The civil construction sector has experienced ongoing changes due to the economic globalization, new technologies, and competition. It demands a large number of workers that are often recruited outside their original city, far from their families, with low work conditions, and without guarantee of continuity in employment, which may affect their health and performance. This study presents an exploratory and descriptive study with a quantitative approach, conducted by the Job Diagnostic Survey (JDS), with 159 workers in the civil construction sector in Brazil. The objective is to assess the level of satisfaction with work, compare the results of different workers at the workplace, and contribute to the discussion about QWL. It was found that the variable General Satisfaction with Work obtained the most negative general average score among the personal and the professional results, pointing out little satisfaction with their work as a whole, which can be improved through training and increase workers empowerment. This study carried out a survey with the construction worker, subjects who are hardly evaluated in research on working conditions. The JDS questionnaire was an important tool in this evaluation, contributing to understanding the variables that impact on the performance of these workers. In this context, improving the quality of work life (QWL) make it possible to assist managers to help workers’ satisfaction at work.

Globally, the quality of work-life (QoWL) of nurses is significantly affected. They are the largest health care groups and the leading front liners in the clinical settings. When the nurse's quality of work life is compromised, the work environment's dynamic changes will also be affected. At current, the focus issues in nursing include excessive workload and poor work conditions. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of quality of work-life among public hospital nurses in Sarawak General Hospital (SGH), Kuching, Malaysia. Methods: Descriptive study with a purposive sampling technique was used in recruiting 461 nurses working at SGH. A composite scale was used for the assessment of QoWL in nurses. Data were collected using adapted questionnaires that focused on nine different areas. The questionnaires were distributed to the nurses via an online survey. This study revealed that 52.9% of the respondents were not satisfied with their QoWL, while 47.1% were satisfied. Three areas were identified to record a higher percentage of unsatisfactory QoWL: relation and cooperation, autonomy of work, and resources adequacy. There are significant differences between the nurses' quality of work-life and socio demographic characteristics (p-value≤0.01). Female nurses; those involved in clinical; working and staying at the same hospital for a long time; and those working shifts, having satisfactory QoWL. In sum, the nurse's quality of work-life is at a moderate level. This research further indicates that the socio-demographic features of nurses and QoWL are substantially linked. Result-driven research is also needed to examine the effectiveness, efficacy, and cost benefits of specific strategies to improve quality of life. The health care authorities should implement policies to strengthen nurses' working standards and their QoWL to provide excellent and effective care for their clients.

The American labor force is presently undergoing an evolutionary change which contains certain implications with respect to the ways in which organizations are designed and managed. The principal trends which have emerged are: the changing composition of the labor force, changing attitudes and values of the individual worker, and the emergence of alternative management systems (herein termed quality of work life programs) as a response to cope with this evolution. Many of these programs are concerned with varying the structure and design of the organization, redesign of the work environment, and the adoption of alternative management styles and methods. In an era of slower growth, declining productivity, and stiffer world wide competition, the solution to “people problems” is now just as consequential as is the introduction of new technologies and the generation of capital. Evidence is rapidly mounting that quality of work life programs do appear to be of help in achieving the desirable goals of improved quality and productivity, and increased job satisfaction on the part of the worker. Such programs are not, of course, unique to American organizations. This symposium includes a discussion of programs employed in West Germany and in Japan as well as in the United States. American programs presented include those of the subsidiary of a Japanese firm, and those of two large, highly successful organizations with outstanding records of employee relations and quality of work life programs. Time will be available for audience interaction and questions.

Objective: Quality of work life is one of the most important variables recently considered by many managers who seek to improve the quality of their human resources. Considering the vital factor of job satisfaction of family physicians as a service provider, this study was conducted to evaluate the quality of working life of family physicians in Bam. Materials and methods: This research is a cross-sectional and descriptive type. Research population includes all family physicians working at health centers in Bam. The Van Larr Quality of Work Life Questionnaire, which was validated by Nekoei Moghadam, was used. The questionnaire data is analyzed by SPSS 24 from statistical-descriptive tests (mean and standard deviation) and T-test and ANOVA. Results: Quality of work life score in family physicians is obtained 2.93 out of 5. Control ambiance in work (CAW) has the highest mean (3.16) and Work-life balance (WLB) has the lowest mean (2.29). Work experience has a meaningful relationship just with the two components of WLB and SAW in Quality of work life (p = 0.036). Furthermore, in the factor of GWB, the average score of unmarried physicians (Mean = 3.18) were more than the married ones (Mean = 3.05) (p = 0.010). The mean score of unmarried physicians was more than the married ones. Conclusion: The quality of work life from the family physicians is about upper-intermediate. Thus, authorities of the family physician concept in the ministry of Health, and also in the Bam city should pay more attention to the family physician’s work life and consider programs and solutions in order to improve it.
