencies and thereby improving patient care.

The service-oriented approach of the university academic library is highlighted: The social institution of services is to increase quality of living, to be a tool of socializing and adaptation. The authors conclude that in the context of the education new paradigm the services make the focus of Prioksky State University Library to foster efficient library operation and coordination within the university divisions.

Abstract Wayne State University Interprofessional Team Visit (IPTV) is a program that introduces medical, nursing, occupational therapy, pharmacy, physical therapy, physician assistant, dental, and social work students to working in a collaborative team during an older adult home visit assessment. This 60-minute visit, students ask questions about the older adult’s daily activities, nutrition, medications, family health, and social supports. Interprofessional education is crucial for health care delivery, there is a need to evaluate the engagement of students in teams. The Interprofessional Socialization and Valuing Scale (ISVS), measures self-perceived experiences with collaborative teamwork, including the ability, value, and comfort in working with others. The ISVS tool was used to evaluate educational experiences of students. There are 18 questions pertaining to perceptions of what students have learned from other disciplines. Students respond to each statement using a 7-point scale with 1 = “Not at All” and 7 = “To a Very Great Extent.” The Pre and Post data discuss the differences between groups of students in feeling comfortable working in teams. The feedback ensure better care, value, and education of future healthcare practitioners.

Interprofessional collaboration plays a vital role in improving patient outcomes. The ability to work with professionals from different disciplines is considered a critical element of interprofessional practice. In this article, a case of a patient with upper gastrointestinal tract hemorrhage in a gastrointestinal unit is reported and analyzed from the perspective of interprofessional practice. Strategies are also introduced in the article. Enhancing mutual understanding and communication skills is conductive to interprofessional collaboration. Meanwhile, interprofessional education, as another strategy, is proved to improve the quality of health care by enhancing the cooperation among different medical team members.
