Security is a pending challenge in cooperative spectrum sensing (CSS) as it employs a common channel and a controller. Spectrum sensing data falsification (SSDF) attacks are challenging as different types of attackers use them. To address this issue, the sifting and evaluation trust management algorithm (SETM) is proposed. The necessity of computing the trust for all the secondary users (SUs) is eliminated based on the use of the first phase of the algorithm. The second phase is executed to differentiate the random attacker and the genuine SUs. This reduces the computation and overhead costs. Simulations and complexity analyses have been performed to prove the efficiency and appropriateness of the proposed algorithm for combating SSDF attacks.

AbstractIn this article, we present the user-centered development of the service robot IURO. IURO’s goal is to find the way to a designated place in town without any previous map knowledge, just by retrieving information from asking pedestrians for directions. We present the 3-years development process,which involved a series of studies on its appearance, communication model, feedback modalities, and social navigation mechanisms. Our main contribution lies within the final field trial.With the autonomous IURO platform, we performed a series of six way-finding runs (over 24 hours of run-time in total) in the city center of Munich, Germany. The robot interacted with approximately 100 pedestrians of which 36 interactions included a full route dialogue. A variety of empirical methods was used to explore reactions of primary users (pedestrians who actually interacted with the robot) and secondary users (bystanders who observed others interacting). The gathered data provides insights into usability, user experience, and acceptance of IURO and allowed us deriving recommendations for the development of other socially interactive robots.

This paper investigates the impact of cooperative spectrum sharing policy on the performance of hybrid radio frequency and free space optical wireless communication networks, where primary users and secondary users develop a band of the same spectrum resource. The radio frequency links obey Nakagami-m distribution with arbitrary fading parameter m, while the free space optical link follows gamma-gamma distributed atmospheric turbulence with nonzero pointing error. Because the secondary users access the spectrum band without payment, their behavior needs to be restricted. Specifically, the power of the secondary users is dominated by the tolerable threshold of the primary users. Considering both heterodyne and intensity modulation/direct detection strategies in optical receiver, the performance of optical relaying networks is completely different from that of traditional networks. With the help of bivariable Fox’s H function, new expressions for cumulative distribution function of equivalent signal to noise ratio at destination, probability density function, outage probability, ergodic capacity and symbol error probability are built in closed forms.
