According to popular belief, air temperature effects on wind turbine power output are produced solely by air density variations, and power is proportional to air density. However, some cases have been reported, all involving stall-controlled wind turbines, in which unexpected high power output was observed at very low temperatures. As a preliminary study, this article intends to quantify the influence of air temperature on the power production of the Tacke TW600 wind turbine installed in Tiverton, Ontario, Canada. Increases in power output due to air temperature variation are stratified by wind velocity, showing that these increases are below the theoretical limits of air density variations during operation in low winds and are comparable to and beyond those theoretical limits at higher wind velocities. At – 9°C and 0°C, narrow bands of power at distinct levels are observed in the stall regime of the turbine; they are typical of many stall phenomena observed on stall-controlled rotors, but these levels have been found to be independent of any parameters recorded.

Wind energy has many advantages, it does not pollute and it is an inexhaustible source. However, the cost of this energy is still too high to compete with traditional fossil sources. The yield of a wind turbine depends on three parameters: the power of the wind, the turbine power curve and the ability of the generator to respond to fluctuations in the wind. This article presented the MPPT of a wind turbine system equipped with an asynchronous generator has dual power under MatlabSimulink program, in the first time we simulated all the conversion chain with complete model of DFIG and vector control in second stepthen applied the extracted maximum power MPPT strategists, this command is effective and has several advantages it offered to kept the maximum power delivered to network despite all the parameter is change.

Efficiency is turning into more and more necessary in power electronics. New applications are developed to reduce the consumption of en-ergy. Inverters that supply continuous quality power have vast use in solar energy based applications. For a Wind Turbine Generation sys-tem with neutral-point-clamped (NPC) topology in a back to back converter , good efficiency is provided when operated at high power. In NPC topology totally twelve switches are present. Input current distortion, torsion vibration and output current distortion is caused by open switch fault within NPC inverter and rectifier of the consecutive converter. Wind Turbine Generation systems will be erroneous due to such faults. Open-switch fault detection methodology is necessary for consecutive converters for enhancing the output of Wind Turbine Genera-tion systems. Our proposed work checks NPC rectifier and inverter for outer and inner open switch faults. Additionally for all the possible open-switch faults , a novel open-switch fault detection methodology within the back to back converter has been presented in this paper.
