Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy is a type of nerve damagethat occurs due to diabetes. High blood sugar levels in thelong term can cause damage to nerve fibers throughout thebody, such as legs, feet, blood circulation, heart, digestivesystem, and urinary tract. Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy isa serious complication of diabetes that often causes pain inthe limbs. Pain management Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathyis usually by administering pain medication for a long periodof time. These medicines will have side effects. The use ofacupuncture as an alternative to help reduce the intensity ofpain in peripheral diabetic neuropathy has proven to beeffective and relatively without side effects. The advantage ofacupuncture therapy is that it has relatively no side effects.The general aim of this study is to reduce the intensity of painin peripheral neuropathy. The research design usesquantitative methods. The study population was all patientswith peripheral neuropathy who visited the Harmoni HealthyClinic in March-May 2019. The sampling method used wasaccidental sampling. The benefits of this study provide analternative for DM sufferers to reduce the intensity ofneuropathic pain naturally with acupuncture without fear.side effects. From the results of this study it is known thatthere is an influence of Jin’s Three Needle acupuncture inreducing the intensity of pain in Peripheral Neuropathy.Calculations using statistical SPSS 21 with paired sample ttest obtained significant results (0.00) from the value of α(0.05), then H1 is accepted. So with a significance level of5%, it can be concluded that Jin's Three Needle acupuncturecan reduce the intensity of pain in diabetic peripheralneuropathy

Background Warm needle acupuncture (WNA) is commonly used in primary osteoporosis (OP) management in China. The evidence of its effectiveness needs to be systematically reviewed. Objective The aim of the meta-analysis was to evaluate whether using WNA alone or combined with conventional medicine benefits primary OP. Methods PubMed, Embase, the Cochrane Central Register, Medline, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wanfang and VIP databases were searched from their inception through 30 June 2016. RCTs applying WNA independently or as an adjunct to conventional medicine, compared with conventional medicine alone, were included. Primary outcomes were bone mineral density (BMD) of the lumbar vertebrae, femoral neck, Ward's triangle and greater trochanter. The secondary outcome was chronic pain measured by VAS score. Meta-analysis was conducted using RevMan V.5.3 software. Results Nine RCTs involving 572 participants were included. When WNA was used as an adjunct to conventional medicine, meta-analysis revealed a statistical difference in favour of increasing BMD of the lumbar vertebrae (mean difference (MD)=0.06, 95% CI 0.03 to 0.08, P<0.001). WNA increased BMD of the femoral neck (MD 0.14, 95% CI 0.08 to 0.21, P<0.001) and greater trochanter (MD 0.09, 95% CI 0.04 to 0.15, P<0.001) when used alone, and additionally decreased VAS scores (MD=−1.10, 95% CI −1.14 to −1.06, P<0.001) when used as an adjunct to conventional medicine. However, the safety of WNA was not specifically reported. Conclusions WNA may have beneficial effects on BMD and VAS scores of patients with primary OP. However, all included trials were at high risk of bias and of low quality. Further rigorous studies are needed to determine the effectiveness of WNA for primary OP treatment.

Background & Objective: NSCs therapy is considered one of the most potential methods for spinal cord injury (SCI). Methods: We build the SCI model rats to investigate the therapeutic effect of fire needle acupuncture in improving the locomotor function of SCI rats and its possible mechanism. BBB scale was used for the motor ability of rats. The expression of Nestin, NSE, Gal-C, and GFAP was detected by immunohistochemistry. Wnt, GSK3β, β-catenin, ERK1/2, CyclinD1, and ngn1 were detected by western blot and PCR. The BBB score of both model group (1.20±0.94, 3.12±0.67, 5.34±1.57, 7.12±1.49) and fire needle group (1.70±0.58, 4.50±1.63, 7.53±2.41, 9.24±0.63) gradually increased after SCI. Furthermore, at d10 and d14, the fire needle group showed a significantly high score compared with that in model group at the same time (P<0.05). Fire needle increased Nestin, NSE, and Gal-C expression inhibited GFAP expression after SCI. Also, fire needle could up-regulate Wnt3a, GSK3β, β-catenin, and ngn1, and down-regulate ERK1/2, cyclinD1 gene and protein expression. Conclusion: In conclusion, fire needle could improve lower limb locomotor function of SCI rats. Also, fire needles could promote endogenous NSCs proliferation differentiating into neurons, and the mechanism might be mediated by promoting the activation of Wnt/β-catenin and inhibiting the overexpression of ERK.

Acupuncture manipulation is one of the key factors affecting the performance of acupuncture in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Lift-thrust and twirl-twist are two of the most commonly used manipulation methods for needle acupuncture. We previously have developed a novel laser acupuncture model that emulates lift-thrust operation. In this study, we intend to show the effectiveness of such a model by applying it on the Neiguan acupoint (PC6). Stimulation was reported to be beneficial for improving cardiac output and peripheral circulation. Therefore, we hypothesized that the stimulation of laser acupuncture may increase the temperature of the subjects’ fingertip due to increased peripheral blood flow. A thermal imager was used to measure the temperature change of subjects’ fingertips. Through regression analysis, it has been shown that while PC6 is stimulated, laser acupuncture with lift-thrust operation caused a more rapid, stable, and lasting temperature rise of fingertip than that without lift-thrust operation. On the contrary, we observe no significant temperature change when a sham point nearby PC6 (a point which is not traditionally defined as the acupoint) was stimulated. Our results suggest the emulation of manipulation methods such as the lift-thrust operation could be a potential direction for the future development of laser acupuncture.
