Extending the expectation-confirmation model with quality and flow to explore nurses’ continued blended e-learning intention

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to propose a hybrid model based on the expectation-confirmation model (ECM), flow theory, and updated DeLone and McLean information system (IS) success model to examine whether quality factors as the antecedents to nurse beliefs affected nurses’ intention to continue using the blended electronic learning (e-learning) system. Design/methodology/approach – Sample data for this study were collected from nurses at five hospitals in Taiwan. A total of 500 questionnaires were distributed, 396 (79.2 percent) questionnaires were returned. Consequently, 378 usable questionnaires were analyzed in this study, with a usable response rate of 75.6 percent. Collected data were analyzed using structural equation modeling. Findings – Information quality, system quality, support service quality, and instructor quality contribute significantly to perceived usefulness (PU), confirmation, and flow, which together explain nurses’ satisfaction with the usage of the blended e-learning system, and this in turn leads to their continued system usage intention. Originality/value – First, the application of the ECM with the view of updated DeLone and McLean IS success model reveals deep insights into quality evaluation (including information quality, system quality, and support service quality) in the field of nurses’ e-learning continuance intention. Especially, this study additionally contributes to the identification of instructor quality that may lead to nurses’ continued blended e-learning usage intention. Next, the empirical evidence on capturing both extrinsic motivator (i.e. PU) and intrinsic motivator (i.e. flow) for completely explaining quality antecedents of nurses’ blended e-learning continuance intention is well documented.

Purpose This study aims to propose a hybrid model based on expectation–confirmation model (ECM), DeLone and McLean IS success model and task-technology fit (TTF) model to examine whether quality factors and TTF as the antecedents to user beliefs can affect organizational users’ continuance intention of cloud enterprise resource planning (ERP). Design/methodology/approach Sample data for this study were collected from end-users of cloud ERP working in companies in Taiwan. A total of 370 questionnaires were distributed in the 37 sample companies, and 315 (85.1 per cent) usable questionnaires were analyzed using structural equation modeling in this study. Findings This study’s findings indicated that users’ perceptions of system quality, information quality and TTF all contributed significantly to their satisfaction, confirmation and perceived usefulness (PU) of cloud ERP, which in turn directly or indirectly led to their continuance intention of cloud ERP; that is, the results strongly supported the hybrid model integrating ECM, DeLone and McLean IS success model and TTF model with all hypothesized links being significant. Originality/value Empirically, this study’s research model capturing ECM, DeLone and McLean IS success model and TTF model has significantly shed light on the possible formulation of a richer post-adoption model. Noteworthily, considerably more attention should be paid to the fit between information-related characteristics and cloud ERP users’ work goals and needs, while TTF, based on both system-related and information-related technology characteristics, significantly contributes to users’ satisfaction, confirmation and PU, which together directly or indirectly explain their intention to continue using cloud ERP.

This research addresses difficulties in measuring e-commerce success by implementing the DeLone and McLean (D&M) model of IS success (1992, 2003) in an e-commerce environment. This research considers the influence of quality on e-commerce success by measuring the information quality and system quality attributes of an e-commerce system and the intention to use, user satisfaction and intention to transact from a sample of respondents. This research provides an empirical e-commerce application of the updated IS success model proposed by DeLone and McLean (2003). This paper found significant relationships between Information Quality and System Quality and three success dimensions: intention to use, user satisfaction and intention to transact. It found the following constructs to be most important in predicting success: ease of understanding, personalisation and reliability. In particular, that reliability is more important than usability where transactions are concerned and security though important, is not the most important factor.

With the influx of the Internet, Business to Customer E-commerce (B2c e-Commerce) has gained popularity around the globe. Although a number of researches has been done to know the factors affecting the adoption of e-commerce, however, not much research has done to know the effects of e-commerce on online shopping success.  DeLone and McLean introduced the Information System (IS) success model in year 1992, later on, refined the same model with the newer concept, to fully understand the effects of IS success. In this paper, authors have used the DeLone and McLean IS success model 2003 with addition two constructs Privacy and Trust.  Seven interrelated dimensions of e-commerce were examined namely, Service Quality, System Quality, Trust, Privacy, User satisfaction and Net benefits. The proposed model and the relationship between the various constructs were measured by gathering the data from 381 users from the business faculty of Klang valley universities in Malaysia. Seven interconnected dimensions of B2C e-commerce success were confirmed namely, Service Quality, System Quality, Information Quality, Trust, Privacy along with User Satisfaction and Net Benefits. Confirmatory Factor Analysis CFA and SEM were used to analyse the collected data and proved the hypothesis. The results revealed that system quality, service quality, trust and privacy are directly related to user satisfaction which in turn directly related to net benefits, whereas information quality has no any influence on user satisfaction in terms of e-commerce.

Many e-learning studies have evaluated learning attitudes and behaviors based on TAM. However, a successful E-Learning System (ELS) should take both system and information quality into account by applying ISM developed by Delone and McLean. In addition, the acceptance for information system depends on the perceived usefulness and ease of use according to TAM. This research combines TAM with ISM by introducing system quality, quality of platform information, and course information as an antecedent of perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use. These factors are crucial for understanding users’ intentions to continue their use of ELS. The research model was examined with data collected from 164 practicing students with ELS experiences. The results indicated that system quality, platform information, and course information had a significantly positive effect on users’ satisfaction and their intention to use ELS continuously.

Background: The increasing usage and development of e-commerce in Indonesia, demands competition between e-commerce that exists. To be successful e-commerce should be balanced with a good information system. Some clinical research has established what factors that affected the success, including DeLone and McLean. According to their e-commerce success model, there are six variables that affect e-commerce success, system quality, information quality, service quality, use, user satisfaction, and net benefitObjective: The study aims to analyze the relationship between system quality, information quality and service quality to user satisfaction and use. In addition, the study aims to analyze the relationship between user satisfaction and use to a net benefit.Methods: This study draws on the DeLone and McLean Model of Information System (IS) success model. It is a quantitative study that was conducted in the form of a survey of 110 users of each Lazada, Bukalapak, and Shopee users.Results: By applying DeLone and McLean model, this findings confirmed four hypotheses were significant in Bukalapak, Lazada, and Shopee.Conclusion:There were significant effect between the system quality on user satisfaction, service quality on use, service quality on user satisfaction and user satisfaction on net benefits. Meanwhile, system quality had insignificant effect to use and also information quality to use in Bukalapak, Lazada, and Shopee.Keywords: DeLone and McLean model,E-Commerce Success, Information System Success Measurement, IS Success Model

Purpose Self-service technology (SST) has become popular in many areas, but consumers from many countries still prefer human-provided services. Why is this so? The purpose of this paper is to understand the possible reasons by integrating two perspectives: personal characteristics marketing and the information systems success model (IS success model). Design/methodology/approach The authors propose an integrated model and conduct an empirical questionnaire survey which generates a total of 345 valid responses. Findings The authors find that personal technology anxiety and the need for interpersonal interaction are critical factors that affect SST usage continuance intention. Furthermore, personal technology anxiety affects the consumer’s perception of the quality of both the information and the SST system itself, which determines the level of satisfaction and the intention to continue to use the system. Second, the IS success model perspective reveals that the following factors determine the level of perceived satisfaction with SST: information quality, system quality, enjoyment and design. However, only information quality and system quality affect the intention to continue SST usage. The authors also find that satisfaction and the need for interpersonal interaction also determine the SST usage continuance intention. Originality/value The IS success model is found to be helpful in understanding the underlying reasons for this. To aid in the development of successful future SSTs, these findings can be referenced by countries in which SST is not so popular. Our proposed model further enhances the theoretical development of the IS success model.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to conceptualise a framework that integrates information quality, system quality, function quality, and social influence based on the information system (IS) success model, to explore the relationship among these factors, which might be the key determinants of Facebook educational usage intention. Design/methodology/approach – An internet survey was conducted to collect empirical data from 221 Facebook users on their experiences of using Facebook. This study applied structural equation modeling (SEM) to demonstrate the proposed model’s construct relations and multiple group analysis. Findings – The results of this study show that social influence and information quality are critical and direct determinants that affect users’ continuous intention to use Facebook in learning; social influence also indirectly affect Facebook usage intention through the mediating effect of information quality. Except the path between social influence and usage intention in age subgroups, the relationships among these determining factors in the proposed model are stable, and there were no significant differences among gender subgroups and age subgroups examined using the multiple group comparison test. Originality/value – The findings provide a better understanding of the IS success model that influences the Facebook educational usage intention for researchers and practitioners.

During the Covid pandemic the learning process was carried out using e-learning media. SMK TI Airlangga Samarinda is one of the schools that has used e-learning in its learning process both before the Covid pandemic. Furthermore, an evaluation of the success of e-learning implementation will be carried out using the DeLone and McLean information system success model (D&M IS Success Model). In this model, there are six measurement variables, namely system quality, information quality, service quality, usage, user satisfaction, and net benefits. The purpose of this study is to provide an overview of the use of e-learning at SMK TI Airlangga Samarinda to the school and to find out the factors that influence the successful implementation of e-learning at SMK TI Airlangga Samarinda. To achieve this goal, SEM-PLS analysis (structural equation model - partial least square) is used. The subjects used were 336 students of SMK TI Airlangga Samarinda. The sampling technique used in this study was purposive sampling, with consideration of the availability of data obtained a sample of 192. Data collection techniques in this study using questionnaires, interviews, and literature study. The results of this study indicate that the quality of information and system quality in e-learning has a positive effect on the satisfaction of using e-learning which in turn has an effect on the benefits felt by students while using e-learning. In addition, the quality of the e-learning system also has a positive effect on the intensity of e-learning use, which means that the better the quality of the system will increase the intensity of e-learning use.

The investment in information system brings significant impacts on the banking industry because it plays a pivotal role in providing better services and competitive edges. This study evaluated satisfaction level and benefit of the usage of the banking system which is m-Banking using the IS Success Model approach developed by DeLone and McLane in 2003. The population in this study was customers of one of the largest banks in Indonesia, namely Bank Central Asia (BCA) with a sample size of 200 customers. The data were analyzed using Structural Equation Model (SEM) with AMOS. The results showed that the IS Success Model consisting of system quality, information quality and service quality has a significant impact on customer satisfaction in using BCA m-Banking. This study also validates the research conducted by DeLone and McLean (2003) in developing the IS Success Model as a measure of the quality and key to the success of an information system.
