An effective method for rotor resistance identification for high-performance induction motor vector control

This paper presents the vector control of Induction Motor (IM) supplied by a photovoltaic generatorwhich is controlled by an adaptive Proportional-Integral (PI) speed controller. The proposed solution is used toovercome the induction motor rotor resistance variation problem, which can affect negatively the performanceof the speed control. To overcome the rotor resistance variation, an adaptive Proportional-Integral controller isdeveloped with gains adaptation based on Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) in order to guaranteea high performances of electric drive systems against the parametric variations. The proposed control algorithmis tested by Matlab-Simulink. Analysis of the obtained results shows the characteristic robustness to disturbancesof the load torque and to rotor resistance variation compared to the classical PI control and Model ReferenceAdaptive System (MRAS) rotor resistance observers.

In this paper, a new vector control strategy is proposed to reduce torque ripples and harmonic currents represented in switching table-based direct torque control (ST-DTC) of a six-phase induction motor (6PIM). For this purpose, a new set of inputs is provided for the switching table (ST). These inputs are based on the decoupled current components in the synchronous reference frame. Indeed, using both field-oriented control (FOC) and direct torque control (DTC) concepts, precise inputs are applied to the ST in order to achieve better steady-state torque response. By applying the duty cycle control strategy, the loss subspace components are eliminated through a suitable selection of virtual voltage vectors. Each virtual voltage vector is based on a combination of a large and a medium vector to make the average volt-seconds in loss subspace near to zero. Therefore, the proposed strategy not only notably reduces the torque ripples, but also suppresses the low frequency current harmonics, simultaneously. Simulation and experimental results clarify the high performance of the proposed scheme.

This paper proposes a novel vector control method based on Rotor flux Field-Oriented Control (RFOC) for single-phase Induction Motor (IM) drives. It is shown that in a rotating reference frame, the single-phase IM equations can be separated into forward and backward equations with balanced structures. In order to accommodate for these forward and backward equations, a drive system consisting of two RFOCs that are switched interchangeably, is proposed. Alternatively, these two RFOC algorithms can be simplified as a single FOC algorithm. The analysis, controller design and simulation of the proposed technique showed that it is feasible for single-phase IM drive for high performance applications.

Induction motor with indirect field oriented control is well suited for high performance applications due to its excellent dynamic behavior. But, the indirect field oriented controller is sensitive to variations in rotor time constant, especially variation in rotor resistance. In this study a scheme based on the Rotor flux Model Reference Adaptive Controller is used for on line identification of the rotor resistance and thus improving the steady state performance of the drive.  The overriding feature of this estimation technique is the accurate identification of rotor resistance especially during transient and steady state conditions when the drive is operating at full load and at zero motor speed condition. Moroever, the effectiveness of the TS fuzzy controller utilizing rotor flux for online estimation of rotor resistance for four quadrant operation of motor drive is investigated and compared with the conventional PI and Mamdani fuzzy controller Simulation results in MATLAB/Simulink environment.have been presented  to confirm the effectiviness of the technique.
