The present article proposes a mathematical method for factoring in the compliance of foundation slabs in NPP structures under dynamic loading. In many cases, such an approach allows the analysis results to be significantly improved, whereas sometimes it is simply a necessary part of the procedure, i.e., when structures having “detached” exterior walls are exposed to an air shock wave generated by an aircraft crash. The presented method applies soil springs and dampers as per ASCE 4-16, specially distributed along the foundation slab bottom of a building. The conclusion presents the results of calculating the integral characteristics of soil springs and dampers according to the realistic (saddle-shaped) law of their distribution along the foundation slab bottom of a typical building.

The utility function has long been the main tool used by many economists due to the mathematization of economics. Some textbooks on mathematical economics state that the application of mathematics in economics imposes greater rigor, precision, and transparency of assumptions, not significantly different from the non-mathematical method. When analyzing utility function, it can be noticed that its application influences the economic analysis by imposing certain behaviors on people and giving them a mechanical character, primarily by introducing a constant relationship between the goods or goals considered by the person. For this reason, it is almost impossible to take into account the real uncertainty in theoretical research, which overly mechanizes the description of decision-making and economic processes.

A forbidden zone theorem, hypothesis, and applied mathematical method and model are introduced in the present article. The method and model are based on the forbidden zones and hypothesis. The article is initiated by the well-known generic problems concerned with the mathematical description of the behavior of a man. The essence of the problems consists in biases of preferences and decisions of a man in comparison with predictions of the probability theory. The model is uniformly and successfully applied for different domains. The ultimate goal of the research is to solve some generic problems of behavioral economics, decision theories, and the social sciences.

In Mexico and many parts of the world, land cargo transport units (UTTC) operate at high speeds, causing accidents, increased fuel costs, and high levels of polluting emissions in the atmosphere. The speed in road driving, by the carriers, has been a factor little studied; however, it causes serious damage. This problem is reflected in accidents, road damage, low efficiency in the life of the engine and tires, low fuel efficiency, and high polluting emissions, among others. The official Mexican standard NOM-012-SCT-2-2017 on the weight and maximum dimensions with which motor transport vehicles can circulate, which travel through the general communication routes of the federal jurisdiction, establishes the speed limit at the one to be driven by an operator. Because of the new reality, the uses and customs of truck operators have been affected, mainly in their operating expenses. In this work, a mathematical model is presented with which the optimum driving speed of a UTTC is obtained. The speed is obtained employing the equality between the forces required to move the motor unit and the force that the tractor has available. The required forces considered are the force on the slope, the aerodynamic force, and the friction force, and the force available was considered the engine torque. This mathematical method was tested in seven routes in Mexico, obtaining significant savings of fuel above 10%. However, the best performance route possesses 65% flat terrain and 35% hillocks without mountainous terrain, regular type of highway, and a load of 20,000 kg, where the savings increase up to 16.44%.

The modern era witnessed a remarkable development of many sciences, the first ‎of which was mathematics, a fact that directly affected the development of ‎philosophy at that time. This was evident with the rationalist doctrine of ‎Descartes and his followers who made mathematics science their highest scientific ‎ideal that philosophy should emulate by adopting its method and its method of ‎inference as well as some of its concepts. In fact, the impact of mathematics was ‎not limited to philosophy alone, but extended to all branches of knowledge, such ‎as physics, psychology, sociology, economics, ethics, Yet, its impact on ‎philosophy was very strong and distinctive. The reason for this is that the great ‎philosophers of the modern era like Descartes and Leibniz were also great ‎mathematicians. ‎ Thus, the present paper is devoted to Descartes, considering that he was one of ‎the philosophers most influenced by mathematics and geometry in particular. He ‎was greatly upset by the decline of philosophy in his time, its immerson in ‎ambiguity and turmoil, and its fall into endless sterile, debates,‎‏ ‏in contrast to the ‎development of mathematics, and its clarity, objectivity and accuracy. ‎Accordingly, he aspired for philosophy to become a clear, objective, accurate and ‎certain science like mathematics itself through the application of the mathematical ‎method. The clarification of this idea is the objective of this research paper‎.

The present work analyzed a review of methods for analyzing sequences of matrices or dichotomous data. A new method for a sequence of dichotomous matrices with a different number of rows is presented; the Dichotomous STATIS DUAL. Suppose we match the sequence of matrices by different years, with this method. In that case, we can graphically represent the relations among the different columns of all the matrices, and the relations between those columns and the different years, because everything can be represented in the same plots. As in all STATIS methods, three different plots can get: (i) the interstructure, with the relations among the years; (ii) the compromise, with the stable part of the relations between the columns; and (iii) the intrastructure (also known as trajectories), with the relations between columns and years, in other words, the evolution of the columns through the time. This new mathematical method can be used with all kinds of dichotomous data, thanks to the software we propose. In the present work, the software was applied to the assessment of learning styles.

Abstract Today, insulated building envelopes must not only meet thermal-technical, mechanical, and economic requirements but must also be environmentally friendly. These requirements are often contradictory, and it is not clear what the effective option is for a particular case. The aim of the paper is to compare twenty different variants of building envelopes, not only in terms of thermal-technical properties but also in terms of environmental parameters and time and financial demands. The result of the paper is the determination of effective variants by a suitable mathematical method with consideration of all the above-mentioned influences.

Abstract The purpose of this paper is to analyse the railway transport of passengers in Kosovo, to determine its intensity and structure, to analyse which factors have the greatest impact on the demand for regular rail transport. Furthermore, the paper will examine which trend, which model fits best in moving this mode of transport based on data from 2011 to 2019, and then predict future trends in transport demand. The existence and strength of the dependence among the selected factors, which are assumed to have an impact on passenger rail transport will be examined by the mathematical method of regression analysis.
