ABSTRACT The phytopathogenic bacterium Pseudomonas syringae pv. eriobotryae causes canker disease in loquat. Isolates from Japan are classified into three groups based on pathogenicity and pigment production. In this study, we report the draft genome sequences of three strains, one belonging to each of the three groups.

ABSTRACT Pseudomonas cannabina pv. alisalensis and Pseudomonas syringae pv. maculicola cause bacterial leaf blight and bacterial leaf spot of crucifers (Brassicaceae). Both pathogens are threats to the cultivation of cruciferous crops. Here, we sequenced two strains of each pathogen, which will contribute to the development of countermeasures for the above diseases.

ABSTRACT Pseudomonas syringae pv. tomato causes bacterial speck in tomato. We report the genome sequences of two P. syringae pv. tomato strains, J4 and J6, that are genetically closely related, with >99.9 average nucleotide identity (ANI), but vary in the presence of coronatine-associated genes.

ABSTRACT Several groups (biovars) of the kiwifruit bacterial canker pathogen Pseudomonas syringae pv. actinidiae are found in Japan. Here, we sequenced and compared 10 genome sequences of biovar 1, a major group in Japan, which is known as the phaseolotoxin producer.

ABSTRACT Pseudomonas syringae pv. actinidiae is the pathogen that causes kiwifruit bacterial canker and is categorized into several groups (biovars). In Japan, biovar 3, known as the pandemic group, was first discovered in 2014. Here, we sequenced the genomes of nine Japanese biovar 3 strains.

Brenneria rubrifaciens and Brenneria nigrifluens, respectively, cause deep and shallow bark canker disease in walnut. B. rubrifaciens exhibits quorum sensing-controlled virulence and rubrifacine pigment production. The complete genome sequences of these species will be useful for studying the role of genes regulated by quorum sensing, including pathways mediating pathogenesis.

Here, we report 12 draft genome sequences of mutant Mycolicibacterium smegmatis strains resistant to imidazo[1,2-b][1,2,4,5]tetrazines, which are antituberculosis drug candidates. We have identified 7 different mutations in the MSMEG_1380 gene, which encodes the AcrR/TetR_N transcriptional repressor, which may activate efflux-mediated resistance.

Flavobacterium psychrophilum is a Gram-negative, psychrophilic bacterium within the family Flavobacteriaceae. Here, we report the draft genome sequences of three F. psychrophilum strains isolated from skin ulcers of diseased ayu caught by tomozuri angling at three sites in the Kagami River in Japan.

Draft genomes of two strains of Escherichia coli, FP2 and FP3, isolated from the feces of the Canada goose (Branta canadensis), were sequenced. Genome sizes were 5.26 Mb with a predicted G+C content of 50.54% (FP2) and 5.07 Mb with a predicted G+C content of 50.41% (FP3).

ABSTRACT Here, we report draft genome sequences of historical strains of Coxiella burnetii derived from cow’s milk and the placenta of a goat that had aborted. The California and Ohio milk strains display a different sequence type than do contemporary milk strains.
