Factors Influencing Job Satisfaction of Student Employees of a Recreational Sports Department at a Large, Four-Year Public Institution: A Case Study

Job satisfaction is among the most researched concepts in the study of organizational behavior, particularly because of managers' interests in the favorable consequences associated with high job satisfaction. Previous research, however, has largely overlooked part-time employees. This insufficiency is especially problematic for sport and recreation organizations, which often rely heavily on part-time employees to fill specialized roles. The present study was conducted to assess the determinants of job satisfaction among part-time student employees of a university recreational sports department. The results have significant implications for similar organizations. A comprehensive understanding of the factors contributing to job satisfaction provides recreational sports administrators with the necessary tools to enhance satisfaction in the student workplace, and ultimately overall productivity.

In this case study, learners are introduced to Sloane, a diversity and inclusion officer who is working to create more inclusive sport and recreation opportunities in her community. A national-level sport event will be hosted in her community and provides an opportunity to elevate and accelerate the work she is already doing with sport and recreation organizations. Learners will develop an understanding of two key themes: LGBTQ2+ inclusion and event leveraging. Working through the case will require learners to think critically about sexuality and gender identity in the context of sport participation and organizations. Furthermore, learners will have the opportunity to think creatively about how they can support innovation in organizational cultures and practices with a view to fostering more inclusive, welcoming, and safe sport organizations.

This study examined the relationship between part-time student employment in a recreational sports department and academic success as measured by grade point averages (GPA) and number of credit hours enrolled. Three hundred and thirty undergraduate recreational sports student employees were compared to a random sample of 350 undergraduate students who were not employed by the department of recreational sports. A positive connection was identified between employment with the recreational sports department and academic success. Freshmen and junior recreational sports employees had statistically significant higher GPAs than the freshmen and juniors in the general student population. However, working with the recreational sports department did not have an effect on the number of credit hours enrolled.

In today's complex global environment, communications effectiveness and emotional intelligence remains a key topic of concern among managers worldwide. The paper is undertaken to understand the relationship between managers communications effectiveness to improve emotional intelligence and job satisfaction in the universities of Iran. In current paper emotional intelligence plays main role in relationship with communication effectiveness and with job satisfaction. Data (N = 234) for this study were collected through questionnaires and the participants were managers in universities of Iran. The result in current paper shows that emotional intelligence has a positive and strong relationship with communication effectiveness and with job satisfaction.

In this research, significant components of organizational behavior in an actual commercial retail store located in Colombia, were further considered and investigated. The business case was analyzed by applying a structured questionnaire in the company. It was concluded that the success of the company is influenced by factors such as motivation, job satisfaction, emotions and decision making, indicating that perception factors and attitudes need reinforcement. In addition, recommendations for the intervention of organizational behavior, as well as the perspective of reducing the negative impacts that these findings might have on the obtained results are also proposed.

This job is performed with a case study with the quantitative paradigm, transversal and exploratory; the selected sample is from a PYME dedicated to automation power services. For it is based on the model of situational leadership Hersey and Blanchard, in addition to job satisfaction survey NTP213.
