ABSTRACTNon-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA), began to be studied to be used as an effective multiple access technique on 5G networks because this technique can save modulation bandwidth. In this research, NOMA is applied to the Visible Light Communivation (VLC) downlink system. We have performed a Multi-User Detection (MUD) performance analysis on Non-Line of Sight (NLOS) propagation channels by considering the reflector and shadowing effects. We also consider the MUD technique used in this study, namely Successive Interference Cancellation (SIC). After extensive simulations, we found that the application of SIC as MUD to the NOMA-VLC system is better than without NOMA. In addition, we also achieve an increase in data rate of 72%.Keywords: VLC, NOMA, NLOS, MUD, Optical Wireless Communication.

The upcoming fifth- and sixth-generation (5G and 6G, respectively) communication systems are expected to deal with enormous advances compared to the existing fourth-generation communication system. The few important and common issues related to the service quality of 5G and 6G communication systems are high capacity, massive connectivity, low latency, high security, low-energy consumption, high quality of experience, and reliable connectivity. Of course, 6G communication will provide several-fold improved performances compared to the 5G communication regarding these issues. The Internet of Things (IoT) based on the tactile internet will also be an essential part of 5G-and-beyond (5GB) (e.g., 5G and 6G) communication systems. Accordingly, 5GB wireless networks will face numerous challenges in supporting the extensive verities of heterogeneous traffic and in satisfying the mentioned service-quality-related parameters. Optical wireless communication (OWC), along with many other wireless technologies, is a promising candidate for serving the demands of 5GB communication systems. This review paper clearly presents how OWC technologies, such as visible light communication, light fidelity, optical camera communication, and free space optics communication, will be an effective solution for successful deployment of 5G/6G and IoT systems.

Visible light communications (VLC) is a short-range optical wireless communication technology that uses light-emitting diodes (LEDs) as lighting devices and data transmitters. This paper describes a multiuser VLC system using Hadamard-coded modulation (HCM) for indoor data transmission. Considering the peak transmitted power limit of the LEDs, a DC-reduced HCM (DCR-HCM) is used to reduce the nonlinear clipping distortion. Since the Hadamard codewords have different bandwidth requirements for a given symbol rate, they can be assigned to users with varying hardware capabilities. Optimally assigning codewords to users is found to significantly improve the average throughput, up to twice higher than a random assignment for a typical scenario. When the number of active users is less than the size of the Hadamard matrix used, more than one codeword can be assigned per user, which further improves the throughput. This paper also examines a scenario where multiple lamps in an indoor space transmit the same data. Since the time of arrival for the received signals emitted from different lamps is different, the Hadamard codes received are no longer orthogonal, resulting in multiple access interference and inter-chip interference. The number of acceptable codewords is computed based on the specific interference experienced in different parts of the indoor space. The spatial distribution of the maximum throughput is also simulated, showing that the ratio of the maximum to the minimum data rate can be as high as 10 when considering the entire area of a typical indoor room. Optical networks are bandwidth efficient networks are used for long haul communication providing seamless data transfer. For high speed data transmission in open space between different satellites, Inter-satellite Optical wireless communication (IsOWC) is widely used .In this paper we have evaluated the performance of IsOWC communication link for high speed data transmission .The performance of the system is evaluated on the basis of qualitative parameters such as Q-factor and BER using optisystem simulator.
