Workflow management system is playing more and more significant role in business process management (BPM) and office automation (OA) of enterprises[. It can improve the efficiency and manageability of an enterprises daily teamwork, control as well as coordinate the processes[. Traditionally, it is not easy for the workflow modeling method to describe the complex business process clearly and intuitively. In this paper we improved the role based workflow model, and proposed a workflow modeling method based on multi-role playing. It is possible to make the modeling easier and simpler when we come to the complex business process modeling problems. Finally, an example of a B/S based Enterprise Financial Reimbursement Management System (EFRMS) is demonstrated to prove the convenience and feasibility about the method mentioned.

Configurable MES is a hot attention in today’s industry. In this work, we present a MES model based on a production process modeling method. With the workflow management technology, a configurable MES framework is introduced and some important implementation methods such as production process modeler, activity script language and production process scheduler are presented. A successful application of an automobile engine assembly line shows that this model is useful and effective.

Socio-technical systems integrate technical and organizational structures and are related to various stakeholders and their perspectives. The design of socio-technical systems has to support this integration and to take the differing perspectives into account. To support this goal, the design concepts have to be represented with appropriate documentation methods, which combine formal and informal aspects. Communication processes have to be facilitated which systematically refer to these kinds of documentation. Therefore a socio-technical, semi-structured modeling method (SeeMe) is introduced. It represents socio-technical concepts with diagrams which can be developed, evaluated and improved by the socio-technical walkthrough (STWT). This facilitation method—together with a corresponding software-tool—has proven to be suitable for socio-technical design in complex, practical projects.

To arrive at a good status of all European water bodies is the main objective of the European Union (EU) Water Framework Directive (WFD). Since its adoption in 2000, the policy has fundamentally changed the institutional, procedural and organizational structures of Member States' water management, leading to an Europeanization of national legislation and decision-making structures. The case of WFD implementation in Schleswig-Holstein is an example of the policy's highly innovative governance architecture that unfortunately is not (yet) able to take that one last hurdle: to improve water quality and establish a good water status across EU Member States by 2015 or 2027.
