The Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) is a reliable protocol of transport layer which delivers data over unreliable networks. It was designed in the context of wired networks. Due to popularity of wireless communication it is made to extend TCP protocol to wireless environments where wired and wireless network can work smoothly. Although TCP work in wireless and wired-cum-wireless network, the performance is not up to the mark. In literature lot of protocols has been proposed to adopt TCP in wireless mobile ad hoc network. In this, we present an overall view on this issue and detailed discussion of the major factors involved. In addition, we survey the main proposals which aim at adapting TCP to mobile and static Ad hoc environments. Specifically, we show how TCP can be affected by mobility and its interaction with routing protocol in static and dynamic wireless ad hoc network.

HADES is a mine scout robot designed to be deployed by first responders to assess mine conditions post-disaster. HADES requires the capability of wireless communication between HADES and the operators on the surface station. Post-disaster mine conditions pose significant challenges to communication systems. This thesis discusses a wireless solution using 802.11b ad-hoc radios. The system developed in this thesis, named HERMES, comprises of the node system RF electronics, internal firmware, and ROS interface to the endpoints. A node design is developed in conjunction with a 2.4 GHz radio module capable of transmitting basic video data. The wireless HERMES nodes are stacked in the HADES robot and deployed as the robot traverses the mine. These wireless nodes are operable for at least 8 hours and have a range of 80 m. The wireless network formed by HERMES allows both video data and sensor data to return to a base station outside the mine. A bespoke decimation in time compression video compression strategy is implemented which provides a basic monochrome video stream with 320 x 240 resolution. This enables video to be streamed through the HERMES network with an overall through-put of 160 kbps on the application level. This basic compression is investigated and evaluated and a video stream with a peak refresh-rate of 40 frames per second with an 800 millisecond response delay is achieved.

The article deals with the issues of research, development and implementation of local area wireless networks in the educational process, especially with the study of the signal level for data transmission control of the local wireless network indoors. The controlled telemechanics unit uses wired systems for communication of the operator with various sensors and actuators, which creates certain difficulties and risks for the operator working in site of the telemechanics unit. The article considers a potential use of wireless technologies in the educational process, which demonstrates how to secure the operator and reduce the time to bypass all the sensors of the actuators, as well as to develop a short-range wireless subsystem.

With the rapid development of wireless network communication in China, information transmission technology has become the key point. Information transmission mainly includes wireline network communication, wireless network communication and broadband communication. Due to the limitation of communication barriers in different areas and environment, problems, such as poor signal, weak channel transmission and distribution ability, and channel congestion, will emerge during the information transmission process. Therefore, by taking transmission control technology as the research object, analysis on the disadvantages of computer wireless network communication are conducted in this article. Some corresponding improvement measures are also put forward for reference.

Video stream codec and transmission control algorithm is very important to improve quality of service of video on Internet. A priority video transmission algorithm based on queue-length(VTA-QL) is proposed. Different kind of video frame is marked with different priority and is scheduled according to its priority. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm VTA-QL can improve the video transmission quality greatly, and that link bandwidth, delay and queue length have much effect on video transmission quality.
