In the title compound, [Cu(C2N3)2(C12H10N6)]nor [Cu(dca)2(abpt)]n, where abpt is 4-amino-3,5-bis(pyridin-2-yl)-4H-1,2,4-triazole and dca is the dicyanamide anion, the CuIIcentre is five-coordinate with an approximately square-pyramidal geometry. One of the two dicyanamide ligands is a terminal ligand, but the other one acts as a μ1,5-bridging ligand between pairs of CuIIcentres, so generating a one-dimensional coordination polymer. A combination of N—H...N and C—H...N hydrogen bonds, augmented by π–π stacking interactions, links the coordination polymer chains into a bilayer structure. Comparisons are made with some related CuIIcomplexes containing dca ligands and heteroaromatic co-ligands.

The title compound, [MnCl2(C24H20N6)], has been synthesized and characterized based on the multifunctional ligand 2,5-bis(2,2′-bipyridyl-6-yl)-3,4-diazahexa-2,4-diene (L). The MnIIcentre is five-coordinate with an approximately square-pyramidal geometry. TheLligand acts as a tridendate chelating ligand. The mononuclear molecules are bridged into a one-dimensional chain by two C—H...Cl hydrogen bonds. These chains are assembled into a two-dimensional layer through π–π stacking interactions between adjacent uncoordinated bipyridyl groups. Furthermore, a three-dimensional supramolecular framework is attained through π–π stacking interactions between adjacent coordinated bipyridyl groups.

In the coordination polymer catena-poly[[[diaqua[5-carboxy-2-(pyridin-3-yl)-1H-imidazole-4-carboxylato-κ2 N 3,O 4]lead(II)]-μ-5-carboxy-2-(pyridin-3-yl)-1H-imidazole-4-carboxylato-κ3 N 3,O 4:N 2] dihydrate], {[Pb(C10H6N3O4)(H2O)2]·2H2O} n , the two 5-carboxy-2-(pyridin-3-yl)-1H-imidazole-4-carboxylate ligands have different coordination modes, one being terminal and the other bridging. The bridging ligand links PbII cations into one-dimensional coordination polymer chains. The structure is also stabilized by intra- and interchain π–π stacking interactions between the pyridine rings, resulting in the formation of a two-dimensional network. Extensive hydrogen-bonding interactions lead to the formation of a three-dimensional supramolecular network.

The asymmetric unit of the title coordination polymer, {[Mn(C6Cl2O4)(C10H8N2)]·2C2H5OH}n, consists of one MnIIion, one 2,2′-bipyridine (bpy) ligand, one chloranilate (CA2−) ligand and two ethanol solvent molecules. The MnIIion is octahedrally coordinated by two N atoms of one bpy ligand and four O atoms of two chloranilate ions. The chloranilate ion serves as a bridging ligand between the MnIIions, leading to an infinite zigzag chain along [101]. π–π stacking interactions [centroid–centroid distance = 4.098 (2) Å] is observed between the pyridine rings of adjacent chains. The ethanol molecules act as accepters as well as donors for O—H...O hydrogen bonds, and form a hydrogen-bonded chain along theaaxis. The H atoms of the hydroxy groups of the two independent ethanol molecules are each disordered over two sites with equal occupancies.

AbstractA new one-dimensional Zn(II) coordination polymer, {[ZnCl2(BBM)]·CH3OH}n (2,2-(1,4-butanediyl)bis-1,3-benzimidazole [BBM]), has been obtained from the hydrothermal reaction of zinc chloride with the flexible bis-benzimidazole ligand BBM and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, elemental analysis, IR and UV–vis spectra. Structural analysis has revealed that the BBM ligand connects the Zn(II) atoms to form a square-wave chain, which is further extended into supramolecular layers through hydrogen bonds and π···π stacking interactions. Solid-state fluorescence investigations showed that the Zn(II) coordination polymer has an emission peak at 381 nm upon excitation at 330 nm, which is attributed to ligand-centered luminescence. It is only slightly red shifted as compared to the ligand but partially quenched due to the strong π···π stacking interactions.

In the crystal structure of the title organic proton-transfer complex, 2C12H11N2 +·C7H4O5S2−·3H2O, the cations form one-dimensional chains via intermolecular N—H...N hydrogen bonds and these chains, in turn, form a two-dimensional network through π–π stacking interactions. In addition, the anions and water molecules are connected into a two-dimensional hydrogen-bonded network through intermolecular O—H...O hydrogen bonds. The two motifs result in sheets of cations and anions stacked alternately.

In the title compound, [CdNi(C9H8N2)2(CN)4] n , the Cd and Ni atoms both lie on centres of inversion in space group P21/c. The Cd atom is coordinated by two bidentate quinolin-8-amine ligands and by the N atoms of two cyano ligands, while the square planar Ni atom is coordinated by the C atoms of four cyano ligands. These units form a one-dimensional coordination polymer containing an (–NC—Ni—CN—Cd–) n backbone, and the coordination polymer chains are linked into a three-dimensional array by a combination of N—H...N and C—H...N hydrogen bonds, augmented by a π–π stacking interaction.

A novel one-dimensional CuIIcoordination polymer,catena-poly[bis(μ4-3-{[2-(3-hydroxy-2-oxidobenzylidene)hydrazinylidene]methyl}benzene-1,2-diolato)dimethanoltricopper(II)], [Cu3(C14H10N2O4)2(CH3OH)2]n, (I), was constructed with a di-Schiff base supported centrosymmetric trinuclear CuIIsubunit. In the subunit, two peripheral symmetry-related CuIIcations have square-pyramidal CuNO4geometry and the central third CuIIcation lies on an inversion centre with octahedral CuN2O4geometry. In (I), each partially deprotonated di-Schiff base 3-{[2-(3-hydroxy-2-oxidobenzylidene)hydrazinylidene]methyl}benzene-1,2-diolate ligand (Hbcaz3−) acts as a heptadentate ligand to bind the CuIIcentres into chains along theaaxis. A centrosymmetric Cu2O2unit containing an asymmetrically bridging O atom, being axial at one Cu atom and equatorial at the other Cu atom, links the trinuclear CuIIsubunit into a one-dimensional chain, which is reinforced by intramolecular phenol–methanol O—H...O and methanol–phenolate O—H...O hydrogen bonds. Interchain π–π stacking interactions between pyrocatechol units, with a distance of 3.5251 (18) Å, contribute to the stability of the crystal packing.

In the title compound,catena-poly[bis[(2,2′-bipyridine-κ2N,N′)(1,1,3,3-tetracyano-2-ethoxypropenido-κN)copper(II)]-μ4-hexanedioato-κ6O1,O1′:O1:O6,O6′:O6], [Cu2(C9H5N4O)2(C6H8O4)(C10H8N2)2]n, the adipate (hexanedioate) dianion lies across a centre of inversion in the space groupP\overline{1}. The CuIIcentre adopts a distorted form of axially elongated (4+2) coordination, and the CuIIand adipate components form a one-dimensional coordination polymer from which the 2,2′-bipyridine and 1,1,3,3-tetracyano-2-ethoxypropenide components are pendent, and where each adipate dianion is bonded to four different CuIIcentres. The coordination polymer chains are linked into a three-dimensional framework structure by a combination of C—H...N and C—H...O hydrogen bonds, augmented by a π–π stacking interaction.

In the title one-dimensional coordination polymer, [Cu(SiF6)(C3H4N2)4]n, the CuIIatom is coordinated by two hexafluoridosilicate F atoms and four pyrazole N atoms in a distortedtrans-CuF2N4octahedral environment. The dihedral angle between the planes of the pyrazlole rings in the asymmetric unit is 74.4 (3)°. The hexafluoridosilicate dianion acts as a bridging ligand, connecting the CuIIatoms into a [1-10] chain. The Cu and Si atoms lie on special positions with 2/msite symmetry. In the crystal, intrachain N—H...F hydrogen bonds occur and weak C—H...F interactions link the chains.

A novel two-dimensional→three-dimensional CuIIcoordination polymer, {[Cu2(C10H14N4)5](NO3)4·4H2O}n, based on the 1,1′-(butane-1,4-diyl)bis(1H-imidazole) (biim) ligand and containing one crystallographically unique CuIIatom, has been synthesized under hydrothermal conditions. The CuIIatom is coordinated by five N atoms from biim ligands, one of which has crystallographically imposed inversion symmetry, giving rise to a slightly distorted CuN5square-pyramidal geometry. The CuIIcations are linked by biim ligands to give a 44layer; the layers are further bridged by biim ligands, generating a double sheet with a thickness of 14.61 Å. The sheet features rhombic Cu4(biim)4windows built up from four CuIIcenters and four biim ligands with dimensions of 14.11 × 14.07 Å2. Each window of a layer is penetrated directly by the biim ligand of the adjacent net, giving a two-dimensional→three-dimensional entangled framework.
