We report here the 3.6-Mb draft genome of Bacillus altitudinis Lc5, a potential plant growth promoter and an active antagonistic endophyte of black rice. This genome study will provide better insights into the strain’s mechanisms for plant growth promotion and biocontrol, thus facilitating its application in organic agriculture.

We report here the improved draft genome sequence of Pseudomonas poae strain A2-S9, a bacterium that was originally isolated from switchgrass plants and exhibited the capacity for plant growth promotion. Its genome has a size of 6.68 Mbp and a GC content of 61.3%.

We report here the draft genome of Bacillus altitudinis strain PAE4, a thermophilic plant growth-promoting rhizobacterium isolated from the coastal ridge of the Mediterranean Sea in Egypt. Besides heat shock protein genes, several genes encoding phytobeneficial properties were identified.

ABSTRACT The strain of Bacillus sp. CMAA 1363 was isolated from the Brazilian Caatinga biome and showed plant growth-promoting traits and ability to promote maize growth under drought stress. Sequencing revealed genes involved in stress response and plant growth promotion. These genomic features might aid in the protection of plants against the negative effects imposed by drought.

Utilization of plant growth-promoting bacteria colonizing roots is environmentally friendly technology instead of using chemicals in agriculture, and understanding of the effects of their colonization modes in promoting plant growth is important for sustainable agriculture. We herein screened the six potential plant growth-promoting bacteria isolated from Beta vulgaris L. (Rhizobium sp. HRRK 005, Polaromonas sp. HRRK 103, Variovorax sp. HRRK 170, Mesorhizobium sp. HRRK 190, Streptomyces sp. HRTK 192, and Novosphingobium sp. HRRK 193) using a series of biochemical tests. Among all strains screened, HRRK 170 had the highest potential for plant growth promotion, given its ability to produce plant growth substances and enzymes such as siderophores and 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid (ACC) deaminase, respectively, concomitantly with active growth in a wider range of temperatures (10–30 °C) and pH (5.0–10.0). HRRK 170 colonized either as spots or widely on the root surface of all vegetable seedlings tested, but significant growth promotion occurred only in two vegetables (Chinese cabbage and green pepper) within a certain cell density range localized in the plant roots. The results indicate that HRRK 170 could function as a plant growth promoter, but has an optimum cell density for efficient use.

We report the 4.39 Mb draft genome of Bacillus licheniformis GB2, a hydrocarbonoclastic Gram-positive bacterium of the family Bacillaceae , isolated from diesel-contaminated soil at the Ford Motor Company site in Genk, Belgium. Strain GB2 is an effective plant-growth promoter useful for diesel fuel remediation applications based on plant-bacterium associations.

There are pressing needs to reduce the use of agrochemicals, and PGPR are receiving increasing interest in plant growth promotion and disease protection. This study follows up our previous report that the four newly isolated rhizobacteria promote the growth of Arabidopsis thaliana .

Enterobacter asburiae NCR1 is a plant growth-promoting rhizobacterium isolated from the rhizosphere of Carpobrotus rossii . We report the draft genome sequence of E. asburiae strain NCR1, which revealed many genes facilitating beneficial interactions with plant hosts.
