Pseudomonas guryensis sp. nov. and Pseudomonas ullengensis sp. nov., isolated from soil

Two Gram-staining-negative, aerobic, rod-shaped bacteria designated strains SR9T and UL070T, were isolated from soil and subjected to taxonomic characterization. Strain SR9T grew at 10–37 °C (optimum 30 °C), at pH 4.0–10.0 (optimum pH 8.0) and in the presence of 0–1 % NaCl (optimum 0 %), and UL070T at 4–33 °C (optimum 30 °C), at pH 4.0–10.0 (optimum pH 7.0) and in the presence of 0–2 % NaCl (optimum 0 %), respectively. Strain UL070T was motile with flagella. Analysis of 16S rRNA gene sequences indicated that the two strains fell into phylogenetic clusters belonging to the genus Pseudomonas . Both strains SR9T and UL070T were mostly related to Pseudomonas campi S1-A32-2T with 99.70 and 99.01% sequence similarities, and the similarity between the two isolates was 98.90 %. The genome-based in silico analyses indicated that each of the strains SR9T and UL070T was clearly separated from other species of Pseudomonas , as the orthologous average nucleotide identity (OrthoANI) and the digital DNA–DNA hybridization (dDDH) values were no higher than 93.09 and 50.03% respectively with any related species, which were clearly below the cutoff for species distinction. The fatty acid profiles of the two strains mainly consisting of unsaturated components, the presence of ubiquinone 9 (Q-9) as the major respiratory quinone, and phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) and diphosphatidylglycerol (DPG) as the diagnostic polar lipids were consistent with their classification into Pseudomonas . The DNA G+C contents of strains SR9T and UL070T were 63.2 mol% and 63.6 mol% respectively. On the basis of both phenotypic and phylogenetic evidences, each of the isolated strains should be classified as a novel species, for which the names Pseudomonas guryensis sp. nov. (type strain=SR9T=KCTC 82228T=JCM 34509T) and Pseudomonas ullengensis sp. nov. (type strain=UL070T=KCTC 82229T=JCM 34510T) are proposed.

A Gram-staining-negative, non-motile, yellow-coloured, rod-shaped bacterium, designated S44T, was isolated from bankside soil of Xixi wetland, located in Zhejiang province, China. Growth of strain S44T was observed at 6–37 °C (optimum, 28 °C) and at pH 6.0–9.0 (optimum, 7.0). No growth occurred in the presence of >2 % (w/v) NaCl. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences revealed that strain S44T represented a member of the genus Flavobacterium , showing the highest sequence similarities to the sequences from Flavobacterium succinicans DSM 4002T (96.9 %), Flavobacterium reichenbachii WB 3.2-61T (96.6 %) and Flavobacterium glycines NCBI 105008T (96.5 %). The G+C content of the genomic DNA was 33.6 mol%. The predominant cellular fatty acids were C15 : 0, iso-C15 : 0, anteiso-C15 : 0 and summed feature 3 (comprising C16 : 1ω7c and/or iso-C15 : 0 2-OH), and the major respiratory quinone was menaquinone 6 (MK-6). The major polar lipids were phosphatidylethanolamine, two unknown aminolipids, two unknown aminophospholipids and four unknown polar lipids. On the basis of the phenotypic and genotypic data, it is proposed that the isolate S44T be classified as representing a novel species of the genus Flavobacterium , for which the name Flavobacterium palustre sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is S44T ( = CGMCC 1.12811T = NBRC 110389T).

A novel Gram-staining-negative, aerobic, non-motile, yellow-to-orange carotenoid-type-pigmented and rod-shaped bacterium, designated strain WP25T, was isolated from the intestine of a comb pen shell, Atrina pectinata, which was collected from the South Sea near Yeosu in Korea. The isolate grew optimally at 20 °C, at pH 7 and with 2 % (w/v) NaCl. 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis showed that strain WP25T belonged to the genus Polaribacter in the family Flavobacteriaceae and the highest sequence similarity was shared with the type strain of Polaribacter sejongensis (98.5 %). The major cellular fatty acids were iso-C15 : 0, anteiso-C15 : 0, C15 : 1ω6c and iso-C15 : 0 3-OH. The main respiratory quinone was menaquinone MK-6. The polar lipids of strain WP25T were phosphatidylethanolamine, two unidentified aminolipids, an unidentified phospholipid and four unidentified lipids. The genomic DNA G+C content was 31.2 mol%. DNA–DNA hybridization experiments indicated <12.6 % genomic relatedness with closely related strains. Based on phylogenetic, phenotypic and genotypic analyses, strain WP25T represents a novel species in the genus Polaribacter , for which the name Polaribacter atrinae sp. nov. is proposed, with the type strain WP25T ( = KACC 17473T = JCM 19202T).

A novel Gram-negative, rod-shaped, motile bacterium, designated strain AK13T, was isolated from a sediment sample collected from mangrove of Namkhana, Sunderbans, West Bengal, India. Strain AK13T was positive for oxidase, DNase and lipase activities and negative for catalase, gelatinase, ornithine decarboxylase, lysine decarboxylase, nitrate reductase, aesculinase and urease activities. The fatty acids were dominated by iso-C11 : 0, iso-C11 : 0 3-OH, iso-C15 : 0, iso-C16 : 0, iso-C17 : 1ω9c and summed feature 3 (C16 : 1ω7c and/or iso-C15 : 0 2-OH). Strain AK13T contained Q-8 as the major respiratory quinone and diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylserine, two unidentified aminolipids, one unidentified glycolipid and one unidentified lipid as the polar lipids. The DNA G+C content of strain AK13T was 55.2 mol%. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences indicated that the type strain of Silanimonas lenta , of the family Xanthomonadaceae (phylum Proteobacteria ), was the closest neighbour of strain AK13T, with 95.2 % sequence similarity. Other members of the family showed sequence similarities <94.4 %. Based on the phenotypic characteristics and phylogenetic inference, strain AK13T is proposed as a member of a novel species of the genus Silanimonas , Silanimonas mangrovi sp. nov.; the type strain is AK13T ( = MTCC 11082T  = DSM 24914T). An emended description of the genus Silanimonas is also provided.

A Gram-staining-negative, heterotrophic, facultatively anaerobic bacterium, designated AE6T, was isolated from a grouper (Epinephelus malabaricas) culture tank in a recirculating mariculture system located in Tianjin, China. Strain AE6T was able to grow at 15–40 °C (optimum, 30–35 °C), at pH 5.5–10.0 (optimum, pH 7.0–7.5) and in the presence of 0.5–7 % (w/v) NaCl (optimum, 2–3 %). It contained Q-8 as the predominant respiratory quinone, phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) and phosphatidylglycerol (PG) as the major polar lipids and C16 : 1ω7c/C16 : 1ω6c (40.4 %), C18 : 1ω7c (15.5 %) and C16 : 0 (13.5 %) as the predominant cellular fatty acids. The genomic DNA G+C content was 47.1 mol%. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences revealed that strain AE6T belonged to the genus Photobacterium (94.2–96.8 % of 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity) and formed a distinct phylogenetic lineage within the genus and exhibited the highest sequence similarity to Photobacterium aphoticum CECT 7614T (96.8 %). Multilocus sequence analysis (MLSA) using four loci (gyrB, rpoA, pyrH and recA) also revealed that strain AE6T was phylogenetically related to the genus Photobacterium . Based on the phylogenetic, chemotaxonomic and phenotypic evidence, strain AE6T is considered to represent a novel species of the genus Photobacterium , for which the name Photobacterium aquae sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is AE6T ( = CGMCC 1.12159T = JCM 18480T).

A Gram-reaction-negative, aerobic, rod-shaped and non-motile marine bacterium, designated MEBiC09566T was isolated from a sponge collected at Uljin County in the coastal area of the East Sea (36° 55′ N, 129° 25′ E), Korea. The 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis revealed that strain MEBiC09566T showed the highest similarity with the Kiloniella laminariae LD81T (96.7 %). Growth was observed at 11–31 °C (optimum 25 °C), at pH 6.0–8.5 (optimum pH 7.0) and with 0–6 % (optimum 2.5 %) NaCl. The predominant cellular fatty acids were summed feature 8 (comprised of C18 : 1ω7c/C18 : 1ω6c) and summed feature 3 (comprised of C16 : 1ω7c and/or C16 : 1ω6c). The DNA G+C content is 44.6 mol%. The major respiratory quinone is Q-9. Phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylglycerol, an unidentified lipid, two unidentified aminophospholipids and one unidentified aminolipid were detected as major polar lipids. On the basis of this polyphasic taxonomic data, it is concluded that strain MEBiC09566T should be classified as representing a novel species in the genus Kiloniella and the name proposed is Kiloniella spongiae sp. nov. The type strain is MEBiC09566T ( = KCCM 43040T = JCM 19930T). Emended descriptions of the genus Kiloniella Wiese et al. 2009 and Kiloniella laminariae are also given.

The bacterial strain C3T was isolated from permafrost soil in Beijicun, Mohe County, Heilongjiang province, China. Cells of strain C3T were Gram-stain-negative rods, 0.3–0.4 µm in diameter and 1.0–2.6 µm in length. Strain C3T was strictly aerobic. Growth occurred at 15–37 °C but not at 4 or 42 °C, at pH 5.0–9.0 (optimum pH 6.0–7.0) and in the presence of 0–8 g NaCl l−1 (optimum 0–1 g l−1). The analysis of 16S rRNA gene sequences indicated that strain C3T was phylogenetically related to members of the genus Undibacterium , with similarities ranging from 94.7 to 96.5 %. Strain C3T contained ubiquinone 8 as the major respiratory quinone. The major cellular fatty acids were summed feature 3 (C16 : 1ω7c/C16 : 1ω6c), C17 : 0 cyclo, straight-chain C16 : 0, C12 : 0 and C10 : 0, unsaturated C18 : 1ω7c and hydroxylated fatty acids C10 : 0 3-OH and C12 : 0 2-OH. The polar lipids were mainly phosphatidylethanolamine, diphosphatidylglycerol and phosphatidylglycerol. The polyamines were putrescine and 2-hydroxyputrescine. The DNA G+C content was 57.4 mol% (determined from Tm ). Based on these results, it is concluded that strain C3T represents a novel species of the genus Undibacterium , for which the name Undibacterium terreum sp. nov. is proposed, with C3T ( = CGMCC 1.10998T = NBRC 108789T) representing the type strain.

A non-motile, Gram-staining negative, catalase- and oxidase-positive, crescent-rod shaped bacterium, designated strain CUG 91308T, was isolated from a sediment sample of Qinghai Lake, Qinghai Province, China. Colonies on OSM agar were round, smooth, flat and pinkish-orange in colour. Strain CUG 91308T could grow at 15–37 °C, pH 6–12 and in the presence of up to 7.0 % NaCl (w/v). Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences indicated that strain CUG 91308T belonged to the family Cyclobacteriaceae and formed a clade with the genus Lunatimonas in the phylogenetic tree, but separated from any species of the known genera within the family. The genomic DNA G+C content is about 42.1 %. The predominant fatty acids (>10 %) were iso-C15 : 0 (21.1 %), summed feature 3 (C16 : 1  ω7c / C16 : 1  ω6c / iso-C15 : 0 2OH) (14.3 %), iso-C17 : 0 3OH (12.3 %) and summed feature 9 (iso-C17 : 1  ω9c / C16 : 0 10-methyl) (10.6 %). The polar lipids of strain CUG 91308T were phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) and four unidentified polar lipids. Strain CUG 91308T contained MK-7 as the major respiratory quinone. On the basis of phenotypic, genotypic and phylogenetic data, strain CUG 91308T represents a novel species of a novel genus in the family Cyclobacteriaceae , for which the name Lunatibacter salilacus gen. nov., sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain of the proposed new isolate is CUG 91308T (=KCTC 62636T=CGMCC 1.13593T).

A Gram-negative, orange-colony-forming, aerobic and non-flagellated bacterium, designated strain SM1202T, was isolated from marine sediment of Kongsfjorden, Svalbard. Analysis of 16S rRNA gene sequences revealed that strain SM1202T was phylogenetically closely related to the genus Polaribacter . It shared the highest 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity with the type strain of Polaribacter dokdonensis (94.2 %) and 92.7–93.9 % sequence similarity with type strains of other known species of the genus Polaribacter . The strain grew at 4–35 °C and with 1.0–5.0 % (w/v) NaCl. It contained iso-C15 : 0, iso-C15 : 0 3-OH, iso-C13 : 0, C15 : 0, iso-C15 : 1 G, iso-C17 : 0 3-OH and C15 : 1ω6c as predominant cellular fatty acids and menaquinone-6 (MK-6) as the major respiratory quinone. The polar lipids of strain SM1202T were phosphatidylethanolamine, one unidentified lipid, two unidentified aminophospholipids and one unidentified aminolipid. The genomic DNA G+C content of strain SM1202T was 36.4 mol%. On the basis of the data from this polyphasic taxonomic study, strain SM1202T represents a novel species in the genus Polaribacter of the family Flavobacteriaceae , for which the name Polaribacter huanghezhanensis sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain of Polaribacter huanghezhanensis is SM1202T ( = CCTCC AB 2013148T = KCTC 32516T). An emended description of the genus Polaribacter is also presented.

A Gram-staining-negative, strictly aerobic, white-colony-forming bacterium, designated strain 5-10T, was isolated from forest soil of Bac Kan Province in Vietnam. Cells were non-motile rods or coccoids, showing oxidase- and catalase-positive reactions. Growth was observed at 10–37 °C (optimum, 30 °C), at pH 5.0–9.0 (optimum, pH 7.0) and in the presence of 0–1.0 % (w/v) NaCl (optimum, 0–0.5 %). The major cellular fatty acids were summed feature 3 (comprising C16 : 1ω6c and/or C16 : 1ω7c), C16 : 0, C10 : 0 3-OH and summed feature 8 (comprising C18 : 1ω6c and/or C18 : 1ω7c). The G+C content of the genomic DNA was 69.9 mol% and the only respiratory quinone detected was ubiquinone 8 (Q-8). Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that strain 5-10T formed a tight phyletic lineage with members of the genus Ramlibacter . Strain 5-10T was most closely related to Ramlibacter tataouinensis TTB310T (97.3 %), but the DNA–DNA relatedness level between the two strains was 38.2±1.8 %. Based on phenotypic, chemotaxonomic and molecular features, strain 5-10T was shown to represent a novel species of the genus Ramlibacter , for which the name Ramlibacter solisilvae sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is 5-10T ( = KACC 17567T = JCM 19319T). An emended description of the genus Ramlibacter is also proposed.

A novel Gram-staining-negative, non-motile and rod-shaped bacterial strain containing flexirubin-type pigments, designated S31T, was isolated from bank-side soil of the Xixi wetland in Zhejiang province, China. Growth occurred at 10–37 °C (optimum, 32 °C), pH 6–8 (optimum, pH 7) and with 0–2 % (w/v) NaCl (optimum, 1 %). Strain S31T shared highest 16S rRNA gene sequence similarities with Epilithonimonas lactis H1T (96.2 %) and Chryseobacterium molle DW3T (96.4 %). Phylogenetic analysis suggested that strain S31T was a member of the genus Epilithonimonas . The dominant respiratory quinone was MK-6 and the DNA G+C content was 33.3 mol%. The major fatty acids were iso-C15 : 0, summed feature 3 (iso-C15 : 0 2-OH and/or C16 : 1ω7c) and anteiso-C15 : 0. The major polar lipids of strain S31T were phosphatidylethanolamine, three unidentified aminolipids and four unidentified polar lipids. Based on its phenotypic and chemotaxonomic characteristics and phylogenetic data, strain S31T represents a novel species of the genus Epilithonimonas , for which the name Epilithonimonas xixisoli sp. nov. (type strain S31T = CGMCC 1.12802T = NBRC 110387T) is proposed.
