We obtained the uncertainty relation in squeezed states for a time-dependent oscillator. The uncertainty relation in coherent states is same as that of the number states with n=0. However, the uncertainty relation in squeezed states does not satisfy this property and depends on squeezing parameter c. For instance, the uncertainty relation is ℏ/2 which is the minimum value as far as quantum mechanics permits for c=1, same as that in coherent state for c=±∞, and infinity for c=-1. If the time-dependency of the Hamiltonian for the system vanishes, the uncertainty relation in squeezed states will no longer depend on c and becomes the same as that in number state with n=0, like the uncertainty relation in coherent states.

The coherent state formalism is used in order to study the classical limit of quantum theories and, in particular, quantum electrodynamics. It is shown that we can construct states for which the quantum fluctuations are negligible. Interesting cases include the electromagnetic field in a cavity, or ‘squeezed’ states used in quantum optics.

Mixing the squeezed vacuum and coherent state in a beam splitter generates NOON states of the electromagnetic field, but with fidelity less than unity. In this article it is shown that the output of the beam splitter generates the NOON states with unit fidelity if superposed coherent states are used instead of the squeezed vacuum. Also, the post-selection probability of NOON states is shown to be higher.

Signal-to-quantum noise ratio for quantum current in mesoscopic Josephson junction of a circular superconducting ring can be improved if the electromagnetic field is in a successive squeezed coherent state. The mesoscopic Josephson junctions can feel the difference between the successive squeezed coherent states and other types of squeezed coherent states because their current–voltage Shapiro steps are different. We compare our method with another procedure for superposition of two squeezed coherent states (a squeezed even coherent state) and consider the effect of different large inductances on the supercurrent.

Synchrotron radiation was originally studied by classical methods using the Liénard–Wiechert potentials of electric currents. Subsequently, quantum corrections to the classical formulas were studied, considering the emission of photons arising from electronic transitions between spectral levels, described in terms of the Dirac equation. In this paper, an intermediate approach is considered, in which electric currents generating the radiation are considered classically while the quantum nature of the radiation is taken into account exactly. Such an approximate approach may be helpful in some cases; it allows one to study one-photon and multi-photon radiation without complicating calculations using corresponding solutions of the Dirac equation. Here, exact quantum states of an electromagnetic field interacting with classical currents are constructed and their properties studied. With their help, the probability of photon emission by classical currents is calculated and relatively simple formulas for one-photon and multi-photon radiation are obtained. Using the specific circular electric current, the corresponding synchrotron radiation is calculated. The relationship between the obtained results and those known before are discussed, for example with the Schott formula, with Schwinger calculations, with one-photon radiation of scalar particles due to transitions between Landau levels, and with some previous results of calculating two-photon synchrotron radiation.
