Abstract Nowadays, one of the most important issues in modern industrial power plants is air pollution. Solid particles are harmful to human health and are one of the main pollutants released through the combustion of biomass. The main goal of this paper was to study the flow in a modular bag filter of a dedusting system implemented in a Biomass Power Plant, in order to improve the filtration of the solid particles coming from the biomass combustion. For this purpose, a numerical model using the ANSYS Fluent software was developed. Initially, it was necessary to model the dedusting system in the software SolidWorks. Once this system had 10 modules and to facilitate the simulation in Fluent, only one module was modeled with proper simplifications. Once the geometry was modeled, it was exported to Fluent where the mesh was made, with special care in the inlet of the module, as it is the most critical zone for the simulation. It was simulated 4 cases, where the action of each individual filter was considered. The first case study considered the nominal operating conditions of a biomass power plant. Thereafter, two cases with different mass flow rates were simulated to assess if there were any differences in the flow inside the bag filter. Lastly, it was studied the influence of the vertical baffle size that is in the inlet of the module. Comparing the four simulations, it was concluded that in the first three cases, the flow is very similar, with only a slight increase in the velocity in the study with higher flow, as expected. Furthermore, it was concluded that using a smaller vertical baffle, the flow would be improved, once the filters close to the inlet would be more used.

In this work, industrial biomass power plant ash was used to synthesize the ZSM-5 zeolites for the first time with the original intention to turn value-added material into wealth, and then committed to adsorption performance testing.

The delivery of biomass products from the production place to the point of final use is of fundamental importance within the constitution of energy chains based on biomass use as renewable energy source. In fact, transport can be one of the most economically expensive operations of the entire biomass energy production process. In this work, a geographic identification, through remote sensing and photo-interpretation, of the different biomass sources was used to estimate the potential available biomass for energy in a small-scale supply chain. The economic sustainability of transport costs was calculated for different types of biomass sources available close to a biomass power plant of a small-scale energy supply chain, in central Italy. The proposed analysis allows us to highlight and visualize on the map the areas of the territory characterized by greater economic sustainability in terms of lower transport costs of residual agroforestry biomass from the collection point to the final point identified with the biomass power plant. The higher transport cost was around € 40 Mg−1, compared to the lowest of € 12 Mg−1.

A numerical study with FLUENT software has been carried out as to air performance in the slope solar energy power plant. The velocity field, temperature and pressure fields in the solar chimney, and the simulated result were compared with the simulated result of traditional solar chimney power generating equipment. The simulation results show that distribution of the temperature field and the velocity field in slope solar energy power plant and traditional solar chimney power generating equipment. In the case of the same height, the velocity of traditional is slightly larger than the slope style's, but there is little difference. In order to achieve the same power generation effect, the overall height of slope style is more than the traditional style, but the vertical chimney height of traditional style is greater than the slope style. The cost of construction of vertical chimney is expensive, and many problems have been considered, like radix saposhnikoviae and earthquake prevention, the heat collector also need to be cleaned on time. The slope style can take full advantage of land, the height of vertical chimney will be reduced, so the construction of the chimney will be relatively easy. Rainwater can clean the heat collector when it runs down from it. All things considered. The slope solar energy power plant has more development prospects.
