Expanding current constructions of Nilotica, chapter 6 examines the creation of three-dimensional “Egyptian” landscapes through garden statuary and water features at the Casa di Acceptus e Euhodia. Sidestepping unproductive debates about whether garden statuary signified “religion” or “Egyptomania,” this case study shows how “Egyptianizing” statuary collaborated with the garden’s other contents to create an interactive model landscape. Some evidence from this house suggests that its inhabitants may have directed a domestic cult toward a form of Isis. However, this chapter argues that such practices should not overdetermine our understanding of the garden assemblage. Rather than a binary divide between “Isiacs” and “non-Isiacs,” evidence suggests a broad spectrum of available religious choices. Furthermore, domestic material culture does not correspond to religious identity in a simple or straightforward way. Regardless of their relationship (or lack thereof) to Egyptian-derived cults, most Pompeians appear to have employed domestic Aegyptiaca and Nilotica in fairly similar ways.

ABSTRACT This article shows how to record current events from an archaeological perspective. With a case study from the COVID-19 pandemic in Norway, we provide accessible tools to document broad spatial and behavioral patterns through material culture as they emerge. Stressing the importance of ethical engagement with contemporary subjects, we adapt archaeological field methods—including geolocation, photography, and three-dimensional modeling—to analyze the changing relationships between materiality and human sociality through the crisis. Integrating data from four contributors, we suggest that this workflow may engage broader publics as anthropological data collectors to describe unexpected social phenomena. Contemporary archaeological perspectives, deployed in rapid response, provide alternative readings on the development of current events. In the presented case, we suggest that local ways of coping with the pandemic may be overshadowed by the materiality of large-scale corporate and state response.

Chapter 7 synthesizes the major conclusions of the book. As an examination of the Egyptian themes at Hadrian’s villa in Tivoli demonstrates, these conclusions are significant not only for Pompeii in 79 CE but also for Roman visual culture more broadly. Issues considered include the use of household material culture to literally “domesticate” ideologies of empire; the relationship between “Egyptianizing” and “Classicizing” forms of Roman art; a comparison of display strategies in “elite” and “non-elite” houses; the relationship between religious identity and material culture; conceptions of order versus chaos in Roman gardens; and the agency of domestic material culture in shaping everyday practices and experiences. The garden assemblages in this book present the Pompeian house not only as a microcosm of empire but also as a workshop where individuals could work out through practice what it actually meant to live in a changing, profoundly interconnected, and increasingly interdependent world.

AbstractThe Liong Ornaments on the roof of Tay Kak Sie Temple in Semarang Central Java are influenced by the various contributions of art and culture to its creation. The issues raised in this research, namely: 1) How Liong ornaments form on the roof of Tay Kak Sie Temple are; 2) How art elements on Liong ornaments on the roof of Tay Kak Sie Temple; 3) What are the contributions of art and culture to the creation of Liong ornaments on the roof of Tay Kak Sie Temple Semarang Central Java. The purpose of this study is to provide an explanation of Liong ornament form on the roof of Tay Kak Sie Temple; art elements on Liong ornaments on the roof of Tay Kak Sie Temple; and cultural art contribution to the creation of Liong statue ornament on the roof of Tay Kak Sie Temple Semarang Central Java. This research uses qualitative method with case study approach. Ornaments Liong statue on the roof of Tay Kak Sie Temple is a three-dimensional work with simplification and deformation techniques. Liong statue ornament is an imitative form of Chinese mythology animal. The texture of the ornament, ie smooth, smooth wavy, and rough. Liong Ornaments use seven colors and contain elements of blue monochromatic color. Liong Ornaments are included in imitative artwork with a style of naturalist expression. Expression of ornaments, namely anger, ambition, and firmness. Liong ornaments form on the roof of Tay Kak Sie Temple Semarang Central Java influenced by the factors of artists, culture, the influence of the Ming Dynasty, the location of the temple, and trust.Keywords: Contribution of Cultural Art, Creation, Liong Ornament, Temple

Space creation is an attempt to more accurately accommodate human norms and values both as individuals and group members, in meaningful space. In that space one has an emotional attachment of spiritual and material culture, so space can be made a place by man to realize his existence according to local culture. The Hindu settlement in Dusun Jengglong, Wagir, Malang as a case study is used to explore the creation of a settlement space based on cosmological conceptions (Traditional religious). This research aims to illustrate briefly that this exploration is aimed at better understanding the foundation on which the creation of local spatial expression is evoked by the cultural context. The research method used is explorative with direct observation and interview to see the phenomenon in the field. In this research can be concluded that the process of forming the settlement space in Dusun Jenglong, Wagir, Malang using the traditional conception of religious Hindu Bali culture. This approach as one form of human effort aligns its relationship with living environments to achieve higher (religious) objectivesand in turn creates a supportive environmental quality.

Modern polishing, precision machining and microindentation techniques allow the processing and mechanical characterization of ceramics at nanometric scales and within entirely plastic deformation regimes. The mechanical response of most ceramics to such highly constrained contact is not predictable from macroscopic properties and the microstructural deformation patterns have proven difficult to characterize by the application of any individual technique. In this study, TEM techniques of contrast analysis and CBED are combined with stereographic analysis to construct a three-dimensional microstructure deformation map of the surface of a perfectly plastic microindentation on macroscopically brittle aluminum nitride.The bright field image in Figure 1 shows a lg Vickers microindentation contained within a single AlN grain far from any boundaries. High densities of dislocations are evident, particularly near facet edges but are not individually resolvable. The prominent bend contours also indicate the severity of plastic deformation. Figure 2 is a selected area diffraction pattern covering the entire indentation area.

In general, people make a will before a Public Notary. According to article 1 paragraph 1 of Act No. 2 of 2014 concerning On Notary (now referred to UUJN). Notary is a public official who is authorized to make authentic agreements and other authorities referred to in the Act, where each testament must be shaped agreement in order to obtain certainty law as an authentic agreement binding.
