Abstract Over the past few decades the interest in communication apprehension has increased among researchers and teachers in the field of second/foreign language acquisition (SLA/FLA).The present paper is set between the macro perspective of the social-psychological period - by giving a general view of communication apprehension (CA) - and the situation-specific period - by taking into consideration the immediate educational context. The paper focuses on the phenomenon of communication apprehension among the Croatian university level students in a foreign language classroom setting. In particular, it investigates if there is a difference in the total level of communication apprehension between undergraduate and graduate students of English Language and Literature.Furthermore, it explores whether there is a relationship between different aspects of communication apprehension and the total level of communication apprehension and which background factor is the best predictor of communication apprehension among the students. The first part of the paper brings a theoretical background of the main concepts in this research, whereas the second part of the paper reports on the research itself. Two sets of instruments, questionnaires completed by the students and in-depth interviews conducted among the teachers, were used for the purpose of this study. The results show that the year of study is not a significant predictor of the communication apprehension level which students experience.Among all variables included in the analysis, the only significant predictors of communication apprehension are evaluations.

ABSTRACT ATCC4117 is a strain of S. cerevisiae that undergoes a single nuclear division during sporulation to produce asci containing two diploid ascospores (Grewal and Miller 1972). All clones derived from these spores are sporulation-capable and, like the parental strain, form two-spored asci. In this paper, we describe the genetic analysis of ATCC4117. In tetraploid hybrids of vegetative cells of the ATCC4117 diploid and a/a or α/α diploids, the production of two-spored asci is recessive. From these tetraploids, we have isolated two recessive alleles, designated spo12–1 and spo13–1, each of which alone results in the production of asci with two diploid or near-diploid spores. These alleles are unlinked and segregate as single nuclear genes. spo12–1 is approximately 22 cM from its centromere; spo13–1 has been localized to within 1 cM of arg4 on chromosome VIII. This analysis also revealed that ATCC4117 carries a diploidization gene allelic to or closely linked to HO, modifiers that reduce the number of haploid spores per ascus and alleles affecting the total level of sporulation.

Abstract One of the methods used to treat different cancer diseases is the employment of therapeutic radioisotopes. Therefore, many clinical, theoretical and experimental studies are being carried out on those radioisotopes. In this study, the effects of level density models and gamma ray strength functions on the theoretical production cross-section calculations for the therapeutic radioisotopes 90Y, 153Sm, 169Er, 177Lu and 186Re in the (n,γ) route have been investigated. TALYS 1.9 code has been used by employing different level density models and gamma ray strength functions. The theoretically obtained data were compared with the experimental data taken from the literature. The results are presented graphically for better interpretation.
