The capabilities of two types of terahertz sources based on stimulated Smith – Purcell radiation of electrons in open cavities are discussed. A series of developed pulsed orotrons provides coherent radiation at frequencies up to 410 GHz with an output power of 1–0.1 W with high frequency stability. A promising alternative source with smaller currents than in orotrons is a frequency multiplier based on the excitation of a surface wave of a periodic structure and Smith – Purcell radiation of arising electron bunches inside the orotron cavity. A possibility of frequency doubling inside the orotron cavity is experimentally demonstrated at a frequency of 190 GHz

Magnonic crystals and gratings could enable tunable spin-wave filters, logic, and frequency multiplier devices. Using micromagnetic models, we investigate the effect of nanowire damping, excitation frequency and geometry on the spin wave modes, spatial and temporal transmission profiles for a finite patterned nanograting under external direct current (DC) and radio frequency (RF) magnetic fields. Studying the effect of Gilbert damping constant on the temporal and spectral responses shows that low-damping leads to longer mode propagation lengths due to low-loss and high-frequency excitations are also transmitted with high intensity. When the nanowire is excited with stronger external RF fields, higher frequency spin wave modes are transmitted with higher intensities. Changing the nanowire grating width, pitch and its number of periods helps shift the transmitted frequencies over super high-frequency (SHF) range, spans S, C, X, Ku, and K bands (3–30 GHz). Our design could enable spin-wave frequency multipliers, selective filtering, excitation, and suppression in magnetic nanowires.

In BEPC II(Upgrade of Beijing Electron-Position Collider), multi-bunches and high current operation mode is usually used. Due to the influence of high frequency cavity structure or resistance impedance, the beam will be unstable. If the beam is unstable, the luminosity and brightness of the accelerator will be decreased. In order to improve the beam current and brightness of accelerator and the collider luminosity, the beam feedback system is needed to suppress the instability. The trifold frequency multiplier by using triode is simple to operate, and it has good performance. In the experiments, the 500MHz signal was passed through the Triode Frequency Multiplier to get the 1.5GHz signal, and its output amplitude stability is 1.7mV, and its synchronization stability is 3.46ps compared with the 500MHz input signal.
