Administrative and medical information about the patient forms, in each case, a pattern, the complexity of which increases as the number of data grows. Even when the data are 4—5 in number, the human ability to recognize and distinguish between different patterns begins to fail, A mathematical method (linear discriminatory analysis) has been worked out. This system of analysis appears to provide opportunities of placing patients with the same or similar patterns in classes which are diagnostically, prognostically or therapeutically homogeneous.

AbstractThe purpose of this paper is to establish the intersection curves between cylinders, using Mathematica program. The equations curves which are inferred by mathematical methods are introduced in this program. This paper takes into discussion the case of four cylinders.

The improvement of performance capacity represents the objective to be achieved within sport training, as it is materialised by obtaining valuable results. The sport condition represents the essence of performance capacity. This is the reason why I have decided to study thoroughly the notions related to „sport condition”, but mainly because I wanted to reach an agreement with respect to the age when performance athletes and swimmers achieve the peak sport condition during their career, obtaining the most important victories or results in important competitions. By analysing the specialised literature, based on both the observation, and statistical-mathematical method, I have taken over and calculated the average ages both for women and for men using nine studies of sport specialists. Splitting both the athletic and swim trials in two categories, namely: speed/explosion trials and endurance trial, I have reached the conclusion that the average age when men achieve the peak sport condition is 26 years and of women 25.3 years. Also, each trial has its characteristics, therefore, the average ages of reaching the peak sport condition are different.

Abstract Background Mathematical approaches have been for decades used to probe the structure of DNA sequences. This has led to the development of Bioinformatics. In this exploratory work, a novel mathematical method is applied to probe the DNA structure of two related viral families: those of coronaviruses and those of influenza viruses. The coronaviruses are SARS-CoV-2, SARS-CoV-1, and MERS. The influenza viruses include H1N1-1918, H1N1-2009, H2N2-1957, and H3N2-1968. Methods The mathematical method used is the slow feature analysis (SFA), a rather new but promising method to delineate complex structure in DNA sequences. Results The analysis indicates that the DNA sequences exhibit an elaborate and convoluted structure akin to complex networks. We define a measure of complexity and show that each DNA sequence exhibits a certain degree of complexity within itself, while at the same time there exists complex inter-relationships between the sequences within a family and between the two families. From these relationships, we find evidence, especially for the coronavirus family, that increasing complexity in a sequence is associated with higher transmission rate but with lower mortality. Conclusions The complexity measure defined here may hold a promise and could become a useful tool in the prediction of transmission and mortality rates in future new viral strains.

In this paper, the vibration of a three screw pump was studied. Firstly the vibration response of the pump was tested. Then the FE model of the pump was constructed and the modals of it were calculated. The exactness of the result was confirmed by the testing modals and the reasonable of the FE model was verified at the same time. Finally, the force acted on rotors due to pressure was calculated by the mathematical method of surface integral. The force was loaded on the FE model and the force response was predicted, which represented the basic vibration of the screw pump. Based on the work above, the vibration spectrum of the screw pump was analyzed.
