A novel anaerobic ammonium-oxidizing (anammox) bacterium was detected in an upflow column reactor treating synthetic nitrogen-rich saline solution. Here, we assembled a 4.59-Mb draft genome sequence of this bacterium, identified as a member of the genus “Candidatus Scalindua,” that has 84% nucleotide-level genomic similarity with the closest related anammox bacterium (“Candidatus Scalindua rubra”).

A draft genome sequence of Methanobacterium sp. strain 34x was reconstructed from the metagenome of an enriched electromethanogenic biocathode operated in a microbial electrosynthesis (MES) reactor. Methanobacterium sp. strain 34x has 68.98% nucleotide-level genomic similarity with the closest related methanogen available with a whole-genome assembly, Methanobacterium lacus strain AL-21. This genome will provide insight into the functional potential of methanogens at the biocathodes of MES systems.

AbstractWe present the draft genome of an anaerobic ammonium-oxidizing (anammox) bacterium, cluster III Candidatus Brocadia, which was enriched in an anammox reactor. A 3.2 Mb genome sequence comprising 168 contigs was assembled, in which 2,765 gene-coding regions, 47 tRNAs, and 5S, 16S and 23S ribosomal RNAs were annotated. No evidence for the presence of a nitric oxide-forming nitrite reductase was found.

The anaerobic ammonium-oxidizing (anammox) bacterium “CandidatusBrocadia sp. 40” demonstrated the fastest growth rate compared to others in this taxon. Here, we report the 2.93-Mb draft genome sequence of this bacterium, which has 2,565 gene-coding regions, 41 tRNAs, and a singlerrnoperon.

ABSTRACT Bacteriophage vB_Eco_swan01 was isolated from an ornamental pool using Escherichia coli MG1655 as the host. Bacteriophage vB_Eco_swan01 has limited similarity with other known phages at the nucleotide level and likely represents a new bacteriophage species within the Tunavirinae.

Here, we report the draft genome sequence of Pseudorhodobacter sp. strain E13, a Gram-negative, aerobic, nonflagellated, and rod-shaped bacterium which was isolated from the Yellow Sea in South Korea. The assembled genome sequence is 3,878,578 bp long with 3,646 protein-coding sequences in 159 contigs.
